Better then the first one!
27 January 2024
I enjoyed in theater watching this movie. I have seen the first one (which was a great comedy). Didn't know what to expect because I thought that the story will repeat itself only with woman as main protagonist.

I was so wrong in a lot of ways. Yes, the woman was in the center of story but also all other roles from the first one found their places and the story was bigger and with more twists, some times even as a parody on itself. Was pretty fun, I was surprised that the pace didn't slow down until the end of film. All actors were great, from Milos and Aglaya to Mironova, Samoylenko and Okhlobystin triangle. Also Derevyanko as Napoleon was pretty funny in the end of the movie. Kirill Nagiev and Dibtseva didn't have a big roles this time but they were great in support of atmosphere of the first movie.

Waiting for third one!

P. S. They could return Aleksandra Bortich and make a triagle of Bikovic, Bortich and Tarasova in next one. Could be fun!

Great! Just great!

Finally real blockbuster! It's real pure action pack which will give you 2 hours of fun, suspension and will have you tied to your seat until start of end credits. In J.J.'s best manner movie is visually perfect and special effects are superb but the story and cast are real engine of this film. Cudos to writers and director who brought down the story in such way. The cast are brilliantly incorporated in story line with all original characters of USS Enterprise having their own "minute" of introduction. The actors fulfill it completely. What to say? Nice way to start you weekend. Take your best friend and go to movies. Take best seats. Buy popcorn. Enjoy movies. You will not regret. :))

Shop a ticket!

Beign able just to comment this title a day before it's US premiere feels good. And the same feeling I've got after screening. The movie is perfect comedy/romance stuff not entirely predictable (except, off course, happy ending). Story goes through something which, maybe in the lights of the near future, won't be so usual thing: shopping and shopping big with credit (magic) cards without thinking about how to pay it back. And then looking for a dream job and ending with a man of her dreams. This next few months will for sure define what is going to be the turn on global finance market, so time for this film is perfectly chosen - you can still enjoy it.

Isla and Hugh in leading roles have chemistry between them, but surely, as the title says, she is driving force in it. Prepare to smile a lot and sometimes laugh loudly. Support cast is strong and they done superb job. Goodman and Cusack as Isla's funny parents, John Lightgow is just strong appearance without enough space for his character, but C.S. Thomas is hilarious with her Frenchified Alette. The rest of cast is as funny as them and generally movie leaves you with happy face in the end. So take your prettier half and go to theater! And stop using credit cards...payback will catch us in May....

Great! Just great!!!

Clint is like a wine...older and better, richer in taste and potable to drink. Gran Torino is Grand Tornado of a movie, starting as a puff and finishing with tempest bolt. Film goes through fine line between comedy and drama, you laugh, smile, then you are afraid for main characters, you are laughing again and then you are struck with profound Shakespearian end. As real sculptor Clint models story into movie frame by frame, scene by scene, all down to last minute finale. You just feel joy by watching it. And it doesn't leave you after film is over. It just makes your day right. Hope to see more of this in future from Mr. Eastwood. And good luck in Oscars!

Heartless Sci-Fi
18 July 2007
It's a Sci-Fi action movie with a Charlize Theron. There is lots of action, but screenplay is without a heart. Miss Theron is really, along with Marton Czokas, the brightest movie point and she really shines in a role. I think is time for her to play some romantic comedy. (I loved her portrait of a vulnerable/stubborn with heart of love southern lady in "The Legend of Bagger Vance"). Maybe even some Henry James or Jane Ostin... Johnny Lee did a good job with his villain from a shade, a fanatic with greed for power, maybe in years this roles will be his trade mark... Film is fine directed with a good "future" atmosphere made with shots angles and appropriate scenography... To conclude: A good action film with fast but heartless story and with fine actors. To expect something more than that: no. To watch: yes. In addition: only miss Theron in some futuristic outfit really good looking....

Watch it..

Not a bad movie. The story line is simple, but actors and jokes are compensating it. It's a movie of epoch like earlier director's work ("Zona Zamfirova") set in end of 19'th century in Nis.

On visual plan more improvement than directors previous works. Seems that photography director was mindfully chosen.

Bjelogrlic shines in his part and the rest of crew (Manda, Z.Todorovic and even Djuricko - even cause his acting in the start is annoying but till end of film we see that there is order in his overacting).

D. Stajnfeld character really looks like a young girl with no experience what so ever that I was surprised she is a real actress playing in National theater in Belgrade. Good job!

A.Dobra (standardno dobra) standardly good, N.Ninkovic not bad but could be better(she should be careful playing with accents - her herceg accent is sometimes to strong;this is matter with rest of crue too - guys we can hear that!).

Z.Cvijanovic unfortunately is to deep in Mile's ('Mile protiv tranzicije') characters that every roll since that is little bit of Mile. Zoka wake up! Dump Mile...

