The Hitch Hiker (2004)
As one who's seen the magic
I really enjoyed the overall creativity of this short animation. It's quite a visual spectacle of what one's imagination could create while listening to this story. The visual language of this short as well as the art direction is somewhat of an industry first. First time I've seen an animation strive to be lit like a Noir film. Check out what Mind City Productions is trying to pioneer! Not many people are aware that Orson Welles was a master voice artist as well as a forerunner in shaping today's cinema. "The Hitch Hicker" showcases this Orwellian talent and provides a few twists and turns of it's own that the watcher is not expecting. Camera angles are quite superb. The realism is there as well and very well may give you the chill in your spine you are looking for. The blend of the two pieces is very inspired and it carries through to the end of the short. Defnintely something that will keep your attention long after it's over.
