The Favourite (2018)
A Favourite!
This is a fantastic film. The three leading ladies compliment each others strengths and weaknesses to no end. The timing and beat of the film is great, with a chapter like structure that helps guide the user through the story in a quirky and fun fashion. The complexity of Olivia Colman's character Queen Anne is a Favourite of mine - from her serious struggles with binge eating disorder to her kindness and compassion for her pet rabbits, her character struck me as the most compelling and developed. The Favourite is a Favourite / would recommend to anyone!
Disobedience (2017)
Authentic and raw, but who is Ronit?
This was a fantastic film in many ways - it felt honest, authentic and portrayed the many conflicting ways we identify ourselves as humans in this world. London looked it's absolute true self in all its grey, colorless areas. I struggled slightly to fully understand who Ronit was as a character. Who is she? What makes her Ronit? I would have like to have known more about this central character and allow her character to be revealed and developed more in the film. Besides this, a great film and a refreshingly different ending.
