The story of Jesus told by the apostle John
6 April 2015
Brought to us by the Voice of the Martyrs. The story of Jesus told via flashback by the apostle John....the only remaining original member of Jesus' inner circle. Now an old man, the apostle John recounts the life and times of Jesus to some Roman guards. The animation is amazing. Very realistic with some blood shone, probably not for viewing by small children. If I had to give it a rating, I would say Y-12. But definitely a good movie...better than some live-action movies in that it sticks to the New Testament Gospels for the most part without a lot of subplots like a lot of stuff coming out of Hollywood the last couple decades. 8 out of 10.

Finding Bigfoot (2011– )

Better than reality TV
5 January 2015
Why watch reality TV when you can watch 4 people get paid to search all of North America and other countries for an ape-like creature that probably doesn't exist ! This show has very high entertainment value. The four field researchers are very believable. I like the fact that Ranae is a skeptic. She keeps the show grounded as the other 3 truly believe in the existence of Bigfoot. Although we never see Bigfoot, Sasquatch, a Yeti, etc....there are always unexplained noises on the digital audio or red blips on the FLIR. Lots of technology is used in the show but the researchers also rely heavily on first-hand eye witness accounts. I remember the Bigfoot craze from the 70's and this show builds on that. Will our 4 researchers ever find Bigfoot ? Tune in and find out !

Worth watching for hardcore science fiction fans
11 July 2014
This show combines elements of some 70's Gene Roddenberry attempted TV shows, some elements of Blade Runner, and a couple of nods to 2001: Space Odyssey, if you pay close attention. It takes place in the future and features a lot of cool technology, the main bit is Molly (Halle Berry) and her husband's robotic son. This is all part of her husband's dream to develop a line called Humanichs. Another major plot is that Molly finds herself inexplicably pregnant, even though she's been in space alone for 13 months. She keeps having flashbacks to an event that almost seems like a dream, where her first husband/boyfriend visited her on the space ship. Of course, there is no evidence to support that he was ever there. A sub-plot seems to involve a past colleague/astronaut who was believed to have committed suicide but visits Molly at her house one night and warns her not to trust anyone at the private space agency she works for. This show could end up being a really good show. Or it could go by the way of Space 1999....too hardcore sci-fi for the average viewer. Only time will tell.

Don't view the movie as something that is happening now....
21 April 2014
Rather, view the movie as something that could definitely happen in the future. Kevin Sorbo's character is very realistic. Most people have a bad habit of ignoring God when everything is going great, but blaming God when something bad happens.

Josh Wheaton is not a real person. Instead, he needs to be seen as the representation of idealistic youth. I think all of us can relate. At some point as a young adult we see either our parents or some adult struggling and we try to reach out and help him/her.

All-in-all not a bad movie. Just one that needs to be seen from the viewpoint that these events potentially could happen. For instance, in 1950, how many people would have thought they would take prayer out of school in just a few decades ?

Things do change.

Not sure why rating on IMDb is so low
6 June 2013
The pacing of this movie matches the story-line. You can feel it building to a crescendo...the ending is poignant. While Jack Nicholson's character is devolving, on a self-destructive course towards insanity, David Morse's character, on the other hand, is trying to rebuild his life. Guilt is eating both men alive from the inside.

Angelica Houston's performance as the ex-wife is spot-on. When she finally opens up to Nicholson at the little cafe at midnite, he is no longer in a receptive mood. He's past the point of no return.

The subject matter is heavy. How 2 people...both father and drunk driver...deal with their hate and guilt after the death of the daughter...is not a feel-good movie. But I think it's a subject that many of us have thought about...probably hoping and praying it would never happen to us.

Many good performances here. David Morse is amazing as the reformed drunk driver...searching for his lost soul. Priscilla Barnes (from Three's Company) shows up as a stripper, and Nicholson's sometime girlfriend. She is very believable and it's a shame Hollywood typecast her as they did. One can tell from her performance here that she is capable of so much more.

All-in-all, a very solid film. Not great, but definitely worth watching.
