End of Watch (2012)
Pure Adrenaline with Exceptional Acting
Filmed in the first person documentary style, the move grabs you from the beginning and pulls you in even closer as it moves forward. The acting is probably some of the best you will ever see in a police movie, the cinematography is surreal. The characters feel so real, you will feel like you've met them in real life and you were just watching a reality TV show.
The move is like a roller coaster which keeps going up, and up the tracks, and has you holding on tight for the entire ride. It's like they are on the TV Series COP, and filming themselves the entire time. It provides a glimpse into the dark word of being a police officer. This movie was a foreshadowing into todays world created by excessive open borders, they are transforming our nation to a 3rd world.
Spirited (2022)
Bah Humbug
As an adult this was painful to sit through the entirety. A confused plot, combined with bad editing and highly predictable storyline. I'm usually a huge fan of both Ryan Renolds and Will Farrell, so this was a big disappointment. The musical singing wasn't the issue, somehow it just didn't flow. Most of the attempted humor fell flat. It's the kind of movie musical you watch and keep saying it will get better, it never does. On the plus side, there was very good acting and singing mostly in tune. I felt this was a big waste of great talent.
Due to the low brow humor at times, I'm not even sure this is a children's movie. I'm not really sure the directors knew the audience they were aiming for.
The Longest Week (2014)
Pretentious to the Point of Perfection
Having lived on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and spent a number of summers in the Hampton, I met a few of the characters in the movie in real life. I might of even dated one from East Hampton. The satirical nature of this movie had me laughing throughout. The writing is absolutely brilliant, and the cinematography and scenes are so well done. Watching people who are so full of themselves, in their insulated worlds. Did I say the direction and script is brilliant. The mid century modern decor is wonderful, as the wealth rarely need to redecorate. The pseudo intellectualism and witty dialog with well timed banter. I'm surprised, of shall I say, not surprised of the lower ratings - since the proletariat wouldn't get the humor.
Gemini (2017)
Horrible Ending
Here is the spoiler - you will spend an hour an half of your life that you will never be able to get back.
Plot - Actress Meets Obsessed Fan in Diner. Assistant takes two pictures of them together at the table, they look NOTHING ALIKE and certainly are not Gemini Twins. However, because the fan has the same exact tattoo on the back of her neck, we are to believe the the LA police cannot tell the difference.
Actress ask's assistant for her small caliber 22LR revolver (which no person would ever use for self defense). Assistant goes back to actresses house and falls asleep, grabs gun in morning and has an accidental discharge. Leaves gun with actress who shoots obsessed fan with same next tattoo 5 times, then escapes somehow to lesbian lovers "cabin" which was no a cabin but a modern looking house in a neighborhood.
Director gives one coin to her ex-boyfriend for no reason but to mess with the viewers. Then director gives a bag of coins to lesbian lover. Assist visits lesbian lover and steals motorcycle to go to cabin to find her boss the actress.
Actress returns to Hollywood to do an exclusive interview, no mention of why she killed obsessive fan. Assistant still has her job.
Reality - Actress would of been arrested for murder of the fan in her house, would of been facing gun charges in California for illegal firearm possession, and leaving the scene of a homicide. Assist would of been arrested for no permit to carry and illegal transfer of a firearms and ghost gun laws. Family of dead fan would of sued the actress and assistant for homicide of their daughter and settled for millions and just like Alec Baldwin would of forced the Police to actually determine motive of the shooting.
The Hollywood bad and incompetent ending also ignores the fact that both the actress and assistant would of lawyered up immediately.... But this is Hollywood.
Girl Most Likely (2012)
Outstanding Complex Comedy of a Playwright
Kristen Wiig is outstanding and clearly immersed In her role. She is so believable as a precocious young child to a clueless playwright genius adult. The movie in its loosely connected characters and scenes, manages to have excellent continuity. This is a smart comedy and a few of the jokes will go over people's heads and be under appreciated.
Her family is filled with a multitude to idiosyncratic characters, all with big personalities. Her self absorbed irrelevant father, and pompous ex-friends all are living in their own shell. Sometimes it takes hitting bottom, and returning to your roots to find your true self.
Matt Dillion is hysterical and aged, and still can deliver a punch line. Annette Bening show why she's one of the greatest actresses of her time and will be recognized for her diverse roles, always delivering outstanding performances. Kristen Wiig is so believable in her role, that it's obvious she's lived among these self proclaimed individuals and enjoys delivering a parody of their banal existence.
