Er dai yao jing (2017)
Entertaining
It looks like it was written and directed by 12 years old kids, but I believe it comes from Asian culture of movie making. The demonic world is interesting and its make me giggle a bit how the the main bureau characters are posy. But what really makes me love this movie are cute animal sounds. Also, if you like furry romance or unnatural jumping, you can add star from each.
Skybound (2017)
Bad, but not too bad
Add a star if you are young and like aeroplanes, thrilling mysteries and teenage love triangles. Add another star if like to chill while watching cheap acting and plot. Add even third star if you like one room movies with character dynamics, but don't mind already knowing what will happen next.
Simple Creature (2016)
Boring, but...
The first half of the movie felt like twice as long as the movie really was, but there was something that I couldn't just put away. Second half was more intense and I had to put things away from my hands that I could focus better.
Add +1 to score from each you like: Slow life like storytelling; Sappy love-story; Humanity issues.
The Northlander (2016)
Not entirely bad.
Good for couple of larpers playing at desert.
If you like to watch slow movie of one looking himself made by amateurs, documentaries ancient natives telling stories at nature and camping videos from summer holidays, you might even enjoy it. For anyone other, I suggest avoiding this, unless you have fidget spinner or something else to keep you occupied.
Merisairas (1996)
Abandon your hope
This great mood movie, but do not expect have many happy moments when you watch this.
This is dark horror, which gives one of greatest monsters in movies ever. Mysterious cargo, which won't do anything, it just sit there safely in corroding barrels and its presence is slowly rotting away morale and sanity of crew members, while some dutifully try to do their job to the end. Most characters are bit hollow, but if care them, you are watching wrong movie.
The soundtrack is excellent in monotonic dullness and I would love to download and play it whenever I want to sulk.
Flight World War II (2015)
Welcome into twilight zone
This was not a masterpiece in any scale. It looked cheap and it got plot holes big enough to fly airplane through, but I did enjoy the whole movie. So if you wan't light watchable movie, like new things, don't care much of excessive violence and think that imposed romance between main characters is waste of screen time, this would be definitely your choice.
I'm fan of historic "what if" and I like to see how people react and change to cope the reality when they meet something impossible. This definitely hit on the spot. If another studio will make this again in future with bigger budget, I would watch it again, but I'm not sure if they would make it better.
The Hudsucker Proxy (1994)
Looks great, but morally awful
First, it looks great and for moments, the architecture is awesome like Batman or Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.
The main character seems to be nice, but is he?
He has given one task, which he won't do. Instead of giving the blue letter, he start to promote himself and his big idea. He has also double standards as he fires the piccolo for doing the same thing. Note that piccolo did his own works very well. And finally, he overtook the company by using the letter he has stolen.
He wont care much about people around him. Saving the beautiful lady and giving her a job? Well, he seems to be more interested of what his 'secretary' does on her free time than on her 'job'. Also, he threats people when drunk.
And the moral lesson: No matter if you are competent or work hard, some lucky idiot will take it all.
Soldiers of Fortune (2012)
Bad but enjoyable
Forget the romance or intelligent plot. The main thing in this movie is manly guns and booms and shooting some badly scripted, badly acted baddies.
Normally, this would be worth of 6, but I add:
+1 Star for easy and relaxing fun to watch. It had some mandatory "emotional non-fun", but I couldn't take them seriously.
Another +1 Star for actors, who made the most despicable rich creeps you would love at end. Their chemistry with each other have bit of the charm of The Flight of the Phoenix (1965) and The Dirty Dozen (1967).
Just give your brains some rest and grew an another chest-hair by watching this movie.
