Traditional Love is an Illness - Down With Love (2003)
23 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Down With Love is a 2003, rom-com, written by Eve Ahlert and Dennis Drake (both of whom are known for writing: Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003)), and directed by Peyton Reed (Reed also known for films such as; Ant-Man (2015) starring Paul Rudd and Yes-Man (2008) starring Jim Carrey). The film also features renowned actors and actresses; Renée Zellweger as the renowned feminist author, Barbra Novak, Ewan McGregor as the playboy journalist, Catcher Block, Sarah Paulson as Novak's publisher, Vikki Hiller and David Hyde Pierce as Catcher's Editor, Peter MacMannus.

The film is set in New York in the year 1962, a time at when women were struggling to find their voice within the work place. Completely undermined by men who believed women are only seen as sex objects.

We follow the story of Barbra Novak, our protagonist, and author of the book Down with Love. We see her at the beginning of the movie meeting with her publisher Vikki Hiller, as they are on their way to pitch her book to the publishers. They sell the book as follows; that it's a step by step guide to help women liberate them from the hold men have on them. It paints love as an illness that can be cured, and that women need to make it their mission to be independent. And that they too can enjoy sex without needing to form bonds with the person they are engaging with. The book is a hit and it goes viral. Women start withholding sex from men whenever they want to have sex, and women take on the gender role of the man to show that she too can be in charge. This doesn't sit well with Catcher Block. Who, like his name suggests, is made out to be the catch that every woman wants. And now suddenly because of this Pink Book, book he no longer gets what he wants. Women start using him whenever they feel like it. Catcher then goes to his editor Peter McMannus, and tells him that he'll prove that Novak is like all other women, and that they all long for the same thing, to be married with children, the typical American Dream wife. He takes on a new persona and deceives Novak into falling in love with him. All the while Peter and Vikki start a heated affair. It's a rat race against love and in the end a twist occurs that will leave you stunned, showing that it was Catcher that was the one being deceived the whole time, and that in the end women hold the power. The film concludes when it shows that the man must sometimes also swallow his pride and realize the woman isn't always going to come running his way. But that they actually have to meet each other in the middle, and that you need to take a chance on love and be willing to take risks. And that even the most infamous playboy can find his lid.

We see a New York being sold as the perfect place to be, bright colours, women in skirts men in suits, show the ideal world. Everyone has money in this film, we see this with the spacious town houses that Catcher and Barbra live in. It looks like it comes out of a 1960's lifestyle magazine. She is also shown living in her ivory tower looking down on the male world she has conquered. This grand scale of spaces the characters inhabit is in direct correlation with the characters who are all larger than life, very theatrical and with stylized acting styles, the characters are shown as being very superficial and shallow. We also see Novak moving like a Barbie doll.

The score of the music also makes you feel like this should be set as a musical. The music is definitely one of the driving forces of this film, as it feels like a ball that has been set rolling and the character's heartbeats are matched to the beat. You just want them to break out into song.

We see Barbra's character and almost every female character wear the colour pink or other feminine colours. Opposed to Catcher who we see in blue as well as all the women he has slept with also wearing blue, almost suggesting that he owns them. Women are seen as secretaries and housewives, we also see a scene where a woman starts reading Novak's book and suddenly her husband has to take care of the kids and the household, while she sits in front of the TV and reads The Pink Book. The pink book draws correlation to a sort of guiding system, a book that has only been written for women and not for men.

Every shot has been carefully crafted to fit in with the flow and rhythm of the whole film. As well as keeping with a linear, cause-and-effect narrative. Then we get to the lovely suggested phone-sex scene between Barbra and Novak, very reminiscent of similar scenes in Michael Gordon's 1959's Oscar winning film Pillow Talk, starring Rock Hudson and Doris Day, where the characters of Brad Allen (Hudson), and Jan Morrow (Day) talk to each other over the phone as the screen is split into two spaces to make it look like Brad is lying next to Jan in bed, later it is also used to make it look like Jan and Brad are sitting next to each other, talking over the phone, there is also the case of Brad deceiving Jan into thinking that he's someone he's not. Sound familiar?

