Flavorful Origins (2019)
Pure representation
What I love about this documentary is that it's straight on and truly authentic. I found myself waiting for the narrator to explain the taste and texture of the food by comparing to something I recognize (like the western/eurocentric person is use to...!) Then I realized that's the whole point - real representation of the cuisine and it's origin. And people, skip the English voice over! For some reason though, the female voice isn't subtitled!?

Giri/Haji (2019)
AMAZING!!!
I got intrigued when I read about it on Netflix and ended up watching all 8 episodes in 2 days. Could easily have watched it in 1 day if it wasn't for life stealing time lol. I loved everything about this series. The narrative, the acting, the way it was filmed, the characters, the music, the perfect timing and amount of humour, the portayal of the women and omg the odd but fantastic contempory dancing scene!! I broke down in tears, didn't see that coming but I was caught completely off guard. Giri/Haji can't really be compared to anything, it's that special.
