Deadly Impact (2010)
2/10
deadly impact? not likely
26 April 2010
First of all, I love a decent action flick as much as the other guy, given it has a good story, good acting, some nice twists, good action sequences, (keep in mind, I said GOOD and NICE, not PHENOMENAL or BRILLIANT)and let's not forget about the mandatory blond/brunette/redhead bombshell. Deadly Impact has none of the above. Apart from it's cheesy title, the only two good things in this movie are Sean Patrick Flanery and Joe Pantoliano - that's why I gave it 2 stars instead of 0 - , and even they are far from their usual acting. It took me half the movie to realize that Carmen Serano really IS the female lead in this movie, and I can't understand why on earth would the producers/casting/director/studio choose an ugly-tranny-lookalike when there are so much more rising - and HOT - female stars out there. And some who CAN act, too. Not even Sean Patrick Flanery's shaggy, beat-up-look - which is always welcome - can't save this one from sinking. Final report: don't bother, unless you have absolutely nothing to do for about one and a half hours. Watch The Boondock Saints instead! (both)

Vanilla Sky (2001)
10/10
a brilliant journey of self-awakening
12 September 2005
The movie starts out as your average romantic-comedy, you meet David Aames (Cruise), a good looking, successful playboy-type executive at a big company, who takes all for granted, his best friend Brian (Lee), who is somewhat his opposite; Julie (Diaz) who is David's "f*ck-buddy" - according to Brian - and, of course David's soon to be love interest, Sofia (Cruz). Everything is nice, love is in the air, the birds are singing, and the sky is a Monet-vanilla blue, but real soon you get the feeling that something bad is going to happen. And it will... After spending a night with Sofia, David meets Julie, who can't see their relationship the way he sees it. From this moment on, the movie turns into a psychedelic ride into David's tortured psyche. Suddenly the vanilla flavored daydream turns into a nightmare. What is reality? Who died? What happened? The casting is perfect, Cruise at his best, Cruz proves that she has more than just her cute accent. A brilliant journey of self-awakening, masterfully directed by Crowe.

Sniper 3 (2004 Video)
Tom Berenger is still great
19 February 2005
Warning: Spoilers
OK, this gotta be the worst Sniper movie ever made. No offense, Sniper and Tom Berenger fans (I'm a fan too), but lets face it. Sniper was a great movie, Sniper 2 was OK (though it suppose to take place in Serbia, all of the "serbian" people is speaking fluent Hungarian) but Sniper 3 is seriously weak. Why? OK, lets see: poor directing, an obvious and transparent storyline, and what's with the finger?? Well, I don't think that's Berenger's fault (he did his part perfectly), but much likely the director's. I only watched it because I like Berenger, and I like Sniper. After Sniper 2, I expected Sniper 3 to outdone its predecessor and thrill me like the first one did, but it's far from it. It has some nice features like the music, the casting was perfect (Tom Berenger is still great as Beckett), good editing, nice action shots, but that's the far as it gets. There is one thing that I missed the most: the sniper vs sniper action.

I only recommend it to Sniper and Tom Berenger fans. A solid 4 out of 10.
