This movie deserves your attention
2 May 2024
I'm guilty of not really taken an interest in this film when it first came to our screens. With the newest addition King of the planet of the apes coming soon I thought it best to refresh my memory.

I have to say with all the distractions around me I was not tempted when I began watching this.

Absolutely brilliant! The director knew what he wanted and everyone delivered including the amazing and flawless special effects because that's what they are, special! The detail to attention, the snow scenes, the lighting and the raw emotion of Caesar himself.

The story was brilliant and although sad for most of the movie showed light throughout.

Caesar has seen more than his fair share of human violence and distrust but still holds true to the first film. The emotion brought to screen was truly brilliant and dare I say, out did some traditional acting.

Well done to all the team who worked on this underrated film. Andy Serkis, Matt Reeves and Karin Konoval really enhanced the film.

Bon Jovi; Always
27 April 2024
40 years of pure entertainment! Yes I'm a fan, yes this is a fan review and yes I don't give a fxxx. This documentary hits home, it's interesting, it's exciting and bloody emotional!

From the roots to where the band are now, the journey has been and is still magical. Jon Bon Jovi has been hit hard with vocal problems for a few years and you can see the work he does to make sure the fans always come first and have a good time at any concert. As a collective Bon Jovi are some of the hardest working guys in the industry and stay true to the fans and do not get bogged down with negativity from media. They are a true inspiration and these boys can play and have hit legendary status.

If Jon was to hang the towel up now, so be it but we all know he still has a lot in the tank!

Good luck Bon Jovi you are the greatest.

Give up the ghost
12 April 2024
I'm not one for giving negative reviews. I know how hard all of the people work on these productions to get them on the big screen. However, this film felt like it was made for the small screen, a Prime movie at best.

The story was so drawn out and I actually felt bored and sorry for the actors. It's content we have all seen before but in a better way and more adventurous. This film felt like it was painting by numbers and even with some small glimmers of the original fun it fell short by quite a large margin.

The characters old and new had no grip to them, nothing you could bite into and grab to say I am fixed into this film and want to see the end. I nearly walked out. Maybe straight to streaming would have been better, or was it the original plan, sure felt like it....

Slow, boring.
19 November 2023
I cannot understand what is happening with the writing of these scripts of late. The material they have to refer to is good but then the story ends up a mess. Am I annoyed at the wrong people or does it get worst than this?

The story is a mess, the actors genuinely look upset to be part of the movie and for a scary movie, it ain't that scary if at all.

So much potential wasted and the animatronics would have been brilliant in a different movie. Were the writers on strike during the making of this film and the producers making it up as it went along?

Please, stop wasting peoples time with this garbage and start earning your money.

No no no
22 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I have liked the all of the Expendables movies but this "movie" should not have even been thought of. Painful from the beginning right until the end. Poor performances on all sides. Lousy cgi, terrible acting and no Stallone for most of the movie! This was a daytime movie at best. I was actually shocked how poor Megan Fox was too.

With actors like Mel Gibson showing some real grunt in the last movie to this washed up weak arse flick! I'm out! I'm sorry to say, I hate giving bad reviews and I know how hard some of these guys work on these movies but this was dreadful. Bring back Bad Boy GIbson, Arnie and Stallone! Keep it old school with real effects and less Cgi PLEASE!!!! Story was sub zero too! I would have rated it a one but gotta give the real workers some credit.

Equalised
6 September 2023
Directed and performed brilliantly. Fitting end to an awesome trilogy. The right kinda of finish we needed but, could have more to come. Will definitely watch again! Denzel Washington is an amazing actor and the supporting roles were great too. Hard hitting action with the right amount of bone breaks rightly given to all who need justice. Robert is now beginning to show his age so hopefully they will keep this to trilogy and not rinse it dry for anymore outings.

Unless John Wick wants to have ago!!!

Great movie, go watch it on the big screen and enjoy! Worth every penny!

Dakota Fanning was also great.

