Ms. Marvel (2022)
3/10
I went in completely open minded...
16 June 2022
But sweet Jesus this is painful. I'll say I don't think it's the lead actresses fault she's decently likable. It's more so the script, the terrible music that's forced in there, the awful depiction of high school kids yet again (how many kids are just dribbling basketballs in the highway) so many lines belong on r/FellowKids. "Sweet! I'll DM you the deets!" This is a Disney channel series for sure. Feels super forced like they only wanted this character in the MCU to be diverse, not cause it's a story worth telling. Feels like many things nowadays.

I'll probably finish the series just cuz it's be weird to not see this one chunk of the MCU but there's zero chance I'll watch again. I've had to pause so many times from cringing.

Arcane (2021– )

Just stop reading reviews and start watching it
27 November 2021
I have known absolutely nothing about League of Legends. I thought it was some rip off of World of Warcraft or something (which I also know nothing about). Basically a fantasy world that's all I knew. There's been few shows where I care about the characters as much as I do these ones. I'm starting it over now so I can fully comprehend all that happens. But this show is a work of art. Everything about it is well thought out and so much heart was put into it. Season 2 can't come fast enough. I think I am in love with Jinx.

Eternals (2021)
5/10
I genuinely feel like I watched a different film than the critics
6 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I don't get how a film like Ant-Man & the Wasp can get the kind of reviews it did while this gets the kind it did. That movie was so bland and boring and forgettable. I think the same for the MCU Spider-Man films as well as Thor Ragnarok. I do not understand what makes those good films at all. I feel like such little imagination went into them. While I think representation is important, it doesn't resonate with me personally being a straight white male. So all that aside, I seriously thought this was a freaking awesome movie. I saw so many reviews saying it was the least fun MCU film or way too exposition heavy... and it was confusing how it jumped back and forth through time. I found it to be a pretty simple and straightforward story to follow. The only real exposition dump was when Ashirem or whatever the main celestial name is was explaining everything to Sersi. Otherwise I never felt overloaded with information. I thought the action scenes were insane! Makari has the best speedster special effects I've seen. So much fun to watch. The story had some solid twists, maybe nothing revolutionary, but very few MCU films have that... I don't know man. That ending battle was awesome, the deviants, while they looked like creatures from Pandora in Avatar, still had their own unique feel to them. No I didn't follow absolutely everything, it'll take another viewing for me to do that probably, but overall I thought this was a fantastic entry in the MCU. How in God's name this is the lowest scored film I have no idea. I absolutely loved Shang Chi and put that in my top 5 MCU films and after my first viewing of Eternals I genuinely feel like this is pretty high up in my ranking as well. I officially could not care less what critics say about movies anymore. They also said the post credit scenes were insane, which they weren't at all. I guess if you're a REAL die hard Marvel fan you'll like them. But if you are, you've already seen the movie so yeah. If a celebrity cameo is a reason to flip out than yikes.

Some elements are good, some straight up humorous
18 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I thought this film had some great kills and definitely stood out when it comes to Halloween films by going down the route of the town forming a mob to hunt Michael. Every time Michael was on screen I was enjoying myself. It's the middle of and when it's one continuous story, usually the middle chapter isn't the best (Dark Knight and Spider-Man 2 are stand alone stories, so this is more comparable to say The Two Towers arguably being the weakest LOTR film, even tho that was still great, just compared to the beginning and end though). The thing about Halloween movies is they only work because the people are so damn stupid. Like some really laughable parts of the film were the beginning... in such a short time period, young Hawkins showed us how he's the worst cop of all time. He shot at Michael and of course missed terribly and then didn't even follow him the direction he went... and then in the house he shot his partner that Michael was strangling instead of getting closer to Michael and just shooting him that way. People either stand so far away they can't shoot him (everyone is just terrible with a gun) or they get so close that he's able to just reach out and grab them. The second time is the black woman dressed as a nurse shooting at him, and at this point it was like they were parodying horror films. I mean her shots were so off it wasn't even funny, but was.