Such is the case with this scene in Down With Love, where we see Reed playing around with this form of storytelling, and actually taking it a step further to make it seem like they are having sex, it's comical, fun and very clever, it also adds to the tease value of the whole film.

Shapes are seen in the mid- and background, circular cushions, big and impressive square buildings, and triangular roofs. Maybe hinting at the class systems and the way that things are seemingly well organized and categorized according to an unspoken yet widely accepted status quo.

As we delve deeper into the film and you start to wish that Catcher will stop with his nonsense, questions are being raised, questions like, is love just a distraction? Who is the real seducer? Is there more to love than just physical attraction and sex? When is it okay to have sex? What do women really want? Can a man/woman be in a monogamous relationship and be happy? What is the ethics of equality? So many important and unanswered questions people don't actually talk about.

We perceive women through the male perspective of society. They are seen as only wanting a man to settle down with, marry and have kids with. Men are seen as only wanting one thing, and that is a woman to use as a sex object, and that if you keep sex from them they will do anything you want.

We see such a colourful world, by means of costume, lighting, mesa-scène etc. It makes us think back to old-school Hollywood romantic comedies, especially that of Rock Hudson and Doris Day. But when you start to look at the way that it's presented to the viewer you start to think that the writers and the director is trying to say something. They're trying to say that the way that romantic comedies presented love and falling in love before this film, was at fault. The ones before this one is being accused of romanticizing love to the extent of idealizing love. And that's what's happening in this film.

Novak's movements like a Barbie doll, made me think about, this movie has a feel to it, like it's being played out by a five year old girl, with a Barbie doll in one hand and a Ken doll in the other, but at the end of the film, that girl has grown up and she's way more opinionated about what she wants in her perfect man.

Women are shown as wearing dresses and feminine coloured attires, it address directly the issue of, why should women look so feminine all the time, can't they just for once look normal, especially in a film which has the core function of being a incarceration of a small fraction of life. The Pink Book, becomes almost a Biblical metaphor in the film. As it is known the Bible has been written by men for men, women don't really feature too strongly in the Bible. It almost asks the question, then were are the women's guidelines to life, were is her Bible? The Pink Book represents this Bible for them, that if they follow this steps in the book, they'll make a success out of their lives, and they do. They become independent and they start to be a real woman.

When we get to the "sex scene" between Catcher and Barbra, the director proves yet another point. That you can tell a love story to much smarter by not even having them say a word, the frame of each shot tells you something, this shouldn't be used as a gimmick, but rather as a smart way to show that this isn't just your average rom-com, it's more than that, it's not only saying something about the way love has been portrayed in every Hollywood film before this one, but also that love and interactions with characters can be shown on many different ways in film. We need to even in the cliché genre of the rom-com be aware that we are dealing with an art form and that we need to express that form in more ways than the conventional.

Shapes are used to symbolize the way that society categorizes life into its many organized and precise facets and own little boxes. But why do they need to be so well organized, why do we need to be so adamant on gender roles, why can't we blatantly talk about something such as sex, when people so easily destroy their lives chasing it so eagerly? For you the answer may be simple and straight-forward, and it might be a stupid question to ask, but we don't ask these questions enough, we are too afraid to offend someone, or to look stupid, that we go through life ignorant or like characters in a rom-com.

The film is set in 1962. Which isn't so for no reason. The 60's were a turning point in the feminist movement of the USA. In the 1960's we saw women fighting for equality, we saw women wanting to be educated, taken seriously in the workplace and they even petitioned the right to abort a pregnancy at will. Women started to fight back against the American Dream that said the only way a women will ever be happy is if she is submissive to her husband. And here we see in this film a female character that stand just for this. She initiates a m

Who Knew 1940 Was Such Fun!
23 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The Curse of the Jade Scorpion is a 2001, comedy crime film, written, directed and starring Woody Allen. The film also features renowned actors; Helen Hunt as Miss Fitzgerald, Dan Aykroyd as Mr. Magruder as well as a very young Charlize Theron.

