Reindeer Games (2000)
Unbelievable
Just another violent movie prolonged by the tired old plot prolonging scene when the villian isn't killed after losing his gun to the big star. Typical fight to the death which isn't. I call them Batman movies in honor of the old show.
Blue Ruin (2013)
Typical fight to the death that is not, which moves the movie along.
Spoiler alert
Two guys are hunting you and one shoots you in the leg with an arrow from a crossbow. The other has a rifle but you run him over with your car. Looks dead on screen but is not. Do you A) put him in your car and leave his gun behind B) make sure he is dead, take his gun and drive away. If you said A you could be a script writer.
Later when you let the not dead guy sit up in your trunk, do you A) finish him off with the rifle you are holding B) walk towards him so he can grab your gun and take it from you.
If you said B you really could be a script writer.
About that time I knew everyone would die in the end.
The Power of the Dog (2021)
Terrible
You know how a good movie has you involved from the beginning and you anticipate what's coming next because it's so engrossing? Well this movie should be retitled A real dog or maybe dead dog. If you enjoy cruel characters seemingly transformed by magic and watching paint dry you will love this movie.
Breathe (2017)
Cool story
My only complaint is the characters would have been in their 60s at the end but they looked like the 30 somethings they were in real life. Can't believe they weren't aged by makeup. This mistake killed the suspension of disbelief necessary in all movies.
A Good Day to Die Hard (2013)
I would have rated it zero if I could
Like Rocky V, this 5th version of Die Hard is a total flop and never should have been made. It never suspended my disbelief. It never established a clear relationship between foes. It never was funny or witty.
If you like to watch totally unbelievable action scenes with tons of stuff being blown up, shot up and destroyed you will like this movie. True Die Hard fans will hate it. Unlike the previous four, I will never watch it again no matter how many times it ends up on TV.
I actually fell asleep during the last 20 minutes of a matinée. What a waste of $6. I could have napped at home for free.