I can see how people might be rolling their eyes at the ending. I sort of was. I mean he's just invincible. I think they're going the supernatural route that like Halloween 6 went... but David Gordon Green still says he isn't supernatural... I don't know. I mean I feel like the only way to actually kill him is to chop his head off like Laurie thought she did in H20. All I know is I'm definitely seeing Halloween Ends as I'm very curious how they'll wrap this up. Apparently there's a 4 year time jump between Kills and Ends so it'll catch up to the current year it's releasing in (as if that matters). I'm guessing both Laurie and Michael die in it, and Allyson lives. Or maybe Allyson is given the opportunity to end Michael but has to sacrifice Laurie too to do so or something like that... might make for an interesting finale. It seems like the only recurring characters left are Laurie, Allyson, Lindsey and Hawkins.

Halloween (I) (2018)
6/10
Slightly above average Halloween movie
12 October 2021
Pretty cliche. What bugs me the most is they called it Halloween... but it's a sequel... so in this timeline the films go

Halloween Halloween Halloween Kills Halloween Ends

Like there's already a remake called Halloween also... and this one ignores those remakes and everything after the original Halloween. So why not just call this one Halloween Returns or something, it's really not tough to come up with a subtitle. Halloween Kills doesn't make much sense but at least it's different from Halloween.

Lots of cliches like "see there's nothing there" oh actually there was something there omg. And movies nowadays that need to use loud sound effects to make it scarier just are pretty cheap to me. The thing about Halloween is it was always like decently realistic, I mean this movie could happen in reality as opposed to Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm St or Child's Play...

But what's so unrealistic is that Michael seems to literally be immortal, he's strong as hell despite not getting any exercise his entire life and being 60 years old. And the Haddonfield authorities must be the worst crime unit on the planet.

Anyways, obviously this movie isn't trying to be perfect or logical, it's a slasher film, if you like those then definitely worth watching, but probly won't stand out in your mind much. As unnecessarily filthy as the Rob Zombie remake was, it at least stuck in my memory because of how nauseating and realistic some of the violence was. Some kills in this one, like Mike stepping on a dude's head and squashing it like a pumpkin, made me laugh.

This is probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite Halloween film. Which isn't saying much.

Honestly I think it's better than Seinfeld
8 October 2021
I have to pause countless times before Larry reacts because I'm just already in laughter imagining how he reacts. He gets into a hassle with absolutely everyone he comes across. The writing is creative, especially since it's just story outlines and the rest is improv. And the music couldn't be better. I love you Larry David. I wish I could see more interactions between him and Jason Alexander since Costanza is based on him. It's like him getting into a hassle with himself.

Top 5 MCU films for me, maybe top 3
8 October 2021
This film isn't perfect, I felt like they honestly could have kept it going with the feel of the first half of the film and maybe save the more mystical special effects for a sequel, kind of felt like 2 movies jammed together. But regardless, both halves were great. I think the first half was a bit better and the ending got a bit jumbled with the CGI, but I feel like the more I watch it and am able to process everything the more I'll love it. All I know is I can't wait to watch it again, and I can't wait to see Shang-Chi with the other MCU heroes. Wenwu is one of the best MCU villains so far, maybe the best after Thanos. The humor was fantastic and the bus scene is probably one of the best scenes in the MCU. Choreography was brilliant, cinematography as well. I will say I wish they saved Razor Fist as a future villain (but then we wouldn't have gotten the insane bus scene), and definitely wish they went all out for Death Dealer, or saved him for a sequel as well. I thought he was such a badass character that we only got to see the tip of the iceberg of his potential. Super unique design to him. I do kind of wish Shang-Chi had a superhero name of some sort, kind of throws me off that his Marvel title is just his name, but I guess that's the case for Thor and Loki too. And some of the Netflix heroes if you count them. Anyways I'm really nitpicking now. But great MCU film. Still feels pretty formulaic, but it's own thing at the same time.

