It's just a good reboot, simple as that!
15 January 2022
Based on Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory starring the late Gene Wilder, this film is arguably as inventive as the original and a unique experience that brings so much to the table .

Burton's version of Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) is a bizzare, yet extremely likable take on the classic character with new storytelling elements added in to give more depth to Wonka than ever before.

As much as I personally love the original, I find myself coming back to the reboot just as much, almost as if the film is a missing piece to the puzzle and to be honest, you can't say that about most films of this nature, but Charlie And The Chocolate Factory lives up to the source material unlike most films that attempt to alter a classic formula.

See You Later Space Cowboy!
3 January 2022
Although the casting for this reboot was odd, the actors were surprisingly phenomenal and grew on me with each episode. As a fan of the original anime I had high expectations and I'd be lying to say those expectations haven't been met with this version.

In Cowboy Bebop you follow ex-con turned bounty hunter Spike as he takes on menacing foes while simeltaneously confronting his past. It's an emotional rollercoaster with gorgeous music, quirky villains and a variety of unique planets that are so beautifully crafted it's almost overwhelming! Cowboy Bebop is a new take on a classic formula, but still retains the retro styling, fantastic soundtrack and phenomenal storyline of the original. I don't understand the hate and it's because of this that I would highly recommend this series to anyone.

A Love Letter To Fans!
14 December 2021
Ghostbusters Afterlife is the film that fans such as myself have been waiting for, this title oozes with inspiration clearly taken from the originals, but if it ain't broke don't fix it! Why change the formula when you can just stick to the same award winning recipe?! Everything from the story, presentation and soundtrack draws parallels to that of my childhood favorite franchise, but somehow manages to add to the franchise in ways unprecedented before. Not only is Ghostbusters Afterlife a great film, but it is also a great example to Hollywood for how a reboot should be done. It doesn't disrespect the source material that made the series great in the first place and I applaud that.

A Forgotten Classic Not To Be Missed
27 November 2019
"The Black Cauldron" is a Disney classic that few have had the chance to discover, but it's better late than never to experience this dark, strange land of Prydain. What makes this film so great is how it is a complete paradox in comparison to other Disney films due to how unique and macabre the scenery is when compared to the typical Disney film. In The Black Cauldron, you won't find a musical, but you will find an amazing and timeless story line with many hidden references and nods to the paranormal. The story surrounds a pig keeper by the name of Taran who must venture out to defeat the Horned King (Basically Satan) so that the antagonist does not use the legendary Black Cauldron to his advantage. On the journey Taran runs into the beautiful Princess Eilonwy and a strange, goofy creature by the name of Gurgi. What makes this film so great is how despite all seriousness and how dark the plot is, characters like Gurgi and various situations faced by the protagonists add so much humor and charm to a rather dystopian medieval world, which not only makes the film more enjoyable as a whole, but goes as another example of it's genius. Other than the phenomenal story line and dark humor, this film is widely credited for pioneering legendary director Tim Burton's career and legacy with Disney as a brand. Burton worked as a concept artist during the making of this film and his beautiful yet grotesque art style is portrayed phenomenally due to the significance of his work in the film's art style. The only heart wrenching aspect of this film is how it has been credited for being one of the worst-grossing Disney films in box office history, this is due to how the film only made 22 Million U.S Dollars despite it's budget which was nearly double that at 44 Million U.S Dollars, it is quite a shame that this film was never really appreciated until it got a small, but growing cult following through the years, but one thing is certain, YOU MUST WATCH THIS FILM! It is unlike anything else and it should be preserved as a fascinating part of Disney history.

The Irken Empire Has Risen Again!
23 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The Invader Zim series was something I really wanted to dive into, but I didn't know where to start! When (Enter The Florpus) recently came out on streaming services I found the perfect opportunity to discover a series I had missed out on for so long and it is safe to say it was worth my time 100 PERCENT. The charm of Invader Zim Enter The Florpus is the artstyle, characters, music and dozens of other examples that go to show that this film/series is truly a work of art. The gorgeous hand drawn visuals mixed in with 3D animations is something I miss from the years of Nickelodeon's prime, but thankfully that style we loved for so long is back and better than ever. The story on the other hand is another achievement in it's own right, with humorous dialogue, wacky characters and over the top situations, this is a tale that will be heard for generations. The plot consists of Dib and his sister Gaz trying to once again stop Zim the Irken Invader from destroying the Earth! The pacing is well done with ironic humor from Dib's father Professor Membrane insisting that none of the chaotic events taking place are scientifically possible. Don't forget the adorable GIR (Zim's Sidekick) and the tall ones (Irken Leaders) who regret giving Zim his mission in the first place! (IRONY) The music in this film was absolutely splendid and a total joy to hear from beginning to end, I feel that this was the comeback Invader Zim needed in all departments, but I hope this is not a one-time comeback, but rather a full-fledged reboot series in the style of the original. Overall I give this film a 10 for being the very definition of a perfect comeback Thanks For Reading!

