Nomad with Carlton McCoy (2022)
Self-Centered Host's Voyage
Young smiling handsome New York sommelier travels the world to explore aspects of his own identity. He has minimal expertise or charisma and seems to lack humility. High production value, but the obsession with identity issues is tiresome and disappointing.
Georgy Girl (1966)
Confusing Comedy
Strange film about a normal young woman being insulted by her father, sexually harassed by a wealthy old man who tells her she's like a daughter to him, and literally chased by her roommate's frenzied and immature husband. Georgia has boundary issues, maybe because of all the mildly dysfunctional people in her life and from growing up in the home of her harasser and benefactor-who's also her parents' employer. She works as a music and movement teacher for young children. Apparently she barely earns enough money to live on, and certainly not enough to be self-sufficient when she takes over the care of her roommate's abandoned baby. She eventually gives in and enters a loveless marriage with the older man, in a way coming to exploit him for the stability he offers her foster daughter, continuing the dynamic of dependence for another generation.
