That Damn Michael Che (2021)
2nd season is terrible
Watched the first season and thought it was very funny probably had this rated a 9 then, but this second season so far it's like he gave up and just took the money and ran. I've only actually laughed to one skit and this wasn't until the 3rd or 4th episode of the season. Not sure I'll make it all the way through this season if the next episode is bad too. Only rated a 5 because the first season was so good. If this continues as is I hope they don't green light a 3rd season just because they seem to be trying to mirror the more famous black comedian Chappelle. I would like to know what changed between season 1 and 2 because the show definitely took a wrong turn.
Samaritan (2022)
Nothing really good here
This is a B movie all the way, nothing at all big or even medium budget here. The action sequences are terribly done. The set designs are so bad. Why are the buildings spray painted with like fake dirt, and everything is supposed to be dystopian but everything looks so clean at the same time. The acting is poor for basically everyone. The story is blah. They were definitely trying to jump on the superhero wave of movies without putting any budget into this. Only watched it cause it was a Sylvester Stallone movie but definitely one of his worst. Not worth the time, unless you enjoy below B action movies.
Day Shift (2022)
A Blade Comedy
Kind of like Blade but more funnier. Dave Franco is the best part of the humour in this movie, without him I don't think it's as good. I think the queen vampire role was definitely a miscast though, she just seemed out of place in this kind of movie, otherwise it was worth the watch.
The Man from Toronto (2022)
Worth watching if in the mood
Thought it was gonna be way worse than it was. It's definitely a Kevin Hart comedy and that's not a bad thing, I found most parts to be pretty funny. Good action sequences as well. Not a high budget movie at all. Thought it was slightly a little long though.
Antlers (2021)
Great atmosphere
The filming was really well done in this. The location footage is great (all BC, Canada). The suspense and story were good but I found near the end it seems like the film's budget took a plunge so they just kind of went with what they had and so the last 20 minutes felt a bit cheesy. Overall decent ok film.
Run the Burbs (2022)
First episode was ok
Really only checked this out because the guy from Kim's Convenience is in it. Casting is decent but I think they need to recast the daughter in the show. Her acting seems weak even for this show. Humour was ok but didn't laugh out loud to anything. Will give it another shot by watching episode 2. Maybe things get better and I'm wrong about certain casting.
Son of a Critch (2022)
Worth watching so far
With the popularity of the Goldbergs, it's nice to see a Canadian sort of version of it. Kind of grew up in this time period so it relates. Enjoyed the first episode so far and will definitely tune in for the next one. Casting seems right and it's funny.
The Turning (2020)
Not worth sitting through
Worst ending ever! I put up with sitting through this hoping it would all make sense in the end. Nope! The ending explains nothing and leaves the viewer with the biggest wtf ever moment. Worst ending in any movie ever.
B Positive (2020)
Not the worst new sitcom
I've actually found this sitcom to have it's moments. It's not the worst new sitcom I've seen. I'm 5 episodes in and I'm still watching. I find the blonde girl actually funny at times. The acting isn't the best but it isn't terrible either. I will continue to watch it even though I doubt it's getting another season based on ratings here.