Dog Years (2017)
It Felt Familiar in a Strange Way
I'm still in my 50, but I grew up very close to the family of my best friend. A self made Jewish man, who was almost an Olympic swimmer, an owner of a bar, a stock broker in NYC and a collector of Hollywood memorabilia. He had every actor's autographs (wide world autographs) from the golden age. It was a different lifestyle, and you never quite knew what he would bring home from a Hollywood or Estate Auction. He came home with Liberace's Limousine and we would drive around town in it. Then it was a Silver Cloud Rolls Royce, and Michael Jackson's jacket. His house was a mansion down the street a famous boxer almost purchased in a NYC suburb, and was also a museum. We would spend weekend on the Cabin Cruiser out on the lake.
Sadly as they aged and had numerous failed business ventures, such as a car auction houses down south. Both his children passed before the parents. One of cancer, my best friend, and the other by OD suicide. No parent should outlive their children. Some of the language in this movie truly brought back those memories with the Leeds family, the use of the words schmuck and Putz. Getting the grand suite in a hotel, while ordering room service.
It's important in life to look back and reflect on how what appear to be insignificant decisions at the time, and come to realize what a profound effect small moments can have on your future. How you treat others does matter. Challenging yourself to deliver excellence is important, and forming real genuine connections to others is all that matters in the last moments of life. Rest in peace Mr. Reynolds. A truly exceptional last act!
1 Mile to You (2017)
Why not me?
The grieving process has a number of stages, it doesn't really matter how you lost a loved one; each individual deals with it differently. Whether it was a bus accident, fatal injury, war or terminal illness, each person deals with death of loved ones in a unique way. The main character is a gifted runner, who channels his pain and anguish into his activity of choice. It was a relief that the director chose to skip the typical get drunk scene in this movie, and the main character hitting bottom. Instead the healing process was channeled into nearly unhealthy obsession of running away from feeling the pain of loss, and some self destructive tendencies. However, the main character managed to steer away from self destruction in the end, and realize that living his best life would better honor those he lost.
Joy for Christmas (2021)
It's a shame Cindy Busby's Real Life is the Same
A gorgeous Canadian actress who just like her many movies, is always single, looking for the next best man that appears. Zero children always and no plans to start a family, her legacy will be a long list of B rated movies. You would think in all those years on the set the opportunity to start a meaningful life and family would of presented itself many times, but she didn't know how to recognize the true opportunities in real life. On paper she's perfect in ever way, Cindy can play any character with "real" emotion, but she cannot transform her personal life to reflect her movie life, which always ends "happier ever after!"
A Bridesmaid in Love (2022)
Grandpa was the Best Actor!
I understand this is made for TV movie, but a woke storyline of a blue eyed white guy quitting a successful Wall Street career to work under a local art gallery for a black guy who doesn't have a clue about art or business is hard to believe. Then we have a wedding planner who don't have a steady job as a writer, and works as a wedding planner giving all her money to charity for after school art programs. Seriously who writes this crap, no sense of reality. The fiancé veterinarian who has breaks up with the only hot girl in town, and is only person in the movie with a steady career, only later to propose to her out of no where. The multiple "fiascos" of things going wrong, like loosing the wedding venue, when they have a signed contract. The idiotic instagram designer who made an ugly dress. This was a painful movie to watch, with a joke of script, only to be topped by horrendous acting.
Beach Red (1967)
Continuity of 1960 scenes?
If you're going to make a 1942 movie, then don't film all your flashbacks to 1967. They showed haircuts, clothing and homes of the 1960's in the flashback senes, which made the movie nearly unwatchable. Otherwise it's a strange low tech "war" movie. I'd call it a late 60's anti-war movie.
The Adam Project (2022)
Netflix Wonders why their Stock Plummeted
Lots of woke casting. Nice to see mixed marriages in the future. The story plot is ok, although the opening scene was a complete rip off off ET, to the point they are luck if Steven Spielberg doesn't sue them - they they even had the exact same Golden Retriever. Then they ripped off Star Wars with a light saber staff, hopefully George Lucas doesn't sue them.
The Bet (2020)
A bad "woke" movie
A bet on a loser of a man, versus a woman who chose a woke husband, before Wokeness was cool! This move was at a snails pace, and painful to watch. You keep waiting for the story to develop, but it never does, so you're just left with complete disappointment.
Blue Crush (2002)
Kate Bosworth is Smoking Hot
The story line is classic and fine. Kate Bosworth on a scale from 1 to 10 is a 10+ in this movie. Perfect everything. Oh yeah, it's also a boy meets local girl, and surf movie. Kind of like "An officer and a Gentleman" plot. This movie is becoming a classic and can be watched ever few years. I never understood why Kate didn't have a bigger career and any children of her own???
