Doctor Who: Wild Blue Yonder (2023)
Up there with the best DW episodes of all time
Absolutely LOVED it! Strong "Midnight" and "The Waters of Mars" vibes, an overarching theme of what makes us who we are, disturbing special effects and the unparalleled camaraderie and deep-rooted friendship between the Doctor and Donna, his, hands down, best companion to date.
RTD delivers a thought-provoking, edge-of-your-seat suspenseful, scary and sentimental episode, David Tennant and Catherine Tate absolutely shine together... and, yes, Isaac Newton *was* hot!
The 10th/14th Doctor, Donna, and creepy, existential, theatrical-type episodes set in claustrophobic environments. I wish Doctor Who would be just that, for all eternity.
Lost: 316 (2009)
The second worst episode of the show, after "The One with Jack's Tattoo"
Lazy writing, terrible reactions from most of the people involved (only Hurley acts kinda normal), Sayid with NO lines, no answers to anything, just an endless line of more and more questions.
In its first seasons, Lost was able to generate mystery in an interesting and stimulating way. This episode creates questions because, apparently, it's *mandatory* -- it's like the writers think that the viewers won't be able to understand it's a Lost episode if it has no new questions.
But EVERYTHING about this installment is just SO. BAD. Yeah, sure, we'll probably get our answers later on -- preferably NOT in Mrs. Hawking's infodump way -- but, boy, the *way* the questions were posed really, *really* sucked.
IMDbrief: Why 'The Irishman' Is Scorsese's MCU Movie (2019)
Seriously, IMDB?
Finding similarities between Scorsese's masterpieces and MCU movies might have been IMDB's geeky idea of a joke. Well, it wasn't funny. In fact, it was quite possibly the most ridiculous cimena-related comment I've ever had the misfortune to hear. We get it, Mr. IMDbrief video guy, you're an MCU fanboy. In my opinion, that's... unfortunate, but hey, whatever floats your boat. Just don't embarrass yourself with trivial, utterly superficial comparisons like the ones made in this piece of video trash.
Scorsese's movies and MCU movies are both cinema, in the same sense that a gourmet 12-course Michelin-star dinner and a MacDonald's plastic burger are both food. The similarities between them end there.
Also, don't put "Joker" in the same bag as the other MCU movies, just because the titular character happens to be a member of that universe. "Joker" was a thought-provoking, gritty, socially and politically important movie. The MCU blockbusters are just fireworks for your retina.
