Happy Gilmore (1996)
Hilarious!
19 November 2008
Happy Gilmore is a hilarious movie! I like Adam Sandler's early movies and this or maybe Billy Madison are his best. I can't remember every seeing another golf comedy except Caddyshack and it is completely different from Caddyshack even though they both are kind of screwball genre comedies. Adam Sandler is very funny in it and all the supporting characters are funny too. I don't want to give anything away if you haven't seen this movie but I've seen the movie twelve times probably and I still laugh my butt right off every time I see the Bob Barker scene. If you don't mind stupid, dumb screwball comedy you'll love this movie it is very funny even though it's pointless and very low brow. It won't ever win awards but it's just a fun movie.

Ghostbusters (1984)
Awesome!
17 February 2008
Believe it or not I didn't see this movie until tonight. In fact I am watching it right now on TV. This movie is a great comedy and is definitely one of the best comedy films I have ever seen in my life.

Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd are awesome but it's obviously Bill Murray that carries this film. I see after watching it why he is a big star since I've seen him in other movies and they were good but not incredible. Ghost Busters is even better than Stripes which I used to think was his best comedy ever.

The effects don't look great but I imagine that in 1984 when this movie came out they were awesome. They still look good enough after all this time.

If you haven't seen Ghost Busters you should. I saw the second one a few years ago and it wasn't very good which is why I didn't see this until now, the original, but it is a much better movie!

The Tom Green Show (1999– )
Sometimes Funny, Sometimes Awful.
17 February 2008
I remember this show. I watched it pretty often. Usually I thought most of the show was boring but there would be at least one stunt or skit or interview that would be so funny I would almost cry, and that one part of the show was always worth sitting through the rest of the show that was boring or stupid or insulting.

Tom Green is still in my opinion better than any of the Jackass shows that came after it. None of his shows after this one were nearly as good. I like the best of DVDs because it's most of the great bits I remember and a lot of the "filler" is cut out. I have seen his new internet broadcast from his house and it is not nearly as good as this show so I would recommend picking it up on DVD instead of watching the new show. It is more of a sit and talk show (and the taping isn't very high quality which is to be expected from an internet show a guy makes himself in his house) and he doesn't do the really funny on the street stuff or interviews or stunts.

Garage (2007)
Good Irish Movie!
17 February 2008
This is a good small-ish budget movie from Ireland that I saw screened at a film festival, okay really it was a little screening of a few movies from Europe at a small pub at university. There is some good dark comedy here as well as some very interesting and well done cinematography.

The story focuses on a guy who works at a gas station who ends up falling into a dire situation and needs to get out. He is a very lonely man with seemingly no friends and no real family.

The only other people around him don't seem to like or respect him and are even just mean to him.

I would recommend Garage even though at times it seems to drag and the plot is a little bit thin. Very interesting with some good shots and a decent performance by the lead, Shortt.

Punched Up (2006– )
Another Horrible Mistake?
17 December 2006
I'm adding my name to the list of people who can't believe how bad the shows are on The Comedy Network.

Punched Up is terrible and there have been other shows on the network that are even worse! Girls Will Be Girls, Canadian Comedy Shorts, Popcultured, Mike Bullard, Keys to the VIP, You Bet Your Ass, Kevin Spencer, Butch Patterson - Private Dick, Con, and now Punched Up.

For sure there are a lot more equally bad shows that I'm forgetting right now.

What a history of complete and total failure! I am starting to think there is no hope for The Comedy Network after seeing so many terrible shows over the years.

I wish I could get rid of it but it is part of a cable package with other shows I actually care about.

Maybe that is how they make money and manage to stay on the air even though they suck.

The person who made the decision to put this pathetic excuse for a show on the air is the real person who needs a "Punch Up".

Popcultured (2005–2006)
This show makes me want to rip my own face off just so I can't watch any more of it
31 August 2005
That might be an exaggeration but not by much.

This show is so inconcievably bad that I can not for the life of me figure out how or why it was ever made.

Most of the "jokes" are simply a bunch of talentless inexperienced Toronto comedy hacks reading headlines from the week's pop culture news items and then waiting for us to laugh.

They don't understand the difference between a joke and a "premise". Jokes are supposed to have middle parts and punch lines. A joke is not just something like, "Martha Stewart went shopping for the first time since she was released from prison yesterday, hey Martha - GO TO HELL!" The only funny thing about this show is that it is how bad the writing and performers are.

The other funny thing is all the "celebrity guests" they get. There's a reason most of them are from other shows on the same network, because the network can make them appear. Nobody else would go anywhere near this giant smoking lump of cow pie.

The only real joke is on us because we were tricked into wasting our time to try to watch this humorless corpse and we're the ones who got stuck with the bill to make it! If the government and comedy network are reading this, hey give me a show instead! I can't be worse! Popcultured is so bad it's embarrassing.

The Bobroom (2000 TV Movie)
They should've called it "The Not Funny Room"
4 November 2004
This is one of the worst comedy series that the comedy network has ever tried to ram down our throats. Nothing in it was ever funny. They obviously didn't have a super budget or good writers or anything but that is no excuse for the terrible performances these same cast members would turn in every single episode. A few of the skits were pretty good but did not make up for all the horrible ones that we had to watch every episode in order to get to those good ones and there were only two or three that were at least good ideas. I had high hopes for this show but was disappointed again as I always am when it comes to something originally produce by the comedy network. Maybe next time they should let the writers act and have these guys write the shows so they won't stink so much? They should do something before they end up producting so many horrible shows that there whole network is taken off the air for making everybody stupider just for having watched it! MY ADVICE: STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOW LIKE IT IS THE Plague THAT IT IS!!!!!!