This is just rude to Hillenburg's legacy
13 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Arguably, anything past like season 4 or 5 of spongebob has been a disgrace to the iconic first few seasons and the first movie, and a lot of that took place while Hillenburg was still with us, so I assume he didn't really care. But I don't get how this happens with so many things that were once funny... it's like they just forget what it was that made them funny and turn to this formulaic, soulless trash. I had to turn it off shortly after they got to Atlantic City. And this was way too similar (but far worse) to the first Spongebob film... they literally have King Poseidon instead of Neptune, and Plankton using the king to send spongebob on a quest. And for people who say "oh relax it's just a dumb kids show" no, that's not what spongebob originally was, it was art, comedic genius, iconic and major piece of cartoon history, arguably the most successful children's show ever. They absolutely must be paying critics, there's no way we saw the same movie and it got a green score on metacritic and fresh on rotten tomatoes, there's just no way. And WHY do they need to change the animation style?? Not absolutely everything needs to be 3D animation, spongebob was 100% better 2D. I'm so tired of franchises getting totally disrespected because MONEY. But that's a reality that we'll never go away. Ironically Mr Krabs hires that robot to automate his business for MONEY, that's what it feels like Nickelodeon has done, hired robots to make Spongebob now instead of creative people. The Keanu/Snoop Dogg/Danny Trejo (these movies are like Super Bowl ads, just fully relying on celebrity cameos in place of clever content) made me have to pause the film multiple times because I was cringing so hard. Oh my God it was painful, they must have given Snoop Dogg a ton of money to absolutely backhand his reputation like that. Anything new in this film was terrible and the rest were recycled ideas they've already done a million times. They've already had an Atlantis episode, the whole first films plot like i mentioned earlier, and Spongebob losing Gary and needing to find him. This movie is the definition of cash grab, and ironically it didn't even get to release in theaters, but set up this new spin-off spongebob series that looks equally bad. This franchise has gone on far past its welcome, and I'm sad this is what some kids will know spongebob as.

South Park: South ParQ Vaccination Special (2021)
Season 24, Episode 2
4/10
Pretty big letdown
11 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I love South Park, it's my favorite show of all time and the funniest thing ever. But this episode just shows that they truly thrive on a tight schedule, as well as being in the same building. The pandemic special was fantastic, this one just didn't do it at all for me... the jokes were lame... I guess the "vaccine locations are like a club and old people are VIP" joke was alright for a minute but then got old... idk, wish with all the endless potential content nowadays they went a different direction. Oh well, still love the show, and I did like the Matt and Trey BASEketball cameo, and the return of Mr Hat. Hopefully we don't have to wait 5 months for another episode.

NBA 2K21 (2020 Video Game)
1/10
Without a doubt the worst game I've ever played
8 March 2021
2K should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. I missed 3 WIDE OPEN layups with the ALL TIME SPURS causing me to lose the game. I swear 2k gets worse every year, and it sucks because I'm from Portland and Dame was the cover athlete. God this game is the most frustrating thing I've ever experienced. The mechanics are so painfully bad, I'd say they do what you want them to maybe 25% of the time. They make some of the all time greats truly embarrassing to play with like Tim Duncan. Please, please boycott this pure trash. I am not giving them another dime until they fix what wasn't originally broken. It's like hey 2K21's new feature they added: the players just hand the other team the ball! I mean I can't explain how many times the opponents were nowhere near me yet they somehow manage to steal my inbound passes. This game is an absolute disgrace.

WandaVision: The Series Finale (2021)
Season 1, Episode 9
10/10
Anyone who says this is a generic Marvel ending is delusional
5 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I've read reviews saying there were "no stakes" you know, aside from Wanda having to lose her family (again). People are just butt hurt they didn't get some big cameo, that's what they think good storytelling is. Pretty scary. The action here was fantastic. I will say it was a bit predictable that Wanda would casts ruins or whatever when Agatha first told her about them, as well as when they showed just that on the "previous on" at the start of the episode. But they still executed it creatively. I thought this was one of the most creative series I've seen, and it left the door open for numerous things, one we didn't know about being, Vision is now back, real Vision, with his memories. Wanda embracing her identity as The Scarlet Witch was just a beautiful character arc for her. Perhaps she and can recreate Billy and Tommy without them being tied to the Hex. It didn't make it clear if Monica still had her powers once the hex was gone... but she's got a big Marvel future ahead of her. I still don't really get why Wanda thought Ralph Bohner was Pietro... I mean she was never under a spell, he was, and he looked nothing like Pietro... anyways, knit picks aside, a beautiful series and one of my absolute favorite installments in the MCU. It made such comic book characters feel so human. I think this was the best possible way to bring MCU to a TV format, not just because of its homages to classic TV, but as an MCU movie as well.

Literally anyone could come up with funnier content on the spot
9 July 2018
I can't belive I'm seeing reviews saying "now this is comedy". Is the world completely brain dead? "Comedy" nowadays is scary bad. I've watched several episodes waiting for the "comedy" and it's literally cringe-worthy bad, as most sitcoms are nowadays.
