Lurking Terror (2002 Video)

Warning!! Warning!!
26 November 2007
I cannot vote on this because I wouldn't watch garbage from these people. They got my money with another movie (Mr. Jingles) and I swore it would never happen again. I feel it's my civic duty to help people stay away from this trash. Go to the forums on this film and read where cast members try to act like they are seeing the movie for the first time. One guy even responds to himself ...using the same name! There are shills in the forum that say it's as good as Shawshank Redemption and Citizen Kane...Not even close (by no means). If this is the company's 2nd movie, it should be better than the first. That means the 3rd movie should be a lot better. Not so, I've seen it. All I want to know is how you distribute this trash using the same names all the time. Having fun with friends and making a movie over the weekend is fine...but don't try to market that trash!

It's better than being burned with a poker
8 September 2007
Another Son of Sam is definitely not an Oscar winner. Technically, it's horrible. The acting is not too good either. But there is something about it that makes you want to watch more (sort of like a car wreck). The ridiculous close-ups of the killers eyes are more funny than anything. If you are looking for a scare...this ain't the flick for you. It's very obscure and nearly impossible to find. I'm sure there's a reason for that. For a while, it was titled HOSTAGE. It don't matter what you call it, it's still a poor choice for entertainment. It might be good for a MST3000 party or something. Can you believe they would use such a title as ANOTHER SON OF SAM? If that don't have exploitation written all over it, I'll eat my hat. I remember when this was shot in Belmont, NC. A lot of local personalities were used as talent.

Garbage!
22 January 2007
Garbage. That's all I can say about this piece of crap. I was rooting for the killer. The main characters were so irritating and stupid, I wish they would have died earlier. Didn't the killer think about the fact that these "teens" would tear out those low hanging cameras? How about the dumb loud mouth girls standing in the middle of the room in the only light available making enough noise to raise the dead. Stupid! Most annoying people I have ever seen in front of a camera (I will not call these people actors, they couldn't act their way out of a paper bag). Never mind that the movie is a blatant rip off of another movie. Even if it wasn't, I'd still call it a piece of crap. When are they going to stop making these "teenagers in peril" trash? I'd almost rather see remakes. There was nothing entertaining, sexy, or interesting about the film. What a waste. I'm never renting Lion's Gate garbage again. After Mr. Jingles, I should have known better anyway. Save your money and watch "Saw" again. There's nothing but stupidity here. The only good thing about the movie is...hopefully all the casting agents will see the crappy actors in this dung heap and refuse to ever put them in front of another camera. I hated this movie! No doubt about it! I hope some of the technicians involved used a fake name. They deserve better than have their name on this piece of trash.

It's about time!! Something different...
7 January 2007
I saw this film at it's premiere and found it to be different from any movie I've ever seen. There were no car load of teenagers running from anyone in a mask. There was no hero with the goofy sidekick and there was no plot that I could predict. Very refreshing!! BUT...this is an odd movie and may not appeal to all. It's a dark story that takes place in a remote area of the mountains, yet, not so remote that it reminds you of "Hill have Eyes" or other films that occurs in the middle of nowhere. It just carries the implication that strange things can happen right under our noses, just around the corner, or a couple miles away. One minute the film has you in the safety of town, the next minute, you're locked in a cellar. The protagonist, though you won't forgive his actions, will actually gain your pity. I commend the writer-director for having the balls to put something like this to screen. It involves a subject that other films wouldn't dare touch. That alone takes brass. The film is well made and is shot in great locations. Nick Searcy is absolutely brilliant in the role of the simple minded mountain man. Anyone seeing him in the sitcom "Rodney" will not believe their eyes. Jeff Pillars was my favorite as Sheriff Bullock. Great job on a very interesting story. You won't forget this movie!!

The Body Shop (1972)

No!! Patterson made yet another movie!! The Electric Chair.
7 January 2007
One of the commenter's is wrong. This is not the only Pat Patterson film and he didn't die two years after this was made. He shot a film called the "Electric Chair" in Pineville, NC. He shot this a few years after Doctor Gore. Patterson died in the late 70's. I know this because he used my house and he left a cat there!! It sucked also. This was a big deal when the movie came out. No independent horror films were being made in NC. This movie didn't help matters. Patterson used to do gore effects for H. G. Lewis. He was also good at magic. His gore scenes in Body shop were actually well done. The film was shot in a building that also housed a 7/11. You can actually see the tops of the walls in some scenes. The budget was less that $20,000 and the script looked like a child wrote it. Only Patterson could understand it. Still...it's entertainment and it's a classic.

What a piece of....I loved it!!
15 September 2006
Hilarious!! I would have sworn Ed Wood wrote this. Terrible. I loved every frame. Bad movie aficionado's, this is your trophy! I will watch it again. Words cannot explain how entertaining this movie is. Pare's career must have dipped low, but I really think he's heading in the Leslie Nielson direction. He was perfect for this. Terrible, just terrible!! You'll love it!! Get some friends, lots of beer, and you'll have the time of your life. It's an MST3000 party, waiting to happen. Enjoy!! It is worth the rental!! You like the "Colombo type" cop and the comic relief coroner. The bad guy will have you on the floor laughing. He's also in another Pare movie, Komodo vs Cobra, and he's just as good there. I don't know what the budget was but they'll get it back because this film is destined to be the best unintended comedy of the year.

Last Days (2005)
a welcome change in movies
5 December 2005
After seeing so many films with a fast paced "video game" feel, this was a welcome surprise. The slow approach and long shots made you feel like you were there. I have a new appreciation for Van Sant. The film was mesmerizing and uncomfortable at times. Truly talented film-making. After watching it...it made me think. That's something you don't get from a lot of the mind candy they throw at you today. I didn't get what I expected from the movie...I got more. The supporting actors did such a good job, I felt like I was watching a documentary. Knowing the story from the daily headlines of the time gave you a feeling a dread and Van Sant handled it beautifully. A very odd masterpiece. It makes me want to see "Elephant".
