This is very boring..
24 December 2017
Who in the heck is giving this show 9 and 10 star ratings? I laughed through the first 15 minutes of Episode One, got a few chuckles after that, then it became quickly mundane.

I honestly coudn't make it through Episode 2. Well, contrived humor is just not my jam. Do I have to keep talking to make it to the limit? LOL!

I happen to aspire to be a very succinct person in my communication.

I am a huge fan

Wow. I had forgotten most of the story lines from Seasons 1 and Seasons 2. It's been 2 years.

I just jumped right into Season 3.

It was mesmerizing to me. The disjointed story lines as well as the crazy mixed up back and forth between realities fascinated me.

The use of Australia as a backdrop was phenomenal. And since I have watched much Aussie TV, the fact that real Aussie actors that I recognized had parts was even more cool.

But in the end, the actors Carrie Coon, Justin, Amy, Christoper et al were so excellent.

Really, an 8.2?

Warning: Spoilers
Well I made it through 1.75 episodes.

I love the genre, the clothes, hair and so on. But this played out like a badly acted soap opera. I think that Alison Brie is great! as well as some other actors.

But Marc Maron, whom I have liked in the past, until he got too bitchy whiney, is way over the top.

The plot lines are ridiculous, and I just cannot justify spending any more of my time on this, too many other great shows.

Such as American Patriot for one.

First Episode is a Shoe In

I have only watched one episode, and I can't wait to savor the rest.

This is inventive, creative and hilarious. It was a brilliant introduction to a series that promises more of the same (I hope).

A Kiwi lead! I have watched many New Zealand TV shows with absolute pleasure. His face is new to me. He plays the lead role with subtly, and with the the dead pan face of a true comedian.

Big Little Lies (2017–2019)

How did Big Little Lies get such a high rating?

Warning: Spoilers
I am giving this show a 2 rather than a 1 due to the nice scenery. I only got through 2 episodes, if that.

Otherwise, it is awful on most every level. I am just amazed that this melodrama garnered so many enthusiastic fans. No offense, but that sets the bar REALLY low!

The whole thing is an unrealistic soap opera, created by David E. Kelly who is still clueless about women, their character development and psyches after all these years.

I remember watching many of his TV shows back in the day, and while I was initially interested, they quickly devolved into ridiculous dramatic soap operas as well. He simply cannot and does not understand the complexities and nuances of women.

Portrayed are awful shrill, petty, victimized, brutalized, generally unrealistic women, and one who prefers her ex of 15 years, who is a complete butt hole to the day.

Why are the women such weaklings in this show, Hmmmm, David?

No way is this a 10

Warning: Spoilers
Is this seriously what passes for 7-10 stars with viewers? Not in my book.

As a caveat, I only watched the pilot and based on the premise, I have no further interest. Ridiculous sex scene at the bank. Sure, get some and then give money to a shady character. The preacher man is a terrible actor, capable of only exuding smiles. Making an innocent police officer drop his draws to the mirror? LOL! I think not.

Telling said police officer that if he calls his rep, he will go on record as a possible rapist? Ridiculous! The formerly harsh Judge suddenly dismissing a case of brutal violence? Because "he has found God"? Ridiculous!

I find it amusing that the lowest star ratings were due to offense that the killing is in the name of God. It's just a crappy story, with mediocre acting and no nuance or sympathetic characters.

This Show is retched

Warning: Spoilers
Although there are some good points, and it is an interesting story line, I cannot believe that this is the same Alan Ball who created Six Feet Under.

This is so disappointing on so many levels...

Mainly the sexism. I have only seen Season 1 Episodes 1 and 2, but the pilot just didn't sit well with me. The fact that Sookie's brother tells her that she had better watch what she eats "if she is going to wear that (bathing) suit and Sookie just giggles at this reveals that she has a tolerant attitude for insults, and a weird connection with her brother. At least this scene was redeemed when he practically jacks off in front of her and her eyes are somewhat opened.

But Tara having a major crush on him? When he is obviously an idiot and possibly a murderer and has no interest in her what so ever? Completely demeaning to Tara's character, who otherwise is a great actor and has some good dialogue.

I just can't have any respect for any of these characters...Is it just me? I have no desire to watch any further episodes.

Just not what I expected from Alan Ball at all..

Battle Creek (2015)

Hilarious and Witty
29 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
"What impressed me most about "Battle Creek," was the writer's references, i.e. tributes, in the premier episode, to Tom Selleck and James Garner, and the "Rockford" TV show, as "Chamberlain" and "Agnew" clearly reprise the character concepts set down by "Lance White" (aka, Tom Selleck), as the perfect private eye, who follows all of the rules and always comes out on top of any situation, and "Jim Rockford," the seasoned private eye, who plays it by ear and definitely not by anyone's rules, but usually winds up a day late and a dollar short.

We're not talking plagiarism here, we're more inclined toward seeing it as taking a concept and expanding on it. I will definitely put this on my "Most Wanted" list."

One of my favorite comments.

This show is hilarious! Not to mention the excellent pedigree, Vince Gilligan (BB) and David Shore..

I really hope that this show is not cancelled due to lack of viewership and gets a chance to catch on.

Networks tend to be idiots that way. If a show doesn't get high ratings after 3 shows, they cancel. Hopefully, great shows will be picked up by alternative outlets..
