The First Omen (2024)
It could have been much more
So, first of all: Damien's mother was a jackal. That is fact, also a crucial point in both three movies. I don't get it, why they left out. It wouldn't have been a bigger scandal, than the one they left in the film. Probably because of the age rating, but hey: do it right, or don't do it at all. At least that's my opinion.
The cult is somewhat ok. Satanists must be pleased as well, I get it. They still pay for the tickets :)
And, we know from the first Omen, that a sect was behind the intentional swap of the babies.
The cheap jump scares: ewww. Stop them please, they're really outdated and overused by now. Not to mention, they take away the edge of the real horror atmosphere.
These.
American Horror Story: Opening Night (2024)
6 episodes wasn't enough it seems to take off
To be honest, after a half year of waiting I'm kinda disappointed. I was like this: if AHS (which I like a lot) wants to save this season, or cares even a bit: S12E06 is a now or never.
The saving did not happen, in my opinion, which is very sad.
I got to say it straight: if a show is wasting more than half of a season to make an epic conclusion in the last 2-3 episodes: the outcome will be flat. Period.
Not the first time, not the last. Shows have been cancelled for stalling a lot of times; so I don't get the reason behind this now AHS.
To make things worse, this is an anthology. The next season will be (if there ever will be) something totally different, with little to no ties to this season.
So no second chances to redeem. If this goes fubar now: it stays that way.
Obviously, I will stay until the end. The S1-3-8 connection was the best thing that I saw from AHS till now. I had high hopes, that it would continue with S12. Seemingly that's not the case, not until now at least.
Westworld: Crisis Theory (2020)
Don't watch the post credit scene
My greatest problem was with this episode was the post credit scene itself.
It seems like Rehobo was indeed a crook, it wasn't even able to predict the renegade Halores copy, neither its real intentions.
Because as it turned out in the post credits, the greatest problem is not Humankind anymore, neither the world burning down in the liberating process; but the swapping of humans with hosts - engineered by Halores (who's actually a Dolores gone rogue).
If this was done just for the thrilling effect, to make a raison d'etre for S04, the plot headed the utter bs direction. Like, Game Of Thrones level bs I mean here.
They ruined everything they built for the whole S03, in like 90 seconds, cool.
I'm getting skeptical for the next season, in my opinion they should've stopped here with the show.
Westworld: The Mother of Exiles (2020)
Dolores will lose it
I'm thinking because there's a critical flaw in her plan, a human called Caleb.
She's gone far to have a human on her side, but for what else than impersonating other humans? Should be more to that in the story, a gut feeling tells me that.
As per Maeve said this episode: she never really gave a choice to anybody else of her kind. In other words: Dolores doesn't care anything, but power and control.
Tbh, I was never thinking that Dolores ever brought anybody but herself out of WW in the first place. I wasn't surprised at all, when she revived it.
So, yes. I think Caleb's the one, who's gonna make the final decision about the human world - not Dolores.
And he'll choose his own kind in my opinion, over the robots, and over Serac with the master AI.
At least that's my idea so far for the ending of this great show.
Mr. Robot: eXit (2019)
What's next Elliot Alderson?
I think what we actually saw in the final scenes is about that Elliot's TRUE reality is the one with F corp and stuff like that. The Elliot who lives in this perfect world is the real one.
He still hates people, loves Angela and his family - who stand up for him.
He is happy (?) and still has multiple personalities which he suppress(4 actually, plus the real one).
And like most of this kind of people does, he also lives in his head - trying to save the world.
Remember back where Mr Robot, little Elliot and his Mother sat at the table? A chair was empty! Whose chair? Well, that's what we're about to find out in the last few episodes left.
My guess the happy Elliot is the real one, while the Elliot we've been following for 4 seasons is the missing one from the table.
That Elliot for 4 seasons is struggling to become happy. And for that, he sacrificed everything. There's no other explanation, parallel stuff is just bs here - wrapped in multiple personalities' delusions, making no sense.
In his mind actually twisted 5/9, E Corp, his Father, Angela, Whiterose, etc.
For what purpose?
Well, imo this is his way to express Fsociety.
At least that's what I see up until now. :)
2 episodes left, I'm really curious about the final conclusion. Good show :)
Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)
Overall quite OK
I can see reviews that are harshly saying that this movie is bad. I humbly would like to disagree with that. I'm not a comic fan though. I'd say only the last 20 minutes were messed up - badly.
I have really enjoyed the rest of it. The characters had to built up, don't forget they're all new. The plot is all new too, after Chicago. These all needed time to escalate - somewhere. The view of CGI is beautiful, but that's just a trademark. This franchise was primarily made to entertain You, not for rising deep thoughts; think about that haters.
The story, well, that could have been more deeply explained. The motivations of the humans are understandable, more or less. But this new foe. Why actually appears? Why now? For me: It was just dropped in with some made up cause, that's it.
The last 20 minutes... come on, that made me a little disappointed. How can I say without spoiler... Recruiting for the last fight, cut, fight, done, cut, kiss, cut, Optimus does his thing, lets roll ending credits. All this happens in 20 mins, roughly. Bam! No cool down, no explanations, no conclusions! It's like: interpret as you wish, use your imagination... The warm-up was extremely long, and no cool down. That's messed up Mr. Bay, badly.
So, all in all this movie is bringing what you could expect from it. If you expect CGI and explosions - you'll get them. If you want to see a movie, with a little (to none) needs to think - but want to be entertained, you'll get that no doubt. But, if you want to discuss the philosophical depths of it with your friends, you won't enjoy it. I was totally certain what I can expect from a Transformers movie. The movie delivered that - almost flawlessly.
