Lo que la vida me robó (2013)
Not Even Close
This series is a remake of 80s hit, Bodas De Odio, and 2004 Amor Real. So far, this series doesn't even come close to Amor Real. The actress is too slutty to be innocent Matilde, or in this case, Monserat. Her acting sucks and her fake breasts do nothing to favor her. I have watched Amor Real four times already, and every time it is a joy to watch. Seeing one episode of this "entertainment" is excruciating. Do not waste your time watching this garbage. Go to YouTube and watch Amor Real; trust me, it wont disappoint. Now that is a series that is epic and is worth watching. Adela Noriega does a wonderful job as the innocent Matilde. Fernando Colunga does a great job as Manuel, the loving husband who's world crashes down when he discovers Matilde's deceptions, and Mauricio Islas is an enchanting Adolfo Solis, who loves Matilde to death. Now that is a series, not this garbage
No se aceptan devoluciones (2013)
Genuinely a good hearted movie
Spoilers: DO NOT READ IF YOU Don't WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS: I reluctantly accompanied my mother who has been nagging me to take her to see this movie. She is a huge Eugenio Derbez fan. I know he's a comedian but I'm not a fan of foreign movies so I wasn't too thrilled about joining her. The movie is actually really really good. It starts off showing the many women Valentin (Derbez) sleeps with. One of these women is a blonde, Julie, who shows up at his doorsteps with a baby a year an a half later. Not knowing what to do with this daughter who was left behind by the mother, Valentin migrates to the US in search of his baby's momma. Once in the US, and by dumb luck, Valentin is hired as a stuntman. Six years go by and you see the changes that the baby girl, Maggie, goes through. Valentin is still a stuntman and has his daughter accompany him to his shooting. If he's ever unconscious, Maggie performs some kind of witch voodoo to bring him back from the dead. The little girl is curious about her mother and Valentin fakes a letter weekly to satisfy his daughter's curiosity. These letters are ludicrous and make the mom seems like some kind of superhero, which is the reason she cannot visit her daughter. Well, one day, Julie comes back and claims her daughter. She takes Valentin to court and after a curve-ball of a justification, wins in court. The little girl does not want to leave her father's side so Valentin and Maggie flee to Mexico. Once in Mexico, the Valentin shows his daughter a good time. Julie joins them later on after discovering that Maggie has a serious health problem and won't last long. While watching a sunset, Maggie takes her last breath and dies. Valentin is later seen walking along a beach with a little figuring of Johnny Bravo and reminiscing the life lessons Maggie taught him.
