Worth a higher score
10 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I have seen much worse than this with higher scores. After recently watching Mr Crowe in a new Exorcist themed movie I realised new material doesn't grow on trees. This movie made me watch it till the end, (a feat in itself). For me the biggest disapointment was the end, I really thought the ending could of been written better.

It started off a good pace which had me wondering where it was going. Then the big house in the mountains. That always makes me look for some axe wielding bloke shouting "Here's Johnny", but that was never going to happen in this one.

The acting was okay, nice scenery and the filming directly downwards worked for me a little. It had its little faults which if you search hard enough you can find in 99% of movies if you try. I am only reviewing this because I believe the rating score was too low, which had me scratching my head asking myself "did you just watch a pile of sh~#"? I do not believe I did, I didn't like the end. But not every movie has a Kaiser Soze to fall back on.

Netflix in a meltdown
5 June 2021
This was a good super hero series. No punches pulled, it had death in its first episode. Death in super heroes doesn't come around a lot, Superman has died about a million times yet still stands tall before all. Another thing I like was the way it bounced around the time zones as it tied the story together. I think Netflix have jerked early by pulling the plug on this one (one series wow). It isn't like everything on Netflix is top notch, I mean they have season after season of some real crap shows, but they pull the plug on this very quickly.

In the U. K. Years ago they nearly pulled the plug very early on a comedy show called "Only fools and horses" everybody knows what happened with that little Gem. I have a feeling that Netflix too have a Gem with Jupiter's Legacy, but don't know how to handle it. (well they have handled it , rather foolishly).

Big Ben Scores
10 August 2020
I had never heard of this movie until it was on my TV without me saying it could be watched. I Have always liked Mr Affleck ever since his Good Will/Dogma movies. I find it strange that he gets slated at nearly every movie he does, yet comes out with movies like The Company Men, Gone Girl, and Argo and still the mud is thrown, and sticks . This movie was very good, no arty farty niceness with the kids, a single man living in a rundown house Just tell it as it should be. The acting was good, I mean real good. Only thing I didn't like was the drinking in the shower, I find it ruins the taste of the brew.

Still good with his head

I killed this in two sittings on Netflix, and it has nothing to do with being in lock-down. During the last few years there has been some good European movies and series from Denmark and Germany that I can think of and now this little French beauty. The story was original I kept wondering where it was going until there was only one way it could go. The acting was very good even by the lead star who now is Cantona the "Actor" not the "Footballer", "Ex-Footballer" for the picky people. The filming around Paris was very good too, I have only driven through Paris but I seemed to recognise some areas which also was another reason I was glued to it. Overall I was impressed all round by this little gem. Well done Cantona and the French film board,

Well worth a look.
2 July 2019
Like most I was going to watch it because Gibson and Penn were in it. So I went out of my way to watch it. I was not sure after the first five minutes, i thought it was a bit of a "mish mash" then it unfolded bit by bit into what I thought was a very good movie. Mr Penn didn't seem to overact and Mr Gibson pulled off a really good Scottish accent, (better than his Oscar winning movie anyway). Most of the acting was well done, the story was magnificent. The scenery for the time period was good, the dress code too was spot on. There was a lapse though when over a time period everyone aged except Mr Gibsons children, but that is being picky and getting away from the the story. I would of enjoyed this movie no matter who was in the starring roles. as the story alone is a a good account of a tue story.(Unknown by me and I reckon millions of others). After watching it I was straight onto Google to learn more about these two men and this incredible tale).

Godless (2017)

Best bit of Telly in years
29 March 2018
It takes something to keep this empty headed viewer locked onto the screen "Godless" succeeded in doing so from the start. With a wailing woman, a small posse very slowly riding through a small town, with dead and charred bodies of people and horses scattered around, while the posse is surrounded by a dust cloud. Thought provoking eh? No Werewolves, No Vampires, or Ninjas jumping 30 Feet into the air, Wow. Normally on Netflix I channel hop, Bang, no good don't like this try something else. Bang don't like this let's try something else,. Bang... After watching Godless on Netflix I will be respectful to what I may be dismissing. The pace is nice and even, not one with a shootout every two minutes,. The story unfolds bit by bit and it just pulled me in. All the leads are done really well, Mr Daniels exceeds in his. As you get into it you kinda know where it is leading to but I think it leads to where you want it go, for me it did, and how. Godless for me was brilliant. I hope they can can pull out another series, somehow.

Funny with a Bullet in the head

Just going to keep this short. Jason Issac should go straight to Oscar night to pick up an award after this performance.

I just didn't get it
9 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I watched it at home from start to end without taking my eyes off the screen,it was hypnotic in some ways like a lustful young lad watching a lady undress before him, or being sat at a boring footy match where it's nil-nil and something just has to happen. But I watched it anyway thinking hmm! Bit of Fight club, bit of Brazil, bit of Dark city, but thinking for f=@& sake something happen. Good acting, good dialogue good cinematography, but come on dammit, start making sense. Alas to me it never did. I have not read the book,I watched this movie completely unaware of what it was about.(I suppose I still am) At the end I told the lady to get dressed, and settled for penalties at the footy. But did he get the girl? Did he die? Who was doing all the work, and what the f*@$ was that exploding chicken all about?

Tom and Emma get good marks
8 March 2014
This was not my kind of movie, but as a married man of many years you have to let your wife pick a movie to watch before you choose yours. My Wife chose Saving Mr. Banks, I got 2 hours of silence from her, and nearly a teardrop every now and then. I watched Mary Poppins when I was a youngster and thought it was crap. That has nothing to do with Dick Van Dyke and his accent, I was a teenager before film critics lamented on how bad it was that I realized, he was an American doing a cockney accent. As a child you do not understand dialects, only language. you either understand what someone says or you do not. Saving Mr Banks, kept my wife amused for the whole movie as she really enjoyed it, as for myself I too was quiet all through the movie, I kept my mouth shut and just watched a good movie with some very good performances, by the cast. Good story. Well acted. Good movie.

Wheels of terror
14 March 2013
This film tried to hit the mark but didn't quite make it. Most of the cast did a good job but to me it just looked like not enough money was put into the project. You could tell that some of the tanks were not even close to the country of origin. (ie if you put the stars and stripes on a tiger tank does not turn it into a Sherman tank) After Stalingrad was made all movies kinda faded into the background about the eastern front, but with enough cash and enough know-how I am sure that one of Sven Hassell's books could be made into a real good war movie. Having said that, every time this movie is on the TV I never give it a miss.
