Metamorphosis (2022)
Not a typical horror, there's more depth
Im not usually a fan of horror films but this one was recommended by a friend so I gave it a watch. The story/plot has more depth than typical horror films. The indie filmmakers and cast did a great job in the making of this film as it kept my interest throughout.
Maysville (2021)
Well done indie film, recommended watch.
With indie films its a gamble because you never know what you're going to get. This film has the elements of a bigger budget drama with an interesting plot and characters and beautiful cinematography. Watch and be pleasantly surprised.
Kin Dread (2021)
Entertaining indie film. Give it a watch
A unique different film, pushing the boundaries. Thats what I love about indies is that they can break the "rules" from hollywood standard format. Watch it all the way through to really get whats happening.
The Misadventures of Mistress Maneater (2020)
Entertaining indie film
A refreshing comedic indie film with interesting characters and a plot that kept me intrigued. I took a break from watching dramas and thriller/horror films to watch this action comedy and what a treat! The world needs more films that bring us laughter and fun entertainment. Well done indie film by the filmmakers and the actors brought the characters to life. A recommended watch from me.
Dirty Harry (1971)
Entertaining classic crime drama
A time when politically correct wasnt a thing. Just resl raw truth of the way it was with some people. Love these old classic movies that are still quoted today. Clint Eastwood Steve McQueen Charles Bronson bad ass balls to the wall criminal chasers.
Greatland (2020)
fun interesting quirky sci-fi
Films that take us out of our lives into the world they create are truly entertaining if done well. This indie sci-fi does just that as it makes it relatable by making fun of things we encounter in our real world lives (deadly virus for instance). The acting was good, settings fun and interesting, visual effects believable, and so well done for an indie film to pull all of these things off with presumably a lower budget that what most films of this genre have to work with. If you have an open mind, like different quirky films then you'll enjoy this one.
Occurrence at Mills Creek (2020)
A recommended watch if you enjoy indie horror/thriller films.
The directing, acting, and story line were all good in this film - kept my interest and intrigue. A relatable theme of dysfunctional dark family with secrets. A recommended watch if you enjoy indie horror thriller films with unexpected twists, with more realism than "Hollywoodism".
It Hits You When You Know It (2020)
A recommend film to watch from me
This is a character driven indie film about relationships intertwining, past present and future. It follows Old friends who come together for a wedding. The plot and writing s good and kept my interest through this drama.
With (2020)
The theme is enjoy the journey along the way to the destination
It's all about taking the time to smell the roses along the way. Hats off to a film that is all about enjoying the journey not just pushing through to the destination as you'll miss all the really good stuff along that journey. Beautiful scenery enjoyable lighthearted inspirational film to watch. It's relevant because today in this covid-19 world we are learning to slow down and look at things in our lives in interesting new ways.
The Extraordinary Ordinary (2019)
A realistic story of the lives of people living with mental illnesses
This film is a raw real view into what it's like living life with mental illnesses, the ups and down triggers and challenges. It's not done with Hollywood glam, and not done in a documentary manner, but rather emerging filmmakers telling the stories in a relatable way. I thought the script, plot and dialogue were good as were the performances by the lead actors. I was drawn in and felt empathy for their journey's.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
Scary with a plot
This is a well done series and I understand why it's rated so high and recommended often. Not the normal haunted house story, and wow what a house it is. The performances are fantastic by all, especially the mom Carla Gugino, she does loving mom, crazy person, and scary ghost very well all at the same time! Off to watch The Haunting of Bly Manor now, hope it's as good.
The Queen's Gambit (2020)
Love this series
Was recommended as a good watch so I gave it a try. This series makes Chess sexy! I'm inspired to learn and play. The casting in this series is fantastic, love the performances, and the writing and unique storyline. Makes me wonder if this is based on a true story. Relatable in many ways (the alcoholism, dysfunctional family dynamics, competitive drive).
The Brink (2020)
Gruesome WWII post-apocalyptic indie film
This film is not for the whole family, it's intense, deep, gruesome at points, over two hours long but keeps ones interest with all that's happening. Well done for a low budget indie as the combat and other typical big budget scenes look realistic.