The film is set in New York in the year 1940, gambling, larceny, addiction and infidelity is at the core of these characters and the film. We follow the story of CW Briggs who is an insurance investigator at North Coast Insurance. Later on Briggs and a group of people as well as his possible love interest Miss Fitzgerald go to see a hypnotist where they get programmed to react a certain way when a certain word is used. They are not aware of the fact that the hypnotist wants to use this control to his advantage. They suddenly become puppets in his master puppeteer's plan. The film seems to look like an old black-and-white Noir film, just in colour this time, and the witty banter and comments exchanged between characters, especially that of Briggs and Fitzgerald, makes them more lovable towards the audience.

In the foreground we see characters living in the mid-ground of apartment buildings and the insurance company. They join the background when we see Briggs going out to do as the Hypnotist said. Allen stays to the traditional linear storyline, following only one story line (which is that of Briggs) clearly staying to the recipe of cause-and-effect, logic and rational.

Allen cleverly uses contrast in the execution of the characters. Briggs is seen as a more hyper character saying what's on his mind in the most creative ways, as well as covering his own behind in the most clever of ways. The other characters being more calm and collected in their lines and execution of their character. It is also definitely seen in the difference in behaviour between when Fitzgerald and Briggs jump from being themselves to being controlled by the hypnotist.

We also see the actors and actresses giving not only giving great work, but also giving such theatrical performances that at some stage it felt like I was watching a theatre piece and not a film. By keeping the look of the film warm and almost retro, the director succeeds in creating a film that is visually as enjoyable as the story itself.

The film is also presented as a satirical Noir film. The use of warm colour and mundane shapes make this film easy to watch, and almost sooths you as you go along for the ride. There are crimes being committed, investigations being held, our protagonist confronted with beautiful women and his own hormones, just in this case our hero is not your normal Noir hero, he's the underdog, the loser. They guy who has wanted attention his whole life.

Like in most of Allen's films, such as 1977's Annie Hall, 2013's Blue Jasmine and 2014's Magic in the Moonlight, we are clearly aware of the space in which the story takes place, as well as which perspective from where the story is told from, in this case the character of Briggs.

The title of the film and the content of the film go hand in hand. Fitzgerald and Briggs are under the control of the Jade Scorpion. Doing as the hypnotist wishes and not asking anything. It makes you think that maybe we are all just puppets in the hands of a great or evil puppeteer. Aren't we all just instruments? Then there's the recurring carnival music that plays when Briggs or Fitzgerald goes into their larcenist hypnosis. This makes me feel like he's putting the people on display, saying humans are made to be viewed and made to be manipulated, because in the end their minds are stronger than their bodies, but it is so easy to hack those minds, thus so easy to control those bodies.

The characters in this film are also a lot older than me at this stage and they all have been married at some stage, but none of it turned out the way they wanted it to be. People cheat on each other and even when they judge the act of infidelity we have two characters, Fitzgerald and Magruder engaging in a heated affair. This comments strongly on the legitimacy of marriages, what do they really mean, when people are so eager to break them.

We see people who are filled with addiction, Briggs with his gambling with the horses, Fitzgerald who has tequila at 10 in the morning, downing a bottle in a matter of seconds, as well as a bullpen filled with drifting smoke from the smoking staff.

We are also faced with the idea of mental illness, what is reality, if we are all just puppets in the hands of a master pupeteer... We see Fitzgerald wanting to jump out of the window just when Magruder, (who has a wife) tells her he can't be with her. The film also highlights the power of the human mind and the senses of the human as strong and durable. Because there was nothing Briggs could do on his own about the hypnotist and his assistant, because he didn't know what was going on and it was his mind that made him do what he was doing.

We also see a slow and steady love story that makes us realize that maybe the one you were meant to be with was right under your nose, because even when their feelings for each other don't come out until the end, Briggs and Fitzgerald behave as if they are an old married couple. In the end we see them together, but only after Fitzgerald's secret word is said. I then started to ask myself, what is love, is it just an infatuation that can't last, or are we so hypnotized by the idea of love or a strange love story that we are willing to settle, like most of the characters in this film? How intoxicating or toxic is love actually? Because in the end all the characters are playing games with each other, this is shown much more clearly with the sly way the hypnotist uses hypnosis to force people to do what he wants, Magruder holding Fitzgerald on a line, postponing to talk to his wife, but rather keeping Fitzgerald under wraps and not letting anyone know what's really going on.

