Disappointing
5 September 2021
We have read all the novels. This is a terrible hash of all things readers hold dear about Liebermann and Reinhardt. Compressing a 450 page crime thriller into 2 episodes just fails. They changed everything except the names of the characters. The casting choices are a travesty of the novels star personalities. It's been hacked to look like a Holmes, but it fails again and again. If you are looking to watch the series as an intro prior to reading, forget it, this will poison your mind.

It's just not that good
1 September 2021
The fragmented script fails to tie the events in the town together. Angry fog people, power outs, hallucinations, towards the end it still barely makes sense even as it tries to pass for a supernatural horror story. Early Carpenter, not memorable.

Can I get my hour 24 back please
30 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What a load of rubbish. Four vignettes linked by the mysterious doors. The first was the kids, it's the intro so you give it some leeway, not bad enough to turn it off. Number two is the knockers, OK psych thrill that gets silly, why didn't they just walk to the door, why shoot them. Number three, of course the boyfriend betrays them, but will it be enough to save the movie. Number four, outrageous garbage, the crazy spiritual interview. Oh, no it's over, but I wanted so much to turn it off, they cheated me of that too. If I had a wall I'd walk in to avoid this crap.

Transgender themed episode
29 August 2021
I remember that in either the 1974 standalone pilot, or maybe in Lisa's story (Ep6) was about about a group of transwomen struggling with their identy, working as dancers, the cops etc.

Garage film matures with age

Low budget yes, inspired writing yes, special effects nah. You either love it hate it, this movie has a cult like following. For all its quirkiness, the understated writing takes you to an unexpected place at the end you will appreciate for the rest of your life.

A personal favorite, but not perfect
12 September 2019
I fell in love with this movie I admit after playing Wing Commander III and IV on the PS. Sure, its not the same in many ways, and many movies spawned from games fail utterly, but this one has a life of its own. Inspired casting, epic story, great characters, I think its game lineage has placed it in a shadow it does not deserve. Recommended sci-fi bucket list.

Truly awful, interesting start then all down hill
12 September 2019
I started watching, plot jumps all over, character building is confronting in a way that does not seem well related to the overall plot arc. Then it has its "what's really happening" middle before it just collapses into moosh and silliness. None of it is scary. Why did they make this?

Waste of Time
27 July 2016
This is the worst movie I have seen all year. It runs an hour too long, is padded with useless battle scenes and the plot jumps around so much no one can tell what's going on from one scene to the next. The named actors are terrible, the lines stilted an the relationships formed are those classical of bad movies with quaint stereotypes. Give this one a miss, take back your life, take back your Saturday night, no one should have to sit through this rubbish. The entire high tech flashback container for the action makes no sense and when we return it continues to provide no answers as to why any of this was relevant, useful or entertaining. Who were that young Chinese couple anyway, why were they there, why am I watching this!

So so cheesy so so good
7 April 2016
How can you fault the exquisite B grade production values, the predictable plot, the cheesy dialogue and Hils, the queen of the independent female stereotype.

Everything about his show we loved from the first episode. We even loved Max and Spring Heeled Jack, both characters killed of by the nonsense plot twists. Kept us going to the end. Can easily support a second series. So many loose ends left open, the plot twists are convenient, frequent, mad and loose.

The best loved character is of course Hils, she makes the show. Bring back Hils as a spin off, I just have to have more Hils.

What a load of crap
12 March 2016
A clichéd, melodramatic waste of my time. As a transgendered person myself, the main flaw in the screenplay and direction is that Eddie tries so hard to play a female that he missed the point that he is supposed to be playing a m2f transgendered person. They are not the same.

The colours and cinematography at the start have you thinking its been designed as an art piece but as it goes on you just get bogged down in the terrible screenplay and Eddie's try hard misrepresentation of his character.

Boring, Boring, Boring ... it's just rubbish. What idiot put their money into this flop. I can't see the DVD's flying off the shelves. As for the last lines on screen where the Lilly character is touted as being some kind of trans hero ... really, only in the producer's imagination.

Dig (2015)

I was hooked for weeks into a complex plot ... but then it died!
8 August 2015
We watched this show each and every week. The entire house would discuss the intrigue and the complex plot, the baddies, who was a goodie, or not. Right up to the last episode and then ... then ... what happened, it just died, all the complex plotting all the mysterious characters, just dissolved into nothing and the show ended. We sat there on the lounge and looked at each other, we wanted to cry. How could they do this to us, who's responsible! What a crock of SH!T.

Even though we were left in tears of utter disappointment at the end, all the episodes until then were gripping and we loved every minute. I recommend watching all but the last episode, then just be happy with your fantasies about how it could have ended. Anything you dream up on your own will be better than that last awful episode.

Maybe it will become an internet meme - the "Dig" alternate ending competition. I still want to cry.

Waste of time about crusaders in China
17 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Wooden acting, predictable plot and poor cinematography. American imports with bad accents in a Canadian production with Chinese money. Guilt ridden ex crusaders in China save Prince.

I think the entire movie is summed up by the final scene were the camera pans up to sky. The entire crew must have breathed a collective sigh of relief that the nightmare was over.

Clearly made for a DVD release I doubt this one will ever even make it to TV, it's that bad. I agree with previous reviewers that the fight scenes are not badly done, camera angles and tight shots tend to spoil it, its not meant to be an art film. There are too many examples of hero versus 20 guys that wait their turn, surely this fell out of favor as a fight choreography 25 years ago.

Don't waste your time or money.
