Sinners (1990)

This movie is really, really bad. The "action" is weak if not say not existent in this movie. The "acting" is absolutely ridiculous. I bought the German DVD for 5 .

One has to be really angry to have paid for this piece of.... It is not even that funny if you're just going to watch it to have a good time with a trash masterpiece even though the German dubbed version is quite funny as the voices sound like in an old porn flick.

BUT...there's gotta be a but. Otherwise I would have given only 1/10.

The cover of this movie is about the best one I have ever seen. Just watch the front cover. Brilliant! The back cover however is what really (and I'm not joking!) makes this movie worth buying - even for 10 ! There are rarely any movies which made me have such a good time as the text on the back cover did. I cannot possibly translate this into English without loosing some its fun.

I heard about empty covers and packages which are sold on ebay sometimes. In this case you Won't get fooled. The cover's all you need!

The Third Wave (2003)

I bought "Third Wave" for 3 and did not expect too much. But surprisingly this movie was really fun to watch!

The start is a little to slow but after that the movie is fast and full of action. Of course one should not expect the sort of action scenes one can find in Casino Royale or any Hollywood blockbuster. But these realistic action scenes do add to the tension the movie creates. The many changes of location didn't seem to be in the movie just for the sake of it as it appears in many Hollywood action movies within the beginning.

The acting wasn't over the top but the actors still did a good job. Maybe it just felt that way coz I watched the German dubbed version.

The one thing I did not like that much was the ending. The final just takes a little too long and seems exaggerated - (Especially as I am German and I wonder what people will think of the situation in Munich after having seen this movie,haha!)

All in all a very good movie though!

Der Eisbär (1998)

I've just "Der Eisbär" and do not quite understand why so many people dislike this movie. Due to that I did not have any high expectations it is true that this movie tries a little too hard to become a cult classic and that some jokes do not really work out (as the phone ringing a couple of times when the hit-man is just about to kill some fellow) but on the other hand there are some brilliant scenes. The burger robbery for an example is one of the moments in which the movie's concept really works out. Schwaiger's performance is not over the edge but he does a good Job. Ralf Richter is brilliant as always. The story has some weaknesses but somehow one does not really care as it is not the aim of the movie to tell the backgrounds of the story. I reckon it's quite a good movie and if you don't go to see this with the expectation of watching another "Bang Boom Bang" you won't be disappointed.

Liquid Bridge (2003)

Well I have to rate this movie with at least 4 stars as I would get mad due to the money spent on it if I had to admit that it only deserves 2 (which it does!).

I didn't expect anything spectacular. I thought it might be a meaningless but entertaining flick with some good surfing in it. Unfortunately it wasn't! I bought a German version of it. I don't know why but it's called "Gefährliche Brandung 2: Liquid Bridge" over here which makes you believe it has at least anything to do with the first one (Gefährliche Brandung: point break). Well it hasn't. Unluckily it hasn't anything in common with it either.

The movie itself is pretty boring. There is not much happening and unlike others I couldn't find any touching moments. I didn't care about the bloke and his dad. Neither did I care about the french chick (though I gotta admit she was cute) who left her boyfriend (for whom I actually felt more sympathy than for the main character).

The scene in which a girl gets hit by a lightning and glows blue afterward has already caught enough attention in here but it really is ridiculous indeed.

The worst thing though was, that the surf scenes seemed just to be taken off some other surf movies and had nothing to do with the actual movie. There were far to less surf scenes in it anyway.

After watching the movie in German I wanted to give it another try and watch it in English especially as I like the Australian accents but I had to discover that the German subtitles cannot be turned off. That made me mad and so I didn't watch it again.

All in all the movie is okay when you are bored and haven't got to do anything anyway but don't expect it to change your state of mind.

The Man Who Cried (2000)

What the hell is this movie about?!?!

I chose this movie to watch it together with my girlfriend as I expected some romantic and not fully ridiculous and at least half way sophisticated movie. However - it turned out to be one of the worst movies I 've ever seen.

I really cannot understand how anyone can seriously rate this movie with anything more than a 1 or maybe a 2 for Johnny Depp fans (which I am!) The pictures and the style of the movie is quite good. However there is no plot and no character development in it at all. You will feel no sympathy for even one of the characters. It feels like a number of pointless scenes arranged an extraneous way. Every time you start to think about just stop watching the movie there starts a scene with some singing which makes you think that afterwards there really has something to happen - but then it just doesn't.

I really ask myself what the aim of this movie is. There are no big feelings in it. I thought it might get more exciting when the Nazis take over France but it isn't as there was anything to happen afterward - luckily the movie is almost over yet.

So one good thing is, that this movie reminds you of how bad a movie actually can be done and what a lucky bastard you are considering you never have to watch it again!

Dude, Where's My Car? (2000)

totally weird!

I think it's one of the best comedies ever made. I barely expected more than another American pie when I went to see this movie but hell - this one kicks arse!!! It's unlike anything you've ever seen before. I don't think it's half as much fun if you 're watching this movie alone but watching this movie with a couple of friends after partying all night makes it most definitely one of the best comedies you're ever going to see! I got it for 7 bucks and it's really worth it. Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott do a fine job but it can hardly be said that this was a difficult job when it comes to acting. Jenniffer Garner stars in it as well and it's probably the only movie in which I like her.

By far the most unusual, brainless and unconventional comedy I've ever seen, yet one of the very best!

Dog Soldiers (2002)

I watched the movie and didn't expect anything. However it turned out to be a damn good horror flick with good actors and lots of action. Though the movie looks as if there wasn't much money spent on it that doesn't trouble the atmosphere. The storyline surprises the watcher a couple of times but everything seems to fit together. The ending is hell good and makes one feel glad - even a German ;) Everybody who'll watch this movie will feel sympathy for each member of the group. There's no meaningless victim in the movie. Everybody stands his ground and that's what makes watching the movie being so much fun! So go and watch it!
