Beauty and the Beast: Reunion (2013)
lacking in warmth
This episode seemed to lose its way. It started out with time line issues. Then there was an overtone of paternalism and sexism that is a little outdated.
The theme seemed to go out of the way to be unromantic and to portray annoyance. This is the first episode of the new season that it felt devoid of deep emotion that we long to see.
There are scenes that were probably a mistake to even be scripted so not sure what the writer's intention was. If this episode was to show distance between the characters or cause us to question the morality or the love between them, he succeeded.
The only scene that seemed to offer some understanding was cut short. It could have been warm, understanding and restored the depth of love but the writer chose to go another direction and left the viewer rather bereft.
Beauty and the Beast: Heart of Darkness (2013)
One of the best episodes
This episode was very heart wrenching but one of the best to date. Vincent's lines and movements were worth the entire episode. Brave and loyal, his and Catherine's actions are epic. Evan redeems himself from his actions in previous scenes and episodes.
The writers even reduced the camera time of the Gabe character, which made this episode the best one of the last several. Lately, the story has suffered because of the inclusion of the Gabe character. The writers seem to have devoted more time to his lines and actions than to the cohesiveness of the story. So having him in the background and Vincent Catherine and Evan up front made the entire episode worth it.
Beauty and the Beast (2012)
Keeps getting better with each episode
If you were disappointed with the first few episodes, please revisit the series. It has grown away from the procedural show and is more intense, more action and more substance.
I for one was hooked from the pilot and was in awe of the chemistry between the characters from the beginning. Now I find I can't wait for each episode and replay them during the week while waiting for a new one.
You won't be let down, this is a fabulous show, the best on the CW network.
Yes, there are some plot holes and overused phrases, but viewers tend to overlook those small annoyances and stay tuned for the drama, the wit, the love story, and the music.
