Revolution (2012)
Ignore bad reviews ESPECIALLY!! with SCFI shows.
Once again a good Sc-Fi show get's bad reviews, people complaining about the science, characters etc etc. I'm currently into the second season and my god the show has grown.
Season 1 basic summary - We have Rebels vs Militia(U.S government has fallen) and the politics and back stabbing that goes with that. No electricity and the background as to how it happened and why there isn't any. The show has good fighting and action scenes. Also there's a conspiracy that doesn't become clear until the second season. Story starts slow then picks up. Acting gets better as the show goes on, it's almost as if the actors were warming up to the story. Plenty of cliché characters but this improves too. Season ends with nuclear bombs dropping.
1.To all those moaning about the science not making any sense, please tell me what you know about nano technology and nanites. Turns out that's what is keeping the electricity off. 2.Annoyed by the cliché rebellious teenage girl ? well she's a cold hearted killing machine now. That's a change that occurs after more than a few episode.(shocking right should happen in 5 episodes) 3.Bored of the whole rebels vs oppressive enemy ? you can't be a real sc-fi fan. Stargate done in it the past and Falling Skies are doing the same now, their both great shows. Rebels are not always in the form of any army but the premise is always the same in Sc-Fi, there has to be an enemy good example would be Fringe.
Season 2 so far(no big spoilers here) - Very interesting, at first I thought they might drag out a few things that happened at the end of season 1 boy was I wrong. What we have is a conspiracy, the U.S government is back in play, no rebel army and the main militia group from season 1 is no more. Instead the main characters from the Rebels and Militia group are actually working together now. That's no not all either, watch the show and you'll enjoy it.
Defiance (2013)
In truth 7/10 but I'm getting sick of the bad reviews for GOOD Sc-Fi shows
After watching the first season I got a bit of everything, good story, good acting, action and mystery. After watching the trailer I must admit I got my hopes up to high, but after accepting the show for what it is I really enjoyed it. Like I said in the summary, I'm getting sick of the bashing of good Sc-Fi on IMDb, too many people give up on shows too quickly. If your an avid Sc-Fi fan, add this to your list, if your looking for a good TV show to pass the time, add this to your list. It's not as good as Arrow but what is right now ?
P.S Revolution has turned out to be a great show, despite the initial reviews.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013)
Promising
This show is not about The Avengers it's about S.H.E.I.L.D. S.H.E.I.L.D appear in most Marvel comics X-Men, Spiderman, Fantastic Four etc. This story is about their fight not the super heroes.
If your watching this show because of the Avengers, you will probably be disappointed.
The story is very straight forward, new technology is out there, the rich, powerful, individual's and organization's around the world are trying their best to get their hands on it. Of course there doing this illegally and of course the innocent will get caught in the cross fire. S.H.E.I.L.D's job is to protect the world form it's new reality, since the Avenger battle in New York. The general dialogue and interaction is not great, but the humor of Agent Coulson(Clark Gregg) is good and the dialogue improves in the more 'serious moments'. The character's and acting again have some positives and negatives, Agent Coulson is a treat to watch, the two main S.E.I.L.D agents are solid and I am optimistic about their development over the season. The rest are cliché in a bad way and very annoying, I'd have to get into spoiler's territory to explain in detail.
It'll be interesting to see the how the grand scheme of the season develops(there better be one), I assume there will be an organisation or individual who will be the main focus down the line.
Overall I think 7 is fair, I can't wait to see what the Agent's of S.H.E.I.L.D face next week.
