Hollywood's Golden Age Best Line-Up
7 images |
Public
During Hollywood's Golden Age a small group of big movie studios dominated the industry, controlling every aspect of films, from production to distribution in what is known as the Studio System.
One of the main characteristics during these years, was that movie stars worked under long-term contracts for a major studio. Most of their projects were chosen by them as the studio made them work in the films that they considered suited them better.
The studio system started to fall apart in 1948 after it was challenged in the Supreme Court to separate production and distribution under antitrust laws.
The wide availability of television, starting in the 1950's, finally provided actors a means to break free of long term contracts.
Looking back at those years in film history, which of the 7 major studios in Hollywood's Golden Age had the best line-up of actors working for them?

First Color Films of Classic Film Actresses
35 titles |
Public
While color films have been around since the earliest days of cinema when kinemacolor was introduced in 1909. But despite the technology being available, it was very expensive and most movies up to the 1950s were filmed in black and white.
Things changed in the 1960s when color television sales skyrocketed and urged by TV networks, film studios started having color as their default choice and black and white films declined till our days, when they keep existing mostly as an aesthetic choice of filmmakers.
Many film stars worked when black and white films were the default option, and as such, we usually see the biggest stars of Hollywood Golden Age in a monochrome palette, however most of them did appear in color films.
Here are the first color films of some of the biggest stars of classic cinema.
Which one is your favorite and, if you haven't seen them, which one do you want to see the most?
Note: actresses whose first film was in color are excluded, uncredited roles partially and hand-colored films are not considered.

Scenes on the Seine

The 2024 Olympic Games are taking place in Paris, which becomes the second city in the world to celebrate the event for the third time in history.
Paris' goal was to focus on sustainability, and instead of building new and expensive stadiums, they used existing venues and Parisian landmarks to host the sporting events.
Of special interest was the project to use the Seine river for the Marathon Swimming and the Triathlon events, as well as for the opening ceremony. All these required an investment of 1.4 billion dollars to clean the river to make its waters safe for the athletes, and leaving a clean river as a legacy so people can legally swim in its waters for the first time since 1923.
The Seine will be an icon of the Olympics, and it is an icon of Paris, and as such, its waters and its world heritage banks have been featured in several films set in Paris.