We also see a film about men being attracted to strong women, men like Briggs, and women seeking independence and adventure as with the characters of Fitzgerald and the erotic supreme queen, Laura Kensington.

On an imitational level the film succeeds to create a story that doesn't only feel plausible, but it creates a world that was so long ago, but it feels so real and tangible right now.

On a formalist level, we don't see Allen really playing around with symbolic composition, the film's composition is as real as possible. He intuitively uses the elements of a realistic, yet theatrical, film.

And then on an emotional level we see the film excelling in making us feel sympathetic towards the characters, in the way the music flows from one scene to the next. The way Allen and Hunt so carefully and steadily create their chemistry on stage, as well as the believability of the whole situation, even though he threw in something as strange and odd as hypnosis.

In the end I found myself really enjoying this film. It's not one of my favourite films, but it's definitely not one of my least favourite.

You start to wonder if Allen is really playing a character, or if he's just being himself and living out his own life frame for frame. In the end it made me feel hopeful about life and love, saying that you have to take chances on yourself and other people, and that sometimes just the right word can change your whole life.

Orphan Black (2013–2017)

Mezmerizing
6 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Orphan Black....I had the privilege of not watching the first three seasons while they were running. So I could watch 30 Episodes back to back and get caught up in this whole new world. It started slow, but once it caught fire, it was like an inferno! Everything about this show is awesome, the futurism, the ideas, and of course, the characters. The Leda Clones; Sarah, Cosima, Allison, Helena (she's awesome!), Mrs. S, Cal, Kira, Felix! Donnie, Paul, even the defected Castor Clones. Everyone!

Tatiana is a force of nature, nine characters! And every season it just confirms that she's like none other, sometimes playing three clones in one scene. Can't understand why she didn't get that Golden Globe...

I can't wait for season 4...so many cliffhangers!! Every episode leaves you guessing, and it just gets weirder and weirder, sicker and sicker.

But in the end it has some underlining themes that don't come out unless you want to see them. And that the whole concept about family, and that blood stays blood, even if you don't necessarily like that blood. But family, is family, and you can't tell family to leave.

You'll be captivated by this show, it'll haunt you and stay with you. You will find yourself weeping for the demise some characters face, and others fall to, but in the end it's about family and being there for your Seestras and brothers, (even if they want to kill you at first).

The 100 (2014–2020)

The CW strikes again!
11 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Well, well what do we have here...I would say absolute genius. I can see it now, war, love, betrayal and hope. That is what's in store for us in this, not always well executed, but extremely addictive and well acted series.

It's been a long time since I've been this hooked on a series, not since the Vampire Diaries, and I am over that. The 100 is a breath of fresh air in my horizon and my Wednesdays.

It's the story of 100 juveniles being sent to earth to see if it's inhabitable after almost a 100 years of being labeled as radioactive. What the 100 find on earth is way more than they bargained for, and they get tested in each episode.

The chemistry on the show is amazing, especially between Bellamy (Bob Morley) and Clarke (Eliza Taylor). Me and a bunch of other people are just waiting for that tension to snap. It will be a glorious episode.

The CW is know for making top-notch entertainment and they work with what they have and their doing a damn good job of it.

I am so excited to see what the writers have in store for us, because they keep you guessing, your favorite character is never safe and that keeps us watching.

We're 8 episodes in the first season and I am anxiously counting down the days to the next episode!

The Beauty of Life Captured in a Beautiful Movie!!!
11 May 2014
This is one movie that, it doesn't matter how many times I watch it I can't stop loving it more. The casting was spot on, Keri Russell, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Robin Williams...enough said. And this is one of Freddie Highmore's earlier movies, but one that he'll be remembered for, for the rest of his life.

What director Kristen Sheridan and Writers Nick Castle and James V. Hart did was incredible, they didn't only tell a beautiful story, but they gave meaning to music, they made us realize that there are forces that bind families, and that it doesn't matter where you as a child is, your mother and father are always thinking of you.

And the way they made everything work out in the end made it even more heart-warming.