Black Adam (2022)

Terrible
14 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Black Adam fails on all levels. I like Dwayne Johnson, I like the DC World but movies like this make me think otherwise. No character development, no wise cracks from the Rock and a lack of a good story. Warner Brothers, please stop trying to be Marvel. Be more Richard Donner, Christopher Nolan, tell a story give the audience a reason to hate and love characters. Don't rely on effects, I felt like I was watching a really bad version of Transformers!! I didn't even watch this at the movies, because I had already heard the ending credits were better than the film and I love going to the movies. Bring us better or don't bring nothing at all.

Expectations too high
6 May 2022
Marvel started so strong for me and when I heard Sam Rami was in the mix I had high expectations. Only to be shot down to a mediocre movie Dr Strange 2.

There were hints of a good story until America came into the scene with little backstory and a whole lotta of being chased and given chase.

I prefer the "What if" series for a decent story.

Waste of talent
12 February 2022
Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg could have had a lot more fun with this movie. Taken far too seriously with (way over the top) action and cgi specials. Some fight scenes and Tom's fantastic stunt formation was the only reason I stayed in my seat.

Gore galore
23 October 2021
If you like gore you are in for a treat. This is a basic throwback from the 80's horrors. It has scare jumps and plenty of blood but lacking the story of the 2018 Halloween or any story line at all really. It continues from the 2018 sequel but doesn't capture any grace from that movie.

I enjoyed it but wouldn't see it again at the movies.

Trollers kill good films!
2 June 2019
Some movies may deserve a low score from now and then but this movie was almost killed by nasty, no good trolls who deserve nothing more than to be banned from any internet platform. Solo was a decent movie in aspects and Ron Howard and all the crew done a fantastic job! Bring on Solo 2.

Disappointing Dumbo
15 April 2019
Never have I been so bored of a Walt Disney movie. I dislike giving bad reviews but this version of a fantastic classic really deserves it in every way. This film had all the right ingredients for a brilliant movie. Tim Burton, Danny Devito, Michael Keaton and more! It lacked any classic trade of Burton and no magic from the mouse. The feeling was monotone and even the so called exciting parts were flat. Boring.....

The original and the best
24 December 2018
What a fantastic film this is! No cgi here, just a brilliant story and stunt men galore with fire and explosions at every floor. Bruce Willis at his best and the late Alan Rickman is the ultimate English baddy. And yes, this is a Christmas movie but for older generation.

Too long
23 December 2018
I really enjoyed the first Mary Poppins and thought Emily Blunt was a fantastic replacement for Julie Andrews. This new movie had all the hints of the classic without the any heart of the Disney classic. The original film was long but didn't feel that way because it kept me entertained throughout where as this film unfortunately did not. Dick Van Dyke was absolutely fantastic and I hope I can move like that if I reach his golden age. After hearing many good things about this movie I had my hopes as high as a kite only to be disappointed and distracted how long it was.

Borrrrrrrring. Rinsing viewers for money
18 November 2018
I hate giving negative reviews but this is well and truly deserved. I'll even upgraded to Imax hoping for real magic on the silver screen but was let down by a stodgy movie that only managed a 5 out of 10 because of the ending and because it ended! Please stop rinsing this wonderful franchise into the ground.

The Predator (2018)

The 11ft turkey. Shame Shane!
22 September 2018
From the trailers of this film I could sense it felt like all the other bad sequels that had come before it and I hate when I am right. Shane black has made and wrote some amazing films and that's why I thought this film would have topped them all considering the global hit of Predator '87. I don't like to knock films especially from movie makers I admire but I have to ask myself what were you thinking! The special effects were average and the CGI was awful. Some of the characters were slightly interesting but generally the film looked like it wanted to be a 12a more than a 15. The CGI blood was dismal and don't get me started on the 11ft Predator? Really? The story was cut together poorly and there was no fear or build up to the monsters on screen. The actors were almost lifeless when they saw the creatures too! The only thing I enjoyed was the original music from the First and the Best Predator. Maybe it's time to put Predator to bed or bring back John who could direct it. Shame Shane.

