Olympus Has Fallen (2013)
Great action movie!
So the plot is that the president's wife is killed in a car accident and Mike Banning, who was part of the Secret Service is discharged because of it. Later on, Korean terrorists take over the White House and bomb and gun down innocent civilians and completely destroy a part of the White House. In the end, Banning has found his way into the bunker where the President is being held against his will by the Korean leader, Kang and rescues him. This is just the main idea of the film; it's a lot more complicated than that.
I could not stop screaming while watching the movie because it was so action packed. It is so intense in a lot of the parts and keeps you in the edge of your seat. I'm so glad I didn't watch it in a thereat because if I did, I would've gotten thrown out within the first five minutes. My favorite action thriller by far! I am still obsessed with it and it's been 5 days since I watched it. You need to see this movie as soon as possible. I love this film so much.
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
One of my favorite movies ever; a classic of imagination
This classic holiday film shows the endless possibilities of imagination and wonder. Jack Skellington is the Pumpkin King in the land of Halloween and wanders out into the woods because he is bored of celebrating Halloween every day. He finds doors in the woods that lead to holidays like Easter Christmas. Jack is most interested in Christmas and is wonder-struck with this wondrous snow-filled place with presents and lights; this leads him to steal Santa Claus and his plot to bring Christmas with Halloween ultimately fails. This is a movie that needs to be remembered for its unique concept and beautiful stop-motion animation. I watch this film every year during Halloween and Christmas and never get tired. The songs are so creative and just wanna make you jump along and sing with them. You feel like you are in the movie too - both in Halloween Town and Christmas Town. The details in this film are very present and the attraction between Jack and Sally, a rag doll, just adds depth and character to the overall feel of the movie. I will never get tired of this movie! I love it so much!
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)
Definitely better than the first one!
I was excited to see this sequel because I was hoping it would be much better than the first Hunger Games movie. Turn's out I was right; the chemistry between Peeta and Katniss is so beautifully executed out and can I just say all the actors' acting skills are amazing! There is just the perfect amount of action, romance, defiance, comedy, and whatever I'm forgetting balanced into one fantastic movie. The arena scenes are my favorite; the graphics and special effects are just as great. I must say the script was good; there was only like one part where I was getting uninterested, but that was quickly dissolved when the better scenes came in. My ONLY disappointment was the ending because I was so drawn into the movie that the ending seemed so sudden. I felt so empty walking out of the theater. I honestly hoped I could go back and keep watching forever. I read the books a couple years ago and didn't remember any of it other than something about a clock, so I didn't realize the book ended with Katniss waking up too. SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE FIRST MOVIE!
Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)
One of my all time favorites!
Wow! I remember seeing this movie back in 2011 and today suddenly decided to review it. From the minute it ended, it became one of my all-time favorite movies ever. The CGI was amazing for the chimpanzees, and the plot is so unique that if someone were to look at a very brief summary, they would think of the movie as stupid. I was not expecting so much in the film even though the trailers were amazing as well. From what i remember, the intensity and chemistry between the main character portrayed by James Franco and his girlfriend to his dad just showed how deep a movie can become. This film showed all the elements I would only find in a 10/10 vote. From the action to the emotions, everything was just perfect and I am so so very excited for the sequel(from what I heard there will be one)If you haven't seen this one yet, you are missing out on a lot. I recommend this so much to everyone :)
The Tortured (2010)
A really great film with an even greater twist!
Wow, I must say this is one of the best twists to ever be in a film. You are already so deeply involved with the interaction and emotions of the parents and murderer that you can't even think of a good enough twist to occur. The summary is of a young boy who is kidnapped, tortured, and killed by a murderer. Soon after, the parents fall in deep depression and guilt and make a scheme to get revenge. They capture the murderer and torture him. The acting is incredible and I enjoyed every minute of it, but some of the torture parts had me muting the volume and not watching. But that aside, it was fantastic and had me glued to the screen for each scene. The twist is so crazy and the ending really got me thinking of how sad the film actually is. The movie was on my mind for days after watching and I was literally about to burst into tears when thinking of how dramatic and sad and crazy and terrifying the twist is. I really recommend this and you will have fun watching this one!
The Wife He Met Online (2012)
I enjoyed watching this film very much
I must say this is a very great movie to watch when you are just bored or want to be entertained by a non-crazy movie. This film is about a woman who gets married and becomes jealous of her husband's co-worker and their relationship years ago. Georgia, the main character, met her future husband online and later tells him about her crazy past and mom. It's really nice to see the tension build up minute by minute. I was not bored in any moment while watching, which is weird because I get bored or uninterested pretty easily with "plain looking" films. The energy never left me and I was hooked the whole time. You might be surprised that Georgia actually is so jealous that she kills her husband's co-worker. It's a great film to see anytime. Although you might forget about it a couple days later, and it's not anything compared to big-budget movies, (I think it is a Lifetime movie), it's enjoyable and interesting!
While the Children Sleep (2006)
Didn't have the best ending; but enjoyable movie
I watched this movie when I was bored and looking for something to waste time with. I started this movie in hopes of being interested the whole time, but that didn't necessarily happen. There were parts I got bored with, but they were quick and more interesting things came. I thought some scenes were unnecessary, like the attraction of the neighbor's son and Abby (or Abbie). They never had a sole purpose, and I didn't quite understand the scene of Abby crying in the rain after the party got ruined and killed a man. I wasn't intrigued enough re-watch it again though. I loved the babysitter's acting; it was fabulous and so was the mother. I wish there was a little more to the part when the mother's friend went to search Abby's mother. I had a problem with the ending because it ended too quickly and didn't fulfill me enough. I was hoping they could add to it and show the aftermath. It was an enjoyable movie for the most part!
Emanuelle e gli ultimi cannibali (1977)
Fun to watch when bored or for cheap thrills
There's a lot of sex and nudity in this type of classic exploitation film. I'd recommend it for someone who likes these 70's movies full of sex and and gore. Fun to watch and includes some pretty bad acting if you ask me. If you look at it from an exploitation type of film, its great! It delivers, but looking at the movie in general, this movie is pretty bad. Just depends if you're into this. It was exciting enough for me to call it a good enough film, but I was really bored that day. There's a lot of cheesy lines and acting combined with sex and nudity (masturbation is a common theme here). I was satisfied enough with the movie after watching it to write a review for it!
