Flesh for the Beast (2003)
The worst movie I've ever seen!
WOW WHAT A JOKE!!!! I think this is by far the worst movie I've ever seen.If you even want to call it a movie. Because its really a bad porno shot on dads video camera. There is really not to much i can say here this does not even qualify as a real movie. There is no story i can see here,There is no acting what to speak of but rather nude talentless naked bodies in this, these people are not real actors but rather amateurs that belong in porno movies. There is no real photography to speak of,but rather a home video or should i say home porn video attempt here. How does something as tasteless as this even get a video stores, its amazing to me.And the obscene amount of gore and blood is just laughable. What happened to CLASS! there used to be so many great old classics in this genre, what has happened to movies ,its so sad so very very sad.
American Graffiti (1973)
How cute is Cindy Williams in this
They don't make movies like this anymore, truly a classic. This is so much better than StarWars which in my opinion is a bunch of overrated fluff for young kids.American Graffitti is true movie making at its finest.George Lucas should have also been complimented on being such an amazing talent scout with actors, since all of them went on to become the biggest names in Hollywood.
Starting with Harrison Ford,Cindy Williams,Richard Dreyfuss,Ron Howard,Suzanne Sommers,Mckenzie Phillips,Charles Martin Smith,Kathleen Quinlan,I mean what an unbelievable cast. This movie really brings something back for people ,a true look at a loss of innocence, filmed in such a bold documentary style, its the equivalent of indie films today, back when the studios didn't put out just crap with computerized special affects that you see so much of today.American Graffitti is to smart for audiences today, unfortunately they want fluff with explosives and quick paced special affects.American Graffitti does not rely on any of that thank god, this movie is all about the superb performances ,most notably Cindy Williams who obviously went on to tremendous fame with her TV show but she really was great in a lot of her old movies ie,The Conversation,American Graffitti,Travels with my aunt etc everyone is great in this though, they do a wonderful job of creating characters, kids you know that you grew up with.A lot of kids today in movies just play themselves they don't have the training or talent that a lot of the actors had in the sixties and seventies. lastly this is not just a movie for our parents to appreciate, I'm only 25 but I'm smart enough to know that movies back then were much more about ability!
Jaws 2 (1978)
most memorable is Marges death.
Not as bad as everyone says, there's far worse out there folks, especially from
todays bad horror films. Its actually pretty entertaining, and very smart idea on the film makers part to have a group of vulnerable kids who are likable trapped on a raft out in the middle of the ocean by a great white shark. You generally worry for them, but id say the part of the film thats the most memorable,is the death of Marge the nice girl out of the group, played by former kodak model
Martha Swatek. At the end of the film little sean brody falls into the water, marge who is the nicest to him and seans favourite, jumps in and single handedly
saves him from the shark, but sadly the boat she puts him on is to slippery for her to get on herself and while she struggles to get on board with sean, the shark shockingly comes up and kills her infront of sean and everyone else.Very smart to kill of a character that is likable and very sad to watch, you feel bad seeing her get it,unlike a lot of other horror films today that kill the typical people that are not likable but annoying and you want to see them get it,therefore you don't
worry for them and its anti-climatic.Overall not a bad film check it out.
Scream (1996)
This movie sucks
This movie sucks, if your from the ages of 10 to 18 I'm sure you love it,because todays teenagers don't have a clue about good filmaking.Halloween,The
Exorcist,Alien,The Omen,Carrie now these movies are classics, and more
importantly these films are smart on so many different levels. The acting and
fresh story lines as well as the amazing soundtracks in these older classics are timeless and often used by film students to study filmaking,Scream on the other hand has nothing to study, there's not even a mood or style to a film like this,The acting is horrible the two killers who try to be cute and funny are just plain annoying. Movies today like Scream and I know what you did last summer are
just tongue and cheek copycats of the true well made horror classics of the 60s and 70s.Scream and its followers give the genre a bad name.Everything in
these movies is fluff, with quick jumpy editing,no original music composed
except for maybe some bad rap music or headbanger music,no art direction no
mood,no real characters developed.Which leaves the young audiences today to
not think for themselves or have any imagination, also the blood and gore in this film is just plain cheesy! My advice to a lot of these kids watching is when you get a bit older and have some knowledge of film,go and watch the classics and learn something about true film making.
Halloween (1978)
Too smart for audiences today
This movie truly is a classic and much too smart for audiences today.Kids today are use to tongue and cheek copycat movies like Scream or I know what you did last summer, these movies who have no depth or characters and not even really any true actors but rather pretty boy and girl models from the hip nauseating WB channel. Also what these audiences don't realize is movies like Scream etc are
not independent films but sadly made by Hollywood studios for an obscene
amount of money.Halloween which was Independent and really made for
pennies in comparison was the original of this genre and is so much more
creative, smart and sophisticated. It does not rely on bad jokes or blood and gore or cheap scare tactics,Halloween is beautifully shot, really creates a mood and style to it ,through its use of camera angles lighting and art direction. The simple Hitchcock approach here is very creepy and stylistic through the whole movie. The acting is quite good, especially for a horror movie.Nancy Loomis who plays Jaime lee curtisis best friend (Annie),is probably the strongest here,in in my opinion shes underrated, she does a wonderful job of really creating a
character, shes the girl we all knew in highschool, very funny at times and loves to stir the pot,so when its time for Nancy Loomis to die your almost feel kind of sad because you've come to care about her.In fact you care about all the
characters in this movie and thats why your scared for them . Unlike todays
horror films where there is no character development and such a high body
count that in a way you want to see these one dimensional characters die. Also the music of Halloween is brilliant again simple is the key here, todays films don't even have originally composed music but rely on really bad rap or head banger music for its soundtrack which does nothing to set the style or mood to the
movie. Carpenter was brilliant to keep our villain quiet, just good verses evil, and Michael Meyers then becomes more of a force than a farce. The white
expressionless mask against a dark background says it all. This film really is a filmmakers dream to sit down and study all the smart elements of true film
making.Todays villains are too cute and try to be funny (ie Scream)and the
audiences that it plays for unfortunately know nothing about film and do not
have the attention span or imagination for a movie like Halloween.A lot of these kids today need things quick and easy for them, they don't want to use their
brains they want quick editing,a lot of gore and tongue and cheek,so chances
are when they watch Halloween they wont get it ,they will be bored by it,and my answer to that is that ITS OVER THEIR HEADS,ITS TO SMART FOR THEM
SADLY. So I leave you with this, if you want a classic see Halloween,if you want a true well made independent film see Halloween,if you want a classy ,timeless horror film see Halloween,if you want mindless crap see anything that
Hollywood puts out today ,because let me tell ya movies aren't what they use to be,but in the 60s, 70s and even early 80s it was much more about ability!