Missing the Wan magic
9 September 2018
It's good but could have been better. The Nun is very eerie but the jumps are very predictable and the story drags it's heels. It's almost like dream state due to the girls visions it's hard to get a smooth flow. There are lots of elements that could have worked but didn't and the story became patchy and misguided. It definitely needed a little Wan magic behind the camera. Some really good Easter eggs but fell short off the great ghost stories like The Conjuring.

More Meh than Meg

This movie as you may expect is served with a big lump of cheese. Hammy acting and almost qualifies for a TV movie. Still, spaicial effects were almost capable and there's are plenty of references to Jaws and Finding dory.

What happened??
9 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Got into this on the recommendation of a friend. Great characters and good stories. However the FBI agent (aka Captain America) Hanna really grated me because of the super hero tricks. I can see why this programme has been cancelled as the stories did become mundane and as for the last episode! Hannah Wells was not in England. That was a cheap trick and that sucked. I did enjoy the first and half of the second seasons. Brilliant to see Michael J. Fox as a guest star.

Horrendous
15 June 2018
I gave this move a 4 and not a 1 because the start had so much potential and I became very disappointed half way through when the writers must of gone on strike. Definitely not scary but more like a bad comedy. A wasted opportunity for some brilliant actors. This story could have been amazing.

Fantastic special effects
8 June 2018
This film as with all sequels will never touch the first but the story continues in an interesting and good way. More bout action and thrills this film starts slowly and develops into and dinowar. We don't see much development of the original characters but we do see new ones added with interesting twists to thicken the plot. Under 12's May find this movie a little scary as the dinosaurs take on an almost Alien position and there are a few jumps along the way. Fast paced, full of action and brilliant special effects. Looking forward to the third instalment, hopefully with Steven Spielberg at the helm.

Really enjoyed it!
6 June 2018
Ignore the box office takings and try not to listen or read any reviews until you see this movie for yourselves. I did it and I'm so glad I did. I really enjoyed this movie and will be adding it to my collection once release. It's gritty, fast paced and great chemistry between the characters. Ron Howard has done a brilliant job and so did John Powell.

Like so many movies, the best bits were in the previews. I can understand women will like this movie and it did have a few laughs but by the end I was so bored I think I may have actually fell asleep.

When is the game over?
31 March 2018
Just saw Steven Spielberg's newest movie. I can say it was very good and go see it! The nostalgia and 70's, 80's references were fantastic! I am a massive fan of Speiberg's movies and would have loved to seen more nods to them but I guess he wouldn't blow his own trumpet too much. The nods to back to the future were also wow! I went with my daughter and another friend who both loved it. This movie appeals to young and not so younger people. My only negative was the movie went on for about 30 minutes too long. On a few occasions I thought the film would end but then it carries on even further. That said, brilliant directing, music and amazing special effects. I didn't watch it in 3D but I could imagine it is very good ( if you like 3D )

Lethal Weapon (1987)

24 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Don't read this review. It's bias in every which way! Singularly my favourite film ever. Maybe the main reason for me getting to geek status with the wonderful world of movies. Shane Black (wow) Richard Donner (wow) Mel Gibson (wow)! All my Christmas's at once. Many people will disagree with me but I love it! The ultimate in buddie movies which spawned 3 more fantastic films. The original crazed Mad max becomes the even crazier Martin Riggs. Gibson portrays the agony and heartache of a cop on the edge of losing wife. His face could tell a thousand stories of his pain. Richard Donner knows that Mel Gibson has this edge and frames it perfectly. He lets the actors generate an energy and rolls with it. This is seen even more on LW2. 80's action with amazing energy that doesn't stop. Danny (Murtagh) Glover could be the voice of reason but for Riggs but realised he is too much of a lose cannon to control. Perfect cop buddie, good cop, worst cop! "I'll never be to old for this shxx!"