A nice episode by E.Beslagic really gives fun tone...

The rest of actors a o.k. and they just complete smiling atmosphere of the movie.

Overall: shine funny movie with almost no plot but gives you a happy face going out of theater. Recommendable!

Almost Oscar worthy...

C.Crowe's latest piece really shows his progress toward making a complete work of art.

This movie by genre couldn't be assorted in one category. It's in category of films: movies that fulfills you with a spectrum of fillings from laugh to sadness, from melancholy and exaltation and vice versa.

The story is strong. It leads from overcome terror of modern society based on race for more profit, more money, where a person is distincted from his roots, his family and conversed to false values;it goes to that world of real merits, where everybody's heart lies: your family.

Colors and sounds in the movie are wonderful. The music is sometimes loud but always on right places. Years of Crowe's work in world of music industry really paid of here.

Acting is great. Even O.Bloom surrounded with great cast shows progress in his acting abilities.

K.Dunst really surprises with her craft. Her skills to jump from one character to another show potential of a great actress.

Brilliant support role given by S.Sarandon shines trough to movie. The rest of cast are on her track.

Only thing which should be better chosen was ending. The real finale of movie which gives you bonfire of emotions is set some 15 min before the end. The movie should be cut here and not prolong for another movie inside the movie (almost documentary on mid America). Even this prolonged ending was obviously important to director it's not so important to story. It is just emptying sack of emotions fulfilled in real film finale.

Other thing which bothers me was (being a Christian) cremation of father of O.Bloom's character. I even think that it would be funnier that cremation was only fake one to make joke on Bloom. And I still think that America is Christian land.

Bottom line: it's a movie worth of watching more than once.

So go in theater and enjoy...

Great film, excellent performance

Powerful war movie with a love story.

Photography is beautiful, and with a influence of The bridge on the river Kwai.

Acting is excellent and no weak spot in the movie there is on it's behalf. Benjamin Bratt surprisingly strong role and the rest of crew very good. Joseph Fiennes standardly above ordinary.

No too much American patriotism (like the flag or empty speeches) but the story is aiming for real feelings of ordinary people in war times. Japanes are pictured like cruel and merciless which is obviously (probably they were like that!) done for the reason of movie finale where no compassion is left for them.

More war movies like this should be done...

No heart and soul in film
10 June 2005
Movie is balancing between "True lies" comedy/action type and reemphasized marriage drama. Brad and Angelina are with no doubt great performers but it seems that in way this combination of genres any actor would be confused. Or to come down to ground level: How you can expect from a character who is killing people for living (lots of people and with no regrets) to be involved in real family drama? Or how can you believe them that they are real (so you can connect with a character in drama)? It's a pity that chemistry which is glowing and obvious between this fine actors was not being covered with a story and directing better. So either director should stick to "try lies" type and forget about drama or vise versa. At the end when you going out of cinema a bitter bit stops in your throat that this could be better. Someone should write a nice script for this Brad/Angelina duo and directed Academy Award performance which they could obviously give. Some English drama or love story but with real characters in which we could believe and not this summer hit killing everyone around kind of thing. To conclude kids will probably love the action, fans of Brad/Angelina would probably wait for DVD with more nude scenes and some of us will hope that they will match up again in a real movie.

Nice comedy and romance
16 May 2005
I went to movie theater without great expectations for this film. It exceeded my expectations. It seems that winning formula for good(great)romantic comedy is the one from Notting Hill: British environment, British leading and support actors and an American (girl called Anna;just joking) lead actress. This combinations always has a charm which is most important for the atmosphere of the movie. Paul Bettany as a leading actor drives the movie. His charm is irresistible; it's very cogent that any American girl would fall for him. Kirsten Dunst is on the other hand charming too; she poses some sweetness which even when she is speaking bad words allow you to think she doesn't mean it. Of course, this is probably merit of character she is playing in film, so what I meant to say is that she knows her acting. Other supporting actors are helping this drama rolling on. Bernard Hill (king Theoden;LOR)and Eleanor Bron as Paul's(Peter's) mother and father are in moments very funny; as is his brother (James McAvoy who looks like a younger brother of Russel Crowe) brings funny stuff too. Visually movie is very HiTech. Because of this, it was possible to make a lot of exciting tennis points with a little actors effort. Seems that they were playing in front of green screen most of their tennis scenes;cause some of the plays are worthy of best tennis plays in history of tennis. Even so you don't see this cause CG effects are so good but you only think if Paul or Kirsten are so well playing. Assuredly CG doesn't compromises story telling; it's in service of it. At the end I didn't tell anything about Sam Neill performance. I will agree with that he, "a brilliant and completely lovable actor, is totally wasted in this role". Despite that the film doesn't lose anything on this fact. So to conclude take your sweet heart or some friends a go and enjoy in movie. As some American newspapers would say - thumbs up!