The emotion and passion that flares this film is what makes it such a damn good movie. It is driven by love, love for each other, love for music and the love between a mother and her son.

Do yourself a favor: if you want to watch a beautiful movie, that has good acting, that doesn't require concentration, and that can make you feel good this is the one.

August Rush...I am in AWE!

Gladiator (2000)

Legendary Doesn't Even Describe This Movie! I am entertained!
11 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Rome, Gladiators, War and the battle of a warrior longing for freedom to one day return to his wife and son.

This is probably by far my favorite Russell Crowe movie, and has one of the greatest liners ever "are you not entertained!" What we have here is an instant classic. One I'll be showing my kids one day. They will know the story of Maximus. His struggle, and later, his victory.

Not only is it wonderfully acted, but it is so engrossing that you don't even realize that two hours of you life just went out the door. I say two and a half hours well spent.

I have to applaud Ridley Scott on this one. You made a good one, keep it up. Because there aren't other movies out there like Gladiator. It's one of a kind!

Moving, tragic, and over all one hell of a show!!!

A Beautiful Story...
29 December 2013
Firstly let me say no other movie about a natural disaster unsettled me as much as this one. It fully captured the effect and the aftermath of this terrible event.

I really found no problem with this movie. I had to wipe my eyes from time to time, thanks to the raw and passionate performances the actors gave.

It is the story about a family torn apart by a tsunami that hit the eats coast of Asia in the year 2004 and how they desperately try to get back together again. With overwhelming odds and obstacles we can only imagine they find there way back to each other.

In the end we can learn many things from this experience, but one stands out the most. That we should treasure each other whenever we can and we should never allow anything to get in the way of that. Be thankful for the people in your life because they can be taken away at any moment. If you have someone or something to live for you need to know that that something is worth fighting for.

A beautiful story that had me captivated from beginning to the end. I couldn't take my eyes off the damn thing!

Veronica Mars (2004–2019)

I am a pure-blooded Marshmallow! Veronica Mars rules my life at this moment...
15 December 2013
Why oh why did it have to end?

This show changed my life. Kristen Bell and Jason Dohring...you guys are amazing and no actors out there have better on-screen chemistry than these two (sorry Damon and Elena).Their characters literally spell out LoVe...

All the characters in this show are so lovable and unforgettable. From Wallace, to Mac. From Dick to Logan and then there's the iconic character that is... Veronica Mars.

It's so addictive and probably one of the best written series to date with a solid story line that they abide by. Not like other shows that lose there way halfway through its show time.

Why it had to end, I keep asking because Veronica Mars's time will never be over. Here I am a sixteen year old in 2013 and even now I am hooked. This show is incredible.

I cannot wait for the movie that's coming out next year (2014)...Here's hoping for the best!!!

Consider my mind...not blown...Demolished...
21 November 2013
The entire year I've been waiting for this moment when The Hunger Games: Catching Fire would come out and I would go and see it. I had so many expectations going into the theater; was it going to be better than the first? Did they put everything that was in the book in the movie? Is it going to be worth it? Well I am pleased to say that the answer to all these questions are yes. This movie is by far one of the best franchise movies to date...Go suck it Twilight. Hunger Games Rule!! The acting was amazing, Jennifer Lawrence...I am in love, I don't know where she came from but she's from out of this world. They could not have casted a better Katniss, this girl it on fire! Josh Hutcherson might have grown up a bit and his portrayal of Peeta Mellark was outstanding. The rest was awesome, the victory tour, the parties, the tributes parade, the tributes, the arena, the obstacles in the arena, the CGI was memorable, and the emotion that these actors brought to the set was unforgettable.

It's way better than the first one. And I'm so glad they did this one justice. I wish I could give this movie a fifteen out of ten, because it's just fantastic.

If the second one was this good...then I cannot wait for Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2. It's gonna be epic...

Glee (2009–2015)

I am a total Gleek
10 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Glee is a show I will one day be telling my children and grandchildren about. This show has it all; romance, comedy, drama, tears, joy, kick-ass music, kick-ass dancing and amazing characters that grow on you like moss would on tree bark.

