Moon Man (2022)

Fall in love with the man in the moon.
9 April 2023
This is one of the best films i've seen in years.

This is a very funny film with loads more to it than just a comedy.

The special effects are next level and make the action sequences stunning. The music is perfect, the acting is amazing and comedy timing is spot on.

The story successfully moves from comedy masterclass to heartwarming thriller and you'll be talking about it for days i bet. I will be.

It reminded me of cross between Red Dwarf and The Martian, i consider that very high praise. I'd happily watch this again with friends and enjoy them bursting with laughter again and again.

Only a couple of gags didn't get translated and i feel i missed a big one. No spoilers, but i'd like to know what the symbol was on Earth.

Chiyu Zhang is a director to watch out for and the cast was perfect.

Watch this film! You'll love it!

Perfect parody.
4 November 2022
This is the perfect parody biography for a guy who has taken the piss out of everything for so long. So why not parody biography movies while he's at it?

This film will teach you so much about the 100%(99% margin of error) true life of "weird al". You'll gasp at the revelations, you'll swoon at the surprises, you may even break wind during the credits. But you'll never forget the life of, music's saviour, Weird Al Yankovic!

I for one cannot wait for the unlikely sequel, Return of the Living Al and Madonna Strikes Back.

Now everyone go watch UHF, you can thank me and Adam(can't keep it in his pants) later.

Final Voyage (2019)

Unique, slow, mysterious and worth seeing.
24 April 2022
This kept me interested all the way through.

It isn't a fast paced film but the top quality set and space visuals keep your eyes happy.

I like a good mystery and it's one after another on their journey. I would have happily sat through another hour of this if the story had continued.

The set is amazing, it really feels like a small old ship two people spent years in before these two found it.

Sound effects are perfect so is the acting. It's short on answers but there's enough in this to make you're own guesses.

Unique, slow, brilliant and it felt real. Enjoyed it. Though i did have to turn the brightness up a few notches.

I've always loved this film!
24 February 2022
I've always loved this film, i remember watching it a bazillion years ago, and it was very hard to find.

But the WB archive collection has it on DVD and it's well worth it.

Campy with a very over the top music score, but very enjoyable and dark in places. A remake would be amazing as the mystery/crime plot works well.

The main casts acting is perfect, the baddy is a bit hammy and his Carry-On muscle doesn't fit the part well, but this is a solid guilty pleasure movie for me.

In fact, i'm gonna watch it again right now.

Well worth a watch :-)

Pretty cool despite it's flaws
25 January 2022
I enjoyed this a fair bit. It has flaws like the magic cgi rain that never makes anyone wet and some lines were a bit odd.

But the sets took advantage of great real world locations to create an atmosphereric world. I'm not sure having all this happen by 2047 worked very well and the cliche of gender swapping avatars seemed a little outdated.

Yes it's a blade runner rippoff in so many ways, but it still works.

Give it a watch, if you're a fan of these type of films i think you'll enjoy it.

Different and a must see.
28 February 2021
I heard that the third film in the series was massive in china at launch so i fancied getting a taste of what another country loved.

After seeing the second i can say that the first film spends a lot of time building the character relationships, but by the end they feel like old friends. It's a serious murder mystery that happens to be being investigated by a genius and a clown, i loved it. It has dark moments, shocks, silly chases, laugh outloud moments and a gunfight in a hospital corridor that's a whole new level of "what the hell am i watching?!" But i loved it.

See this, then you'll love the second even more.

I'm hooked.

I heard that the third film in the series was massive in china at launch so i fancied getting a taste of what another country loved.

The energy in this film is insane and it looked like everyone involved in it had a blast as well. I've not laughed so many times in a long time. Comedy, over the top characters and slapstick chases should not work with a murder mystery film. But somehow it's a perfect combination. If you can cope with subtitles and like to see something a little different, watch this film. You wont be disapointed.

A classy entry into the series
14 October 2020
Right from the start you're left thinking, "this is a Tremors film?" It's very well shot and classily directed, I'd say it only dips into the appearance of low budget film about three short times. The rest is impressive with the feel of a Jurassic park movie. I really enjoyed it and I'd say it's the best film I've seen in 2020, an ideal one to forget the pandemic. If you've not seen the whole series you need to treat yourself and watch them all.

My only criticism would be the use of sequenced explosives to simulate the Graboid travelling through the earth, it looks too false. The far simpler rope method looks much more realistic. I forgot how much I love this film series, Burt Gummer is a real hero :-)

Loved it.
12 October 2014
I really enjoyed this film. I didn't know anything about it before viewing and was pleasantly surprised. I found the plot interesting and the whole film had a fresh and classy feel to it. The locations it was filmed in gave it a very unique look and the directing was perfect in my opinion. Antonio Banderas gave one of the best performances i've seen recently in a sci-fi film and i hope he does more movies in this genre.

In parts it reminded me of a cross between Blade Runner and District 9, but with an identity of it's own. It didn't feel like a rip off movie and i would watch it again.

Give it a try, i think you'll enjoy it.
