Quietus (2012)
Intriguing, well directed and good acting
Really great Aussie short film. It follows Val (Cariba Heine)as she is stalked by Angus McLaren for no apparent reason. He seems to know her very well, but she isn't really aware of him until the end. It's a dark short that leaves a lot to the imagination, but Hari Jago and Burgess Abernethy both prove their writing and directing talent. I really look forward to seeing more from them.
In actuality the short isn't really a 10/10, but it's still up there. I'd give it an 8.5, I wish it explained more about why he is stalking Val. But I wanted the overall score to go up so of course I gave it a 10.
OVERALL I felt the film was delightfully dark, well written, directed, and performed.
You might recognize Angus McLaren from Packed to the Rafters or H2o just add water. Cariba Heine starred in Bait 3D, H2o and the Caroline Byrne movie. The model Jordan Loukas also plays a small role.
I watched the film on YouTube.
A Model Daughter: The Killing of Caroline Byrne (2009)
Emotional, gripping, great TV movie
This is definitely one of the best made for TV films I've seen. I'm a huge fan of Cariba Heine, which is the main reason I watched this movie and I'm so glad I did. All of the actors were spectacular, and the storyline was intriguing and exciting. I particularly liked the flashback scenes.
Overall I think the entire movie is brilliant. It even made me cry a couple of times! I'm very interested in the Caroline Byrne case now and I truly hope Cariba's portrayal of her did the real Caroline justice.
Just a warning that this movie does contain sex scenes and some language. However, it's still a must-watch! I can't look at David Lyons (who plays Gordon Wood) the same after watching this movie. It also may help if you research the Caroline Byrne court case a bit before watching. I did and it made the experience much better.
Bait (2012)
Good film!
My advice: Don't watch this movie and expect to see something horrible. I watched it with a group of friends and all we did was laugh at some of the bad effects (the shark at the beginning...ugh) and we didn't appreciate the good ones! I watched it again on my own and thought it was quite good! The tsunami was great, the actors were believable, there was comedy, and a few scares here and there.
I might be a bit biased because I love a lot of the actors. Cariba Heine (Heather) and Lincoln Lewis (Kyle) are the best characters, really hilarious, and I'm also a big fan of Phoebe Tonkin (Jaimie.
Check this movie out!