The cinematography is very well done and provides a first hand look into the dangers and intensity of surfing. The underwater scenes and authenticity of the scenery are enjoyable. As a scuba diver and lifeguard I could relate to the fear of unknown ocean - Mother Nature does as she pleases, you are merely there as an observer.
The Midnight Sky (2020)
Go watch Cast Away
If you want to watch an actor talk to himself while being stranded, go rent Cast Away. Tom Hanks is far more entertaining. Why do we have to watch a deaf girl for so many hours not talk and somehow survive everything. Hollywood pushing their agenda on this one that the Human Race destroyed the earth with global warming and Adam and Eve are an African American Girl and a White Woman having a baby in space.
Underneath the Same Moon (2019)
Skip The Droll Humor
The movie between the two main characters which were married, is good chemistry. However, the lowbrow relief comedy by the sister is uncomfortable and destroys the film. Farting in a dressing room and Pickering her nose at a traffic light, were misplaced and disgusting lowbrow humor. Remove the sister from the movie or replace all her lines and this could of been a winner, instead it was a real B movie.
Midnight Sun (2018)
A Coming of age story about Embracing Life
This is a movie you watch on a Friday or Saturday night. It has a slow pace at first, and an unrealistically well adopted perpetual optimist as the main character. Did enjoy the movie and was surprised to find out it was based on a real desease. Overall, emotionally touching and pulls you in. I'm curious if she sang her own songs, because the music was well done. Overall, a good Saturday night movie, with milenial overtones.
Home Run (2013)
Scott Elrod Makes the Movie
The performance by the lead actor "Scott Elrod" makes this movie worth watching. I'm in a mixed marriage, and my wife the Christian, lost interest in the movie despite to the strong religious overtones. As a Jew, I was fascinated by the use of religious values to help cure addictions; it's a strong and powerful message.
Vivica Fox also puts in a very strong performance as the lead character's agent (spokes person), so was believable in her role. As a public relations spokesperson, she plays her character exceptionally well, being able to profit from those she represents, yet knowing if they don't get help they will be worthless to herself & others.
I'm looking forward to seeing Scott Elrod in future leading roles, Hollywood can use another strong lead actor who's message isn't hypocritical.
I'm not sure why people didn't believe this was a baseball movie, with the constant flashbacks to the daemons of his fathers voice "haunting" him throughout the movie. The baseball cards in a closed box, representative of his inner child and letting them go at the end of the movie. Almost every scene was filmed at a baseball field or with a ball / ball; so how exactly is this not a baseball movie on the surface. It might have not been all filmed at the major leagues, but all players have to get their start somewhere. Whether at home growing up or in a little league type program.
This is overall a good movie which kept my interest throughout (yes, it slightly dragged at the 3/4 mark), with a positive message and some great lead acting.
Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006)

Sacha Baron Cohen is not only a comic genius, but is also a marketing genius. Hopefully IMDb will not mind sharing some links related to the movie on external sites with additional deleted scenes and staged press conferences. I think S.B.C.'s either created a new type of comedy genre or reinvented one that is long past.
These are all safe to view prior to the movie, but you may want to save them for after.
I came across these links on "The Movie Reporter dot com" site and thought they were worth posting:

Prison of Secrets (1997)
Based on a True Story
Director: Fred Gerber Year film was made: 1997 Genre: Drama Stars: Stephanie Zimbalist, Finola Hughes
Typical made for TV movie. It's a fun to watch, with "b" rated acting. I have to agree with the other viewer comment, that the main character gets what she deserved. You can't expect to steal money and get away with it - justice was served. Although I thought a 10 year sentence was excessive for a first offense, especially when she had to return the money. Also, most employers wouldn't have pursed charges for fear of negative publicity - although with a private company I guess it's more likely to pursue the charges. Where I work if you help your company save money then it's reflected in your bonus, I suspect that's the way it is most other work environments.
Here's the summary from Lifetime TV:
This is the nightmarish true story of a middle-class wife and mother who is found guilty of a white-collar crime and finds herself serving a prison sentence. While incarcerated, she witnesses the assaults of female prisoners by male guards and uncovers a prison prostitution ring. Outraged, she clandestinely informs her husband, a popular local-radio talk-show host, risking her life and her family's safety to successfully expose this injustice. Ultimately, 22 guards were fired or replaced by women.