Paranormal Attraction (2020)
A suspenseful indie film
Starts out to be a typical horror film premise with haunted house and scary music leading up to scary moments but then there are some plot twists. I didnt predict the ending for sure. A good indie film watch.
The Stalker (2020)
Entertaining suspenseful indie film
The film has all the horror and thriller elements audiences want - blood, suspense, edge of your seat, scares. The cinematography is creative and draws you into the story and suspense. An entertaining watch. Good job by these indie filmmakers
Counterintelligence (2020)
Fun entertaining suspenseful film.
Entertaining thriller with comedy moments woven in. Kept my interest and intrigue set at a time just after an election, so its a timely premise. Recommended indie film to watch if you like suspenseful films like I do.
Bystander (2019)
Good action indie film.
The music, performances, and theme of stopping of human trafficking are all solid. I especially like how Director Giuseppe Lucarelli timed the suspenseful moments. Also particularly liked Sarah Torres in this film. Her character drew me in.
The Town that Loved Bigfoot (2020)
An interesting film
I never really thought about Bigfoot, I live in a city, who what it/he is and if he's real or not. A friend recommended this documentary so I figured what the heck, I'll check it out. It got me thinking and drew me into much more than just is Bigfoot real or not but WHO is Bigfoot. An entertaining film to open your horizons.
Banging Lanie (2020)
Funny Quirky indie comedy
I these unique spins on rom com stories. I was entertained watching this and was drawn into Allison Powell's performance in the lead, who interestingly is also the director of the film (not an easy feat to pull off well)! A refreshing point of view from Lanie on high school love and sex issues in a coming of age time of life. The cinematography was well done too and captured the mood of the scenes with the framing and lighting
Nicole (2019)
Creative, unique horror film
This film has a little of everything, creative directing and camera lighting work - with some color and black and white, don't see that too often. The tone is a mix of horror, humor, and intensity depicting the raw human emotions. The acting is well done, as well as directing. I like the risks the filmmakers too, it paid off for me, a fresh different genre film rather than the typical slasher that relies so much on red colors and bloody scenes to keep horror fans interest.
Chained (2018)
Real, not sugar coated or watered down story about living in the drug world
Eye opening view into the day in and day out world of life in a world of drugs. The film borders the line of a reality show because it's a real view into this world and not sugar coated water downed Hollywood style. If lighthearted is what you want, then you might want to pass. The story, director, and actors will pull you in and enlighten you. Congrats to this film making team for their courage to tell it like it is.
The Berlin Bride (2019)
Artsy creative film, fantasy, supernatural, dramatic, and visual
This film takes us on a journey into fantasy, music, and art. Creatively done mainly through visuals and music, without being burdened by dialogue, the director and actors explore the deep inner thoughts in subconscious. You will be mesmerized intrigued enlightened and entertained with this film, part fantasy, supernatural, and dramatic, it's a film and a work of art in one. Love it when filmmakers take chances, it may or may not resonate with audiences and this one is a success.
Joker (2019)
Intense, gripping, entertaining, deep drama
People told me this was an intense movie, and seems like my friends either loved or hated it so I had to watch it. It's one to watch a few times though because there is a lot of layers of themes and subtext going on. Mental illness, social injustice, relationships, to just name a few. Joaquin Phoenix nailed the role and was captivating in his portrayal of mentally ill Arthur Fleck. Todd Philips is masterful in his directing of this film. It was disturbing and made me think for several days afterwards about people, life, situations, and how we treat each other.
Making Time (2020)
Love these do-over kind of movies
If you could do it all over again... Second chances.. love watching these inspirational films as it spurs me to make sure I live in the moment, appreciate everything I have and don't let life pass me by. Grant Pichla did a great job with the writing and directing in this film - I was drawn into the story. It's a lighthearted inspirational heartfelt film - Hallmark channel style. A good watch if you need a feel good movie.
My Senior Year (2020)
fun lighthearted coming of age indie film
A fun lighthearted watch and escape from all the intense drama in the world and in TV series. I enjoy a good laugh and reminiscing about high school years. Relatable scenarios and characters makes this an entertaining coming of age film.
