The Walking Dead: Mercy (2017)
A hopeful start
I don't actually think it was 10/10 worthy, but I'm trying to even out all of the 1's people are giving it. In my opinion this episode was a solid 8/10. It was a really good kick off to the season! I don't think it was as good of a kick off as season 5's or season 7's, but I do think it was a better episode than most episodes that were in season 7 itself. I enjoyed all of the call backs to the old episodes from season 1 and season 2 as well as the first big assault on the Saviors. It definitely sets things up to be very kinetic and exciting. The dialogue wasn't the best and there wasn't very much emotion, but I'm definitely excited to see where they go with this.
Godzilla (2014)
Very Solid Godzilla Movie
I appreciated this movie greatly mostly for the fact that it follows more along the lines of the 1954 classic. It's a much darker Godzilla story then what has been shown in the previous 1960-1990's Godzilla movies. I will agree that Godzilla was shown for not much time and they definitely should have found a way for him to come in earlier. There were also a few scenes that didn't happen that definitely should have happened. I think we all know what scenes they are *cough cough* airport *cough*. There were some things I was disappointed in, but it did so much right for Godzilla. Every bit of Godzilla you see in this movie is the real Godzilla. He is back and ready as ever to kick monster ass. He is NOTHING like 1998's travesty of a monster. The MUTO's were also very well designed and interesting monsters. The fight scenes are excellent and well choreographed. Overall I thought it was a great Godzilla movie with a lot of homage to the original 1954 Gojira. It was also a great way to set up the monster universe. I'm very excited for the upcoming movies and really hope that they don't pull a lot of these mistakes a second time. It works effectively this time, but a second movie like this would kill it.
The Walking Dead: The First Day of the Rest of Your Life (2017)
Shines above the rest of the season
This episode was finally the moment we've all been waiting for. Season 7 has been (in my opinion) the worst season so far. I loved the show for so long and then at season 6 I felt it was slowing down, but some of the episodes in this season were downright disgraceful. They were boring and uninteresting and didn't get you any further in the story. This was a huge disappointment because the season started so strong with that first episode! That first episode was my personal favorite of the entire show! It was captivating, it was scary, you felt the danger and you felt the fear, and the sadness, and all of the emotions. It was incredible. This episode, for me, was the perfect ending for a season that started so strongly as this one did. It was awesome, we got emotion, we got tension, we got epic moments and a moment that made me want to jump up and scream I was so excited. Negan started out in the season as being the most unpredictable character that had ever existed in the show. As the season went on the writing lost that touch and so did Negan. Though he was unpredictable once again in the mid-season finale he lost it again soon after. This finale had me already tense and I know a lot of people saw it coming (I guess I'm just stupid for not seeing it) but when the trash people turned on Rick that actually shocked me quite a bit and put me in a vulnerable position like the show used to do earlier on in it's prior seasons. From this point on I was scared and thought anything can happen to anyone. Then Sasha took the pill and came out of the box as a zombie and I was officially sold on the episode already. The action started and it was an excellent start. After this Negan managed to get a hold of both Rick and Carl. Alexandria was losing big time. Just as Negan is about to crush Carl's skull in Shiva jumps out and starts killing people and the Kingdom comes marching in followed by the Hilltop. This was the height of the episode. The odds were now in Alexandria's favor and they were kicking some serious ass from this point on. This was a full on battle. An actual, full on battle. The episode ended strongly with a strong speech from Maggie that almost felt as though it could've been the series finale. All in all I loved this episode and it's up there with No Way Out, The Day Will Come When You Won't Be, Too Far Gone, and the other great episodes. This was worth the wait in my opinion and I highly look forward to season 8!
The Last Scene (2010)
Amazing short, one of the best on you-tube.
An amazing short for Olan Rogers. This is one of my favorites, and I've been watching it since it was still kind of new. I loved all of the characters and the whole comic book plot theme.
When I first watched this in some time probably around mid-2011 I showed EVERYONE that I could, all of my friends and half of my family and they too loved it and became huge fans of Olan Rogers. I thought that this was as good as Youtube got and in my personal opinion it was.
I'm still watching the whole four part series of mini series and am very excited for Pop Rocket's last three episodes and all of The New Scene.
If you have not watched this short yet you should, it is groundbreaking and definitely deserves nothing less than at least 8 stars.
