Arrow: Lian Yu (2017)
Lian Yu - Mandarin for Purgatory
For all those who have stuck with the show from the very beginning, you will join me in stating that words nor numbers could possibly describe the value that this episode brought to the table. Oliver's 5 year journey, flashback and present came full circle in the best episode that this show has delivered. As soon as the episode began and with the very first words that we heard was "The name of the island they found me on is Lian Yu. It's Mandarin for purgatory" I knew at that moment that this episode was going to be astounding. The flashbacks this week, particularly and especially Oliver's final minutes on Lian Yu, with the tie-in to the very first episode, should have sent shivers down your spine. It was downright powerful. The fight scenes between not only Oliver and Chase, but Laurel (Siren) and Dinah as well as Nyssa and Talia were executed beautifully. Not to mention the return of the everlasting chemistry between Stephen and Manu. The pieces have all been placed for the return of Arrow in September, and without doubt, the premiere will continue to blow the audience away. "Lian Yu" is not only the most emotional, powerful and incredible episode of the entire series, but an episode that needs to and will be remembered as nothing less than astounding and breathtaking.
Arrow: Legacy (2016)
The beginning of what could be the best season yet...
Wow, just wow. The long wait for ARROW"S 5th season definitely did not disappoint and seems to be the beginning of what could be the best season of ARROW yet. This review of the season premiere, "LEGACY" will have minor spoilers, however nothing major. For all of those people (including myself) who were disappointed with a selected number of second half of the fourth season, ARROW is finally back (YAY) with what seems to be the biggest, darkest and goriest seasons to date. The flashbacks are truly fantastic, and very debatable to be best season of flashbacks we will see. This season (and last, unfortunately) of flashbacks s have started off to be very engaging, with you wanting to see much more of them, something that season 4 lacked. The actual plot of season 5 starts with basically everyone not doing their best. Importantly, Oliver is a horrible mayor and (what is left of) the team is not in best shape. The city is not improving in the way that Oliver needs it to. There are however, numerous familiar faces and references to past events which was a personal win for myself. Season 5 starts the process of "rebuilding" the show from its previous season, and by the way that the premiere played out, has definitely got back on track with keeping the audience engaged and wanting more every time an episode ends.
The Verdict:
+ Great Start to the Season + Interesting plot that feels extremely strong + A more darker Green Arrow, like season 1 + A minor Flashpoint effect
9.5 / 10
This season of ARROW looks to be one fans ans show runners undoubtedly deserve.
Inception (2010)
INCEPTION Review - Buildings tilt. Streets coil. Characters float.
Christopher Nolan's "Inception" is one of the most best directed and looking movie you will ever watch. Are you awake? Or are you asleep? That is the question you will be asking yourself throughout the movie, and we will never truly know. Inception is a movie where buildings tilt. Streets coil. Characters float.
Leonardo DiCaprio conducts a team of high risk takers (or criminals depending on which way you look at it) who delve deep into a target's dreams, having numerous detours, good and bad. To get it out there straight away, the film itself is not for everyone, due to the high-complex storytelling that Nolan is presenting. Yes, this is one of those movies that will confuse you if you don't pay attention from start to finish.
The basic pot of"Inception" revolves around Dom Cobb (DiCaprio!) who is an expert at entering victims' dreams and "extracting" secrets through heir subconscious. Cobb cannot return home for certain reasons (Spoiler free review). He is approached by a powerful and wealthy businessman (Watanabe) who wants Cobb to "flip" his common pursuit and instead embed an idea in someone's mind.
Dom is required to enter the dreams of Fischer (Murphy) and persuade him to disassemble it to Watanabe's desire, with ultimately a return home. Cobb is joined by Arthur (Gordon-Levitt), Ariadne, an architect (Page) who constructs the dream worlds; Eames, a forger (Hardy) who can portray anyone at will; and a pharmacist (Rao) who enables very deep sleep.
The idea of Inception isn't as putting the victim to sleep for 10 hours. The team and their client not only enter the same dreams, but "enter dreams within his dreams and dreams, within those dreams". In other words, 10 hours turn into 10 years at the bottom level of the dream (limbo).
Christopher Nolan's "Inception"is a movie that won't disappoint any viewer, as long as they are prepared to sit down and watch this movie without any breaks or stops, as you will be immediately lost and / or confused about what is going on. My personal rating for this movie is a 9.9 / 10 and after watching this masterpiece, the high rating can easily be agreed with.