Next to Supernatural and The Tomorrow People, Glee is one of my favorite obsessions. The drama is nerve-wrecking and I find myself taking deep breaths when another development comes along. This show has so much character development going on from Kurt who was the closeted, angry gay dude who becomes a NYDA student, to one of the most annoying characters ever (Miss Rachel Berry) who becomes one of the coolest people I've ever had the chance to witness.

And the voices are incredible. There is not one person in this show who cannot sing, they are all a bunch of talented people who are making history one episode at a time.

So if your feeling down and you want to laugh, or if you want to cry a bit or sing and dance along to every hit-song ever made...then Glee is the way to go.

I really hope this show keeps going on, it's an instant cult classic.

Chronicle (2012)

An awesome take on new-age superheroes!
20 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not actually a big fan of movies done by cam. Usually they take it to far or sometimes it's so blurry or so shaky you can't get the right feel for the movie. Like V/H/S(totally frustrated me).

That being said Chronicle is nothing like any cam movie out there. They actually use a camera that has some quality and it's not shaky at all. I loved the plot and the mundane-ness of it all. I mean when I get superpowers saving the world would defiantly be the last thing on my list of "Things To Do".

They do what normal teens would do if they get telekinesis: pick on people in Wal-Mart, scare little children, move cars so old ladies freak out when they find their cars are not where they parked them. And a little bit of revenge now and then.

"But with great power comes great responsibility", and we learn that in the end when our "Nerd" freaks out and almost destroys half of Seattle in his "nobody ever cared" episode and then his best friend (his cousin I think) has to put an end to him.

It would be awesome if they made a sequel to this movie. The ending defiantly gave way for a sequel.

So yeah I gave it a ten out of ten, because it's really a pretty amazing movie that I would defiantly recommend to every person who was a fan of Cloverfield and such.

One of my favorite movies of 2012 by far....

Satisfied...But JACE!!!!!
25 September 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Okay so I read all five of the books in a week...it is one of the best series out there. I think that Cassandra Clare is defiantly the best author out there today.

When I found out they were making it into a movie the first question I asked who are they going to get to play Jace? Lilly Collins was perfect, her voice fit Clary, her acting, her walking everything was Clary. Magnus was awesome as always...Alec was awesome and Isabelle was amazing. And Simon was just as good.

Jaime Campbell Bower did not lack anything in the acting department. It was only the scenes were he really had to give it that he couldn't bring it. Jace is supposed to be a younger Chris Hemsworth...Jace Herondale is out of all the fictional characters I have experienced the one I as a guy look up to the most. I just wished they would've looked a little longer. He really wasn't the right one. Sorry for those who think different.

But over all everything was true to the book with a few more twists, like the part where they hang Simon form those cables was freaking intense. But the rest was right, Magnus's charm, Isabelle's attitude and Luke's protectiveness.

Those who have not yet read the book will find this amazing, but those who have I think will find it satisfying, but not amazing and as awesome as the books...

But way better than Twilight (okay anything is better than Twilight) and a franchise I'm really excited about. Can't wait for the rest just hope Jamie hits the gym and buff up to get to the standards he didn't meet as much as he should've...

Very Satisfying...
25 September 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This is probably the best episode in the history of Glee so far...

I couldn't help Time Warping at the end and singing "Sweet Transvestite" together with Mercedes.

When Finn sang "Damn It, Janet" I was one my feet dancing along with it trying to stay with it, Damn it..

What a great contribution to one of the best musicals ever made.

I replayed and replayed all the scenes from this episode and the one with Emma and Will was almost better than the original scene form the original movie.

Long Live The Rocky Horror Picture Show!!!!!

Let's Do The Time Warp Again!!!!!!!!!!! With a Little bit of Antici............pation!!!!!
25 September 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Okay I have watched this movie 38 years after it was made and even now in this modern age it is definitely not like any other musical out there.

I can understand why they call it a cult-classic, after I watched the Show I couldn't stop Tim Warping in my room...it was amazing.

I love that they don't try to hide anything, they give you "More, more, more" and it's so satisfying I had a smile on my face the whole time. The music is timeless and I think even my children will one day still hear the music of Rocky Horror Picture Show...

