When was the last time we had a good Hindi film in the disaster survival genres?
The answer will lead you to last Friday's release Mission Raniganj.
Based on the story of how Mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill led a challenging rescue mission to save 65 miners trapped in a flooded coal mine.
Now here me out, guys... it's not your typical hero/protagonist led story which is supposed to just cheer audience up for the sake for it. The film has its intentions and heart at its right place. I felt happy when I should've been, I shed a tear when I should have emptied buckets (that's my problem), and I got them goosebumps when the film needed me to have them.
Right from the beginning till the end, it keeps you gripped. And hence, it succeeds it's intentions.
What an ensemble too. I was happy to see a lot of cast members get the required amount of screen time instead of getting crushed by the weight of having an A-lister. We need good ensemble films, we don't have these enough these days especially since good comedy films stopped getting made.
Still 3 months left but it's safe to say that this film makes my top 5 Hindi films of the year.
Catch it in theatres peeps!
