A rushed but fitting end for Uhtred
15 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This movies centers on the rise of Aethelstan to becoming King of England, and the battle he faces against the united kings of the north.

Some people may have noticed a decline in the show's quality after season 3, although it still managed to find its footing after some weak moments in those seasons. But the departure of the original showrunner/writer has definitely shown here.

This story would definitely have been better served as another season instead of a movie. From the start the pacing seems very quick and there are jarring cuts which would not have happened in the show. New characters are introduced but do not get enough introduction or development and there are some plot contrivances to push the story forward.

The third act with the final battle is definitely the highlight and the music/costumes/action etc. Are great as always. This was not a story that needed to be told, and the show's ending can work just as well, but for those who wanted to see more of Uhtred and his friends then they should enjoy this.

King Candy (2015)

Gripping, concise and well made for it's limitations
6 January 2020
At just 46 minutes long this short film is well worth your time. For such a small budget this film exceeds in certain departments such as direction, editing, story and cinematography.

The premise is interesting enough to hook you early on and keeping with the fact that it's based on true events has you become truly invested as the main character sinks deeper into his life of crime.

Very well paced with clever transitions and dialogue makes this exciting to watch and the slower moments linger long enough to add tension thick enough to cut with a knife.

The main issues would be the acting from some of the side characters where their lack of experience definitely shows when they're compared to Ralph who definitely gives a great performance. The sound mixing also made certain lines difficult to hear.

Overall this is a thrilling amateur endeavour that I'd recommend to anyone with an hour to spare.

Arrow: Seeing Red (2014)
Season 2, Episode 20

Probably one of the best episodes to date
24 April 2014
At first, I thought this episode was mainly going to be centered around finding and stopping Roy with some flashbacks to the island but I was completely wrong. This episode left more to the mind than I thought possible and was executed to perfection and is one of the most intense episodes I've seen.

The flashbacks were unexpected as were several parts of the episode but none were completely answered leaving the viewer to ponder until the next episode. This drives the character development even further. The episode seemed not to be too fast or too slow paced but just right to leave you wanting more.

There are some major turning points and plot twists which are enough to evoke a feeling of despair but also curiosity and now the climactic end to the season is ready to be unleashed and the stage is set for the final battle between Oliver and Slade which will prove to be more intense than the finale of the previous season.