Susan Sarandon is amazing in her portrayal...she brings the innocent factor, but then with "Touch-a-Touch Me" I was like "Go Susan..."

And then there is Tim Curry...There will never be a better Frank...he was amazing. His voice probably the best of them all.

May The Rocky Horror Picture Show live forever....

Okay so supernatural has been going on for like almost eight...nine years and when the first season started I was eight. So now I've got so much catching up to do. Only now do I understand the hype... This show is awesome, funny, dark, scary and brilliant.

Sam and Dean are two of the most amazing characters to date in any series....you'll like them instantly and quickly they'll get under your skin and you won't want to let them go.

The whole concept is mind-boggling. I love the whole angels and demons aspect too, gives a heavier, darker and more serious atmosphere, but hey then Dean's there to make it as funny as hell.

This show has completely taken me over...my new addiction.... SUPERNATURAL RULES!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing like it!!!!

Not your typical cliché...Much more to it...
3 August 2013
It started out as a normal, no-one-notices-me-teen-movie. But as it went on I was surprised to find that it wasn't anything like that. There's so much more to it, and after I watched the movie I immediately went and read the book. The movie was according to me way better. And usually any adaption lacks a lot of things. Perks, has no lacking whatsoever.

Logan Lerman, Ezra Miller and Emma Watson, is definitely a trio to be reckoned with and showed no flaw in any of their performances they portray the typical teenager, perfectly. Each character has something to them, each their own baggage that they struggle to cope with and that was another reason why I loved this movie, the complexity was great.

There's a saying that goes, "the plot thickens," after you've watched this movie, you'll see. That those words are a definite understatement.

An instant OBSESSION...Unforgettable!!!!!!!!!!!
3 August 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Never in my life have I ever experienced anything like Dead Poet's Society.

This is a fine example how movies should be. It should be touching, it should be funny, it should be something an outsider can be proud of. And I was...I was proud of what they accomplished, that almost decades later it can still be seen as a drama worth beating (and none has beaten it so far).

The story is about a group of boys who restart an old Poets club, that was once run by their English teacher, mister John Keating. During the course of the film we are introduced to Keating's majorly uplifting influence in the lives of the boys as he urges them on to follow their dreams and to, seize the day. CARPE DIEM!!! This movie had me hooked from beginning to end. I didn't want it to end. When it was finished I let out a breath of relief as I realized I was not actually part of the fun. But it pulled me in and forced me to feel what the boys were feeling.

The acting was phenomenal. The story is timeless and the lessons learned from it, I will always treasure.

"Oh captain, my captain. I tip my hat to you sir. WELL DONE."

Battleship (2012)
10/10
Loads of fun!!!
3 August 2013
I don't know why the bad reviews, this movie was awesome. The setting was perfect, the actors were great and the plot was spot-on. Don't go and watch this movie if your expecting a thing like Star Trek. This is much more easy to follow and to enjoy.

I saw now fault in any of the scenes and to me it was just a fun movie to watch, it has no reason too call for you to focus, so if you want to relax, the Battleship is the way too go.

Everything was great, the aliens, the action, the music, and the actors. Rihanna was surprisingly good, and the rest of the cast was a power-house!!

BATTLESHIP ROCKS!!!!!!

The Fall (I) (2006)
10/10
The perfect EPIC! bedtime story...but it's so much more...WOW!!!!
12 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The Fall...Basically about a stuntman who injures himself and a little girl how becomes involved in his life, both of them with some heavy personal baggage. He starts to tell her an amazing adventure with five lovable heroes.

I have to so while I watched The Fall I was chained to my seat just to find out what will happen next in Roy's story. I even cried when Alexandria told him to "let him live." But afterward I was a bit confused but a few hours later it started to make sense to me.

Alexandria, lost her dad, but she doesn't quite know what happened, and Roy, a suicidal stuntman, who uses her to get Morphine so he can kill himself because he feels there's nothing left for him. In the end she opens his eyes and forces him to accept that he has to live, that she needs him to live. And in a way she faces the fact that she misses her father and she can't stand to loose Roy to. And it's about letting your imagination go, to let it run free, to forget about any pains and just realize that the answer to all that pain lies in the most unexpected places.