Hellboy (2019)

Action Packed Fun From Start To Finish!
19 April 2019
I truly feel that the reviews for Hellboy (2019) have not done the film justice. I feel as though this film utilized it's 50 million dollar budget quite well. Most films these days have a budget two or three times that. I loved the action-packed fights and the satisfying visuals.Watching Hellboy slice and dice ghoulish foes was just so refreshing and satisfying and it showed me that they really tried to give the film a unique visual style. I feel that the budget does show it's downsides in some scenes, but for the most part I do not feel that these cons outweigh the pros. Another thing I loved about the film was the use of dark humor. The humor in this flick was well utilized, gritty and unique compared to anything I have seen in a long time. The story was also very well done. I felt that they really did their best to explain everything about the Hellboy universe in the 2 hour run time they were given and I appreciate this film for expanding my interest with this franchise. Definitely a fun movie to watch and one you should definitely check out at least once!

It Truly Felt Like Teen Titans!
15 September 2018
Despite the obvious change in art direction this animated film truly feels like the original Teen Titans when compared to the show it is based on which is ironic, but you have to truly see it to believe it. The film is centered around a story in which Robin abandons his friends Beast-Boy,Cyborg,Raven and Starfire in pursuit of making his own Hollywood movie and gaining fame. This results in chaos and havoc which makes for an entertaining ride from start to finish. I won't spoil the ending, but let me tell you that you won't be disappointed. Story aside, lets look at the visuals of the film. The film is visually a beefy version of the animated series. While the original signature look of the Teen Titans franchise is much preferred by fans this film is based off of the re-boot therefore meaning you won't get that visual style with this film, but despite this I felt that the characters all looked charming and the scenery was detailed and colorful really giving it a hand-drawn look. The music was great and featured multiple pop-culture references which really helped the pacing of the film and made it even more enjoyable and fun to watch. Overall I think you should definitely give this movie a chance. It will prove you wrong like it proved me wrong because I was not expecting much going in, but at the end I got one of my favorite animated films in recent memory!

Great Potential, Poor Execution
13 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The Happytime Murders is a film that really tried and I really do feel that they put their all into making this film, but it seems like an extremely tricky formula to pull off. I mean, when is the last time you heard of an explicit detective movie starring puppets?! I feel as though this plot was doomed from the start, but I am impressed by the effort that went into the film. The puppets look phenomenal and strongly detailed which gives the film that signature Henson look. Another thing I loved about this film was the retro car that Phil Philips drove because it gave the movie so much more charm. The story in the film revolves around a puppet detective by the name of Phil Phillips. Phil needs to solve a murder mystery with his arch-rival Connie Edwards who was also ironically his co-worker. This results in extremely crazy dialogue and action. There are scenes though that are too over-done and totally strange which had me thinking "What was that?!" rather than laughing. The sexual scenes in the film were disturbing to the point where I felt that they were too overdone even for an R-rated film. The end results in betrayal because the individual who had committed the murders and crimes was the same puppet that opened up the murder case in the first place! This did not really surprise me because the story was somewhat predictable due to the fishy situations and interactions between the different characters. Overall I feel as though this movie aimed for the stars but hit the ground hard. They tried making a great film and they would have been close with some tweaking, but making an R-rated crime movie starring puppets is very hard to do therefore I applaud them on that part.

Delightfully Weird and Quirky
31 July 2018
Tales of Halloween is low budget and it is very aware of that which just gives the film charm. This film consists of 10 fast paced horror stories that are all messed up and weird in their own way. The first story had me thinking "What the heck?" for one hour straight, but I would rather not spoil it and leave it to you to watch. This film is filled with gore and blood gushes everywhere throughout each story. Every single story in this film is well written and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire 1 hr 30 minutes this film lasts. The music in the movie was actually really good and a pleasant surprise and the visuals while being mediocre are expected for such a low budget film and considering that I won't be too harsh on this flick. This film is also very similar to the Tales From The Crypt series which really made me want to watch the film in the first place because I personally adore that series. The stories were all short paced and kept the movie going at a constant pace never leaving a single dull moment. This is a MUST WATCH for horror fans.

