"Easy enough to talk of soul and spirit and essential worth...

...but not when you're three feet tall". This quote taken from the film I think, summarizes it all. I think there is a side to the this film that need analyzing by those greater than I. All through the film, you feel that there is an underlying tone which you're missing (and you'll kinda get it after you second viewing). This film I think, is about the fall of a man from one higher point to a lower one. But you can interpret that as almost anything, Why exactly is he getting smaller? In what way? You'll see that physical being is really not that apart from all other aspects of life. The protagonist's whole life changes as he feels the mental repercussions of a physical degradation. And you are able to relate because the film runs through its' course in such a way that you feel that it is not just about a person getting physically smaller. It is really about a person getting smaller, how, that is for you to relate and experience. Also, the name, "The Incredible Shrinking Man", could just as well pass as the title of a philosophical 20th century book. Highly and highly recommended.
