Mixed Nuts (1994)

One of the worst....EVER
2 August 2006
I saw this movie in the theater with 7 members of my extended family and we all walked out. I can't describe how dreadful this movie was. Can you think of a less appealing concept than a bunch of people manning a suicide helpline on Christmas and a scene set up so that the labor of one of the main character's looks like an immaculate conception? Not to mention the fact that Steve Martin has to be playing one of the most annoying characters in cinema history. Honestly, this movie still haunts me 12 years after seeing it. How anyone can say otherwise is a mystery. See it if you want to, but know how bad it is going in.

Definitely worth the investment

I have at one point owned both versions of the Best of Chris Farley: the 1998 version and the 2003 version. I found the 2003 version to be much better. Not only do you have all of the sketches from the 198 version, including Matt Foley, Bennet Brauer and Bill Swartzkey's Superfans, but you also have lesser known sketches and tons of special features. The special features include: outtakes, deleted scenes, Chris on Conan and Leno and a tribute to Chris. The latter is quite emotional and makes you realize how much we've lost. If you enjoyed Chris on SNL, as I did, or found out about him later, I guarantee that you will like this collection.

The Apprentice (2004–2017)
Good season, stupid people

I think the worst part of the Apprentice is that it takes an excellent concept (finding the next Apprentice by putting the contestants in real-world situations where they have to show project management skills and business acumen to survive) and places the dumbest contestants where intelligent, ambitious people should be. It particularly angers me that the women on the show are always chosen solely for their looks and lose their tasks because they are vapid, engage in cat fights and have air in the space where their brains should be. Of course, this has to be contrasted with the male contestants who are (usually) immature and have superegos, but at least have some sort of brain power. The blatant sexism on this show is obvious. But at least the concept of a reality show for the business world is engaging and you can feel slightly better about watching reality TV when it isn't about TV romanticism or really bad singers. Let's just hope that eventually they can find competent contestants to fit the bill on the show. Now wouldn't that be interesting?
