Lust Stories 2 (2023)
A 9 for Konkana Only
The review is to justify the overall rating I gave.
Kudos to Konkana for the second story. If there was an option to give individual scores I would have given it a 9. Exceptionally well made in terms of making and storytelling.
I would keep R Balki and Sujoy Ghosh's films in the same bucket and give them 1 and 2 respectively. Considering the filmmakers they are this was not expected. Nothing special technically and storytelling wise. Finally Amit Sharma's story is not bad. I would rate the film around 6.
Again I just wish Konkana makes more film as a director. Whatever she has made as a director are pieces of art.
Marcel the Shell with Shoes On (2021)
Kudos
This is what moviemaking is about. I am inspired and jealous at the same time. Kudos to the makers. Great story, great cinematography and absolutely beautiful animation. Sometimes you do not need a lot to tell a great story. This is one of the best films I have seen in the recent times. This story is so simple yet so deep it is almost like a poetry. The way the dialogues are used it is just like a regular conversation and at a point I was almost thinking the whole thing is real. For me this is what movies are about that takes you to a make believe world. I can write more about this movie. Love for Marcel.
Garbage (2018)
I laugh at these negetive reviews!!!
I understand where these negative reviews are coming from. Anyway for me this is one of Q's finest works \m/
Sunflower (2021)
Unexpected
Whatever you expect is not going to happen. Sorry for the spoiler. I am not sure why this series is getting the negative reviews.
Taranath Tantrik (2019)
Great visuals. That is it.
Absolutely stunning visuals. Fantastic cinematography. But nothing else is good about the series. Actors talking with heavy accent. Really bad acting at times. Being a fan of Q, my expectations were high.
The Act of Killing (2012)
Some movies are beyond reviews and ratings
This is an experience. This is not a movie. This is where the real and then unreal become similar.
Paava Kadhaigal (2020)
The last two are gems
I would rate 9 for the last two stories and 4/5 for the first two. Hence this overall rating
The Vast of Night (2019)
You do not need big budget to make a scifi
Absolutely loved this movie. Fantastic editing, fantastic cinematography, fantastic music, fantastic acting. Sometimes there is no need to show a lot of things to express the thoughts of a story. Kudos to the director.
Lootcase (2020)
Such comedies are rare these days in Hindi Cinema
Absolutely a joyride. A fantastic comedy after a long time. The dialogues are witty, hilarious. All the actors are great, even a small 1 min role has made a mark. Great piece of work.
Fleabag (2016)
A perfect blend of two mediums - theatre and movies
This show is a acquired taste. This show puts you in a spot not only as a spectator but a part of the performance. The audience feels like a character. I loved the show and I am glad they did not drag season after season.
Ghoomketu (2020)
Loved it...ignore the overall rating
I do not know why the overall rating is so low. I loved everything about the movie. Direction, storytelling, acting, everything. The bollywood movie mafia never appreciated good movie and this is an example. This is ahead of time. I am sure it will be appreciated more in future.
Bhobishyoter Bhut (2018)
This is a bad film in all ways
This is a bad bad film. In terms of storytelling, scripting, direction etc etc. I was interested to see the movie because of all the controversies and after watching the movie I do not understand what is the point of all the controversies. It doesn't even prove the point. I have seen dramas like 'Ektu Uttor Adhunik Samajik Pala' and that was way way more direct and hard hitting. And a really good piece of art. This movie is nothing but waste of time. I am disappointed. Seems like all the controversies are made up just to get the attention. Because essentially it is a bad film and the director knows it.
Kedara (2019)
Pretentious...
This movie is an example of how a movie is made to look like it is a movie with lot of substance but in reality nothing but a pretentious work that does not leave a mark at all. Really bad script, overacting Of Rudranil, really bad acting of all the side actors. One man who tried hard is Kaushik Ganguly, but because of the bad direction he also does not stand out. Indradrep Dasgupta is a really good music director, and he should stick to that only.
Kamera o tomeru na! (2017)
A movie about a movie about a movie about a movie
My title says it all. It is a experience, a trip. This what movie making is about - to break all the rules. I am happy that something like this has been made. This kind of films inspires you. Great work.
Koroshiya 1 (2001)
Weirdly good...
This movie is bizarre in a good way. The use of camera is amazing and out of the box. I was amazed with the way whole movie was shot. Some over the top killing, but may be that is how Mike wanted this movie to be made.
Oldboy (2013)
Hollywoodization of a masterpiece
Basically what happens when you take a masterpiece and make it like another Hollywood flick. All the simplicity, nuances and emotions are missing. The original oldboy is a gem of a movie, sorry to say this isn't. But one good thing is everyone acted well.
Aamis (2019)
Great work...
A fantastic story. I can not define this film with one particular genre. I am happy that this kind of films are being made in India. Thanks to all who has contributed to this movie.
Jyeshthoputro (2019)
Some great performances
It is a good story, with some great performances. Some moments touched the heart. But I think may be I was expecting some more, which is why I thought the ending was alright for me.
Court (2014)
Spellbinding
For me it is a perfection. It terms of camera work, acting, direction. This is what masterpieces look like.
Dwitiyo Purush (2020)
Good Story...but really pretentious
A good ending. But the reason it is not a good sequel is because there is a gap in the storyline of Baishe Srabon and this movie. It felt like the director never planned for the second movie when he made the first one. The first one came organically to him and that is why it will always be one of the good Bengali movies. The second film is something that the director made may be under compulsion or may be just to make a sequel. So the sequel did not work for me. Anirban's acting is like he is acting on stage and is not natural. But rest of the actors are good.
Servant (2019)
Exceptional cinematography
One of the best series of this time. The cinematography is one of the best I have seen in any series. I will be waiting for season 2.
Bijoya (2019)
One person spoiled the game
In the midst of some great performances Abir stood out as a bad actor. His performance had the bad aftertaste throughout the movie. Everyone else (each one of them) were just perfect.
