Not well executed
10 October 2023
I think Russell Crowe was the standout in this film. He brings a lot of warmth in an otherwise dark and violatile plot and charmingly steals your attenion in every scene. The storyline was interesting-ish. Maybe could've been developed a little more. The downfall, for me, was the family the film centres around. Very cliche, troubled child, snotty teenager. Not terribly likeable so I didn't feel very invested in what happenes to them. Considering what is going on around them, their actions and reactions aren't very believeable.

"Why are they sending a priest??" "Uhh duuuhhhh!

Overall it was entertaining. Not sure if I would watch it again though.

Broken family able to look at themselves all day with many many mirrors in their home.
13 May 2023
I'm not sure why this is called a series. I just sat through a mildly entertaining feature length film. It was a fun watch I guess. Had all the old reliables. The guy that's a jerk, the horny teens, the part where someone says "we should all split up and look" and many many silly decisions that just lead to unnecessary carnage. The acting was pretty good. Not much of back story. Sort of just dives right in with little explanation. And it seems as if the writers just gave up at the end and didn't really try to resolve.... anything. Fun to watch but I was left with many questions including, why were there so many mirrors in the house.

So far so meh

There are some ridiculously talented makers of TV and film in this world who take a simple story and give it some kapowee with well rounded characters, brilliant dialogue, superb acting, beauty, ugliness and surprises. The story is lovingly filled out. The characters are interesting despite whatever the story is. You might love them or hate them. But it's good to feel SOMETHING towards them. This is not one of those times. The story is a fine story. Love the style! Music is pretty awesome. But to be perfectly honest I really don't care what happens to these characters. THEY ARE A BORE. Their fights are boring. Their conversations are boring. Their love scenes......put me to sleep. There's no chemistry between friends, lovers or enemies. I'm 6 episodes in and I sincerely hope something happens that makes me care more. But so far, without the fashion and the "some exciting parts" and the music, there's just boring there.

Better for kids not adults

I guess I thought this film would be similar to previous Ghostbusters. Clever dialogue. A little scary. Good story. This wasn't it. I think you take for granted how entertaining the original cast was and I understand that they weren't bringing them back but I couldn't help but compare them. The main players were a bunch of teens who just stumble upon the ghostbusters gear and seen to immediately know how to handle a town of ghosts. Very lazy script and lacked the intrigue and humour of the first two films. Even the ghosts are boring.

What an incredibly average film.

An unengaging movie with a weak storyline and very uncomplex, uninteresting lead characters. I honestly did not care if anything bad happened to any of them. I think Hilary Swank is an amazing actress so I can only assume that someone blackmailed her into being part of this semi-entertaining, and thank the lord it only went for 90 minutes, suspense/ thriller.

I felt like I walked midway into a conversation and was then struggling to follow

Nope! Not for me. I liked one fight scene but the rest was very fast paced and jumbled. I had no idea what they were talking about most of the time and the music score was extremely annoying. Got through almost an hour an a half before I gave up trying to make sense of it. Do no recommend.

This show used to be about zombies!!!
12 March 2019
What happened to this show?? It started out so strong. Zombies take over, fights ensue. Now every episode consists of long speech....intense stare.....long public speech......deep and meaningful conversation....some fighting between people aaaaand maybe a zombie here and there just so we don't forget it's roots. Really very disappointed about the direction it's taken. Has made a very slow decline since season 3 ( I would say) It's like the writers aren't even trying anymore. The only saving grace is Daryl....Without him on the show I would probably have stopped watching.

Were these actresses all high when they filmed this?

Astoundingly poor movie! Four kind of friends who spend the most part of this film flinging nasty (and incredible unimaginative) insults at one another, badly beat up a girl one evening at a nightclub. (over a guy...of course it was over a guy. Clearly the writers were dealing with some issues) In result the beat up girl ends up dying which they all think is really funny. Following this, the leader of this mentally unstable clique goes missing. Her "friends" spend the rest of the movie, screaming, yelling, being frightened and accusing each other but deal with all of these atrocities by going dancing. The End! Oh and there's this guy...I think he's a detective but his acting is a little unclear. The movie got a 2/10 rating purely because I found the acting so ridiculously funny.

Not bad B grade horror but certainly not good.
5 May 2016
I always get a little weary when I pick up a horror DVD and see it only lasts for 80 minutes. There are tons out there now. Short pointless horror flicks with minimal story/few scary moments/bad acting. This was a little above average.

Good stuff: The mystery kept me intrigued enough to stay till the end. There were quite a few moments where my mind was batting back and forth between being sure or uncertain. Is he lying? Is he not lying? You get the gist. Also if you like supernatural horror, as I do, then you will also enjoy the loud bumps, jumps, people being dragged around by some invisible being. Always gives me the jeebies...in a good way. I liked the fact that they didn't make this a "found footage film" but incorporated a little of that through the film. The film jumped back and forth between this, the past and the current and I thought that worked well. Maria Bello also played a believable character. I liked her. Can't say the same for the rest of the cast. Which leads me to the bad stuff.

Bad stuff: Acting wasn't great. The main character played by Dusty Milligan was not likable. I can't remember what else I've seen in him but I'm pretty sure he gave me the irrits then too. He was trying pull off scared and frantic and instead he just seemed....like maybe he was coming down off something or just really really cold. The rest of the characters were like fuzzy blurs with lines. None of their characters were formed enough for me to care if they lived or died. Also the whole - group of people go to a house/cabin/camping and two or more characters dislike each other - has been done to death. It has to stop!

In closing, entertaining enough but nothing too special.

Rebecca De Mornay! You used to be able to act! Spoiler Alert
2 September 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The creators of this film should hang their heads in shame. I don't know what this is but it's certainly not a horror film. I laughed more then I got chills and I mean laughing in astonishment! While watching this film I could actually feel myself turning red with embarrassment but thankfully the first sisters death brought a little bit of relief. Mischa Barton was probably the best of the lot but that's not saying much. I don't even think I have the words to explain how bad Rebecca De Mornay was. I should have stopped watching it when the sister had unrealistic conversations with herself but I kept telling myself that it couldn't possibly be this bad. Turns out I was wrong.
