What Do We Know About Refugees? (2022)
Personal, Engaging, and Truthful
Beautiful in its simplicity, this in-depth look at what refugees have to go through has no smoke & mirrors, nothing fake or sensationalized. Just hard, honest truth. And it's told in possibly the most personal way, from the people themselves.
Sara Alavi has put together a beautiful and compact film that could have been even longer (maybe this will become a series?) and still remained engaging. The cinematography and editing are stellar, but it's all about the story being told. It feels like taking a class in not only the history of refugees, but how to make an interesting documentary that can make an impact.
Black Lives Matter - Listen to Our Voices (2020)
Just... Listen
This is as true today as it was 10 months ago. And we will need to hear it again in another 10 months. And again until the point is fully heard. This is raw and unpolished, and such is life. An honest voice needs no microphone.