At some stages you can't quite make out what Alexandria says, but it's really easy to follow, and her acting gives a certain innocent feel to The Fall. But it's anything but innocent. It's a grown-up fantasy with beautiful and unexpected twist and turns to leave you guessing what will happen next. This movie is as original as can get.

Not only is it a deep and moving film, but it looks magnificent, it feels like your part of the adventure, and just like Alexandria you want Roy never to stop.

You might not get it when the end-credits come up, but you'll definitely want to try and make sense of it and when you've done that you'll feel completely blown away....

Man of Steel (2013)

Consider my Mind Blown
11 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Zack Snyder is a revelation, not only did he make a movie that's beautiful to look at, but he gave a fresh look at the legendary hero he know and love. THAT IS SUPERMAN!

I am a huge Amy Adams fan and anything Zack Snyder is always amazing. This is definitely the best Superman movie to date, one that I think will go down as a classic.

We are introduced to Clark Kent when he leaves Krypton as a baby and where he grows up in Smallville and all the situations he was in, where he saved numerous lives. In the end he has to save earth from a evil that has come to destroy it, to create a new Krypton.

The acting from Henry Cavill gave me chills, and I am so glad they've gotten Superman a new suit! I was so blown away after I watched this movie, that I had to calm myself down afterward. That's just it, this movie is so engaging and so in a way "real" that you can't help but be sucked in. The special effects are breath taking and the acting is spot-on!

Do yourself a favor and go watch this film. Don't try and make sense of it cause then you'll miss the whole point behind this beautiful movie. If you don't like it then I personally think there's something wrong with you. There's something for everyone.

I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moulin Rouge! (2001)
10/10
Spectacularly-passionate
7 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Phenomenal doesn't even come close to describing Baz Luhrmann's masterpiece. If you haven't yet watched Moulin Rouge! I want to ask you one question, "What's Wrong with you?" It's a story about a love like none other, about two people that fall in love no matter the consequences. I loved Nicole Kidman as Satine, her voice gave me goose bumps. Ewan McGregor really surprised me. I never knew he could sing, and he was really good. All that I didn't like was the end, it was so tragic...I loved every minute of the Moulin Rouge! not once was I bored or even asleep. If you want to watch a movie that basically just about love and the power of love, this is a must see. Then I know you'll love it.

Chris Colfer is just brilliant.
7 July 2013
Struck by Lightning hit me hard, it touched me, made me laugh and left me relieved when it was finished. I have to say it was actually Rebel Wilson that made me want to watch this movie. She's as always hilarious no matter what she does. Chris Colfer is definitely one of the best young actors in Hollywood today and i think that the idea he had with Struck By Lightning came through in the end. Its about not standing back and not to let others push you around. To do everything you can to ensure your future (it is after all survival of the fittest). You won't be wasting your time...if you're into teen movies this is a must see. If they keep making movies like this I think there'll be a bright future ahead.

Not bad, But I liked the books more...
6 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Hunger Games...Well, I was glad that I read the books before I watched the movie, but the movie didn't disappoint me. I was actually amazed at how true they stayed to the book. Jennifer Lawrence, is as always amazing, in her portrayal of Katniss Everdeen and I found Josh Hutcherson pretty good as Peeta Mellark. It just felt like some one told them, "you've got two hours to give as much info as as possible." I think that they also could've made it a little more violent (cause the book certainly is). But it's really not that bad,for some one who read the book it'll be easier to follow the story ass some one who doesn't have a clue what it's about.

If Only (2004)
10/10
I cried and cried...Absolutely Beautiful...
6 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
WOW!! Now here's the romance of the decade. It begins quite stupid at first and when I saw Jennifer Love Hewitt I thought maybe to give it a pass. Boy was I wrong!! Heart-warming doesn't even come close to describing "If Only". It's a story about love in it's purest form. About realizing that any moment some one you care for can be taken away and you have the be certain you did everything to make your life meaningful with that some one. Jennifer was actually good for a change and when she sang at the end of the movie she just added to the passion that drives the story. If you're looking for a movie that will make you smile, make you think, make you cry and leave you touched...If Only is the way to go...