Don't Listen To The Critics!
8 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom is a movie about dinosaurs and people being eaten by dinosaurs. It is the most simple concept ever, but yet the critics still nitpick about it. The same folks who gave a film like Last Jedi a 91% gave this film 51%. I honestly wonder how much they were being paid! This film takes place after the first Jurassic World. A volcano is about to explode on the island and the dinosaurs are about to go extinct AGAIN. The mission? Save all the dinosaurs so that they don't go extinct once more. The film always kept me on the edge of my seat. The underwater scene with that huge dinosaur taking a bite out of that submarine was action-packed and epic! Soon things take a turn for the worst the main villain known as Mills is trying to get the dinosaur back not for the sake of saving them, but for turning a profit and selling them to wealthy bidders. John Hammond's former business partner known as Benjamin Lockwood finds out and tells Milsl to call the police only to be choked to death by Miills. Then the granddaughter of Mr.Lockwood goes to the lab and uncovers Mill's dirty secret to sell the dinosaurs. She goes to tell her grandfather only to find him dead. The team gets back from the island and witnesses the auction of the dinosaurs. Things go haywire and the star of the show the Indoraptor escapes and causes multiple fatalities. Owen and his friends save the day and Mills is properly arrested. My only pet peeve with this movie was the ending. I did not really notice it after watching the film, but as time passed I realized how dumb the end was. The little girl allows the dinosaurs to escape and Owen and his friends do nothing about it. This means that mankind is doing nothing to stop this self-inflicted extinction. Ian Malcom even says in the first film that god selected dinosaurs for extinction and I could not agree more in this case. The visuals were great! Some of the best visuals I have seen in any film. The dinosaurs were extremely lifelike and the lush landscapes were very well done. The music was alright, but it could have been better. I prefer the music from The Lost World Jurassic Park and the original film over the music in this film. I don't think you should listen to the critics to base your opinion on this film heck don't even base your opinion off of mine! Please watch the film yourself and make your own judgements.

Piranha 3D (2010)

Quirky, Weird, And Unique!
24 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I get it. This film might not be for everybody, but that's the point! This film pokes fun at the horror classics such as the JAWS series. The whole point of this movie is that it tries to be weird and cheesy on purpose and that if you go into it with that mindset you will have a great time. The story starts off when a teenage boy wants to work with this weird film producer who wants to produce some suggestive material. Anyways this boy's stupidity gets to him and he basically ends up leaving his annoying little brother and sister on their own. Little does he know that the waters they are filming on are infested with killer Piranha's and an extinct species of Piranha at that! Christopher Lloyd who played Doc.Brown in the Back to the Future series stars in this film as a scientist which was an amazing touch. Just seeing him in this film brought a smile to my face. Getting back to the point the Piranhas keep breeding and end up smelling the scent of swimmers and they end up eating them in gruesome ways. Some of these scenes while being cheesy really did freak me out which is what a horror movie is made to do. At the end the boy and (most of his friends) are saved, but they end up finding out that there is a massive Mother Piranha which is breeding the smaller Piranhas. The story while being quirky and strongly reminding me of an 80's horror film was interesting and there was not a single dull moment. The visuals for the most part were decent. The one pet peeve I have is that the movie tries to be way too edgy by showing lots of suggestive imagery and featuring loud hip-hop music. I personally thought that was jammed into the movie and that the film could live without it. There were some bad CGI effects in the beginning, but for the most part I thought the Piranhas looked extremely cool and gave the film much needed charm. Those bulging red eyes, scaly skin, and sharp fangs made these creatures goofy yet spooky at the same time. The music was not that great for a film of this type to be honest. 80's pop music or 70's disco would have done this retro style story justice! The acting was okay. It was no Blade Runner,Jaws or Empire Strikes Back in terms of acting, but most people would not notice the cheesy sequences. Overall I really enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to any horror or comedy fan. It is a movie that one might hate and one might love! You will have to watch it and decide for yourself. I have a feeling this will go down as a cult classic (:

HORRID
22 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This movie had a lot to live up to. Forbidden Planet while not being my favorite sci-fi film is still a respectable title for how much it has contributed to the genre with Robby the Robot and it's hand-crafted martian landscapes and strange immersive soundtrack, but this film is completely predictable and makes absolutely no sense. The story begins when a curious boy finds Robby the Robot and fixes him up. My first question is how is this kid able to rebuild a robot?! He is five! Even for a science fiction film this seems extremely absurd. The boy connects Robby to the super computer without any adult supervision. I get it this is a FICTIONAL story, but who the hell would let a kid mess around with a government super-computer?! Anyways, the kid ends up evading US Troops and enters a rocket which somehow flies to space. The computer takes control of Robby and Robby almost kills the kid until the father of the boy finally turns off the supercomputer. Two words COMMON SENSE those are two things this movie lacks. The only good thing is the music and Robby the Robot. I believe this is a sequel to Forbidden Planet since it was on the BluRay disc as an extra. If this was a sequel to that film then OH BOY THEY MESSED UP!
