A Horror Movie Without Horror
11 October 2016
This movie needed subtitles as I could not understand most of what the actors were saying. I know this a period movie but in order to enjoy the movie I would like to know what is being said. You also have actors from places like Scotland speaking American English dialog from the 1600's. It's a double whammy. The father's dialog was the most difficult to understand. His deep deep voice only made it worse. The mother's dialog wasn't much better. I watched the movie again on Amazon Prime with the subtitles enabled which did help. Almost like watching a foreign movie. In the movie theater I did not have this option.

The only scary part of the movie was the part that involved the baby. I will not give away the details of what happens in case someone else decides to watch the movie. This isn't a "so bad it is good" movie, it is a "what was the purpose of making it" movie. The acting isn't bad. However, if you want to make an art movie - make an art movie. If you want to make a horror movie make a horror movie. The director tried to make an art / horror movie and failed on both counts.

The location shots was great, the only reason I give this movie 2 stars instead of 1 star. I would say this is basically a boring movie. It could have been much better. The movie's ending looked like it was tacked on just to finish the movie because the director / writer ran out of ideas.

Low Budget - Entertaining
13 July 2016
I like these types of movies. I have many movies in my DVD collection just like this one - low budget or should I say no budget - basically showcasing older horror movie monsters from Universal, Hammer Films etc. The main character Creeporia carries the movie, she seems to be enjoying herself and is a looker. So don't expect a masterpiece, just take it for what it is and that is a low budget silly movie with very little plot. If you like Elvira or Zacherley's Horrible Horror - you will like this movie. You can tell the makers of this movie grew up on old horror movies, Famous Monsters magazine and the like. I watched this on Amazon where Creeporia and Creeporia Part 2 were combined into one three hour movie, so it was a little long. So, sit back with some popcorn and enjoy. I did.

OK Movie - Sequel Is Better
7 July 2016
I watched the sequel to "Space Daze" first which is called "Spaced Out". It was pretty good - although kind of long at 99 minutes. So, I decided to check out "Space Daze" figuring it would be better since sequels usually are not as good as originals. Wrong. I watched this movie all the way to the end even though I was tempted to turn it off and watch something else. It's sequel is much much better. So if you have extra time on your hands and want a couple of laughs go ahead and watch it. But you will only get a couple of laughs and not much more. Corey Feldman is in this movie for a couple of minutes and his lines are not funny at all. Do yourself a favor and watch "Spaced Out" instead.

Songs Better Than The Acting
16 September 2015
This movie isn't as bad as everyone says it is. The songs are the best part of this movie. The problem is the rest of the movie. The acting is terrible, the direction is terrible. If a good director had been at the helm, this movie could have turned out pretty good. Aerosmith's version of Come Together is as good or better than The Beatles original. I think a better plot, better acting could have saved this film. Maybe have the singers just doing their versions of the Beatles songs and having regular actors doing all of the acting parts. When I watch the movie now, I just fast forward to the songs and skip the rest of the movie. I give this movie a 5 rating just for the songs.

Great Movie. Buy The 2 Disc Release
14 November 2010
This is one of my favorite films as a kid. I have always been a big Toho fan. Godzilla of course was/is my favorite "Actor". It would have been nice if Godzilla would have been in this film as originally planned, but Baragon is just fine. Why this film has such a low rating of 3.7 is beyond me.

I have an original full screen terrible transfer copy of this film on VHS but I still enjoyed it. When I found out that this movie was coming to DVD I bought it as soon as I could. Boy was I surprised when I opened the DVD case. Inside were 2 DVD's. Disc 1 was the original uncut version of the film in Japanese with optional English subtitles and disc 2 was the English dubbed edited version. Both are 2:35 widescreen versions!!! If you want to buy this movie make sure it is the 2 disc release. You will be glad you did.

Later that night I put disc 1 in my DVD player and watched the movie for the first time in it's original version with subtitles on my big screen TV with popcorn by my side enjoying every minute of it.

This movie was made for kids and the young at heart. It is a fun movie and nothing more. I give this film a 7.0 rating.

Adam Sandler on a cruise ship
6 August 2007
This one of the best and well acted comedies I have ever seen. The plot is clever, the camera work exhausting , the soundtrack incredible and the acting superb. The movies budget must have been in the millions of millions. Adam Sandler must have spent months and months on the script to get it just right. Billy Zane must have begged his manager to get such a juicy part. Billy Bob Thorton must have the same manager as Billy Zane to get such a movie part. After watching this movie I sat on my couch for 30 minutes just trying to comprehend on what I had just seen. I was completely and I do mean completely speechless. I can not believe that this movie did not get an Oscar.........................................Just kidding it sucks !!!

Fun Movie - Great SFX
19 February 2005
I watch a lot of Vampire movies. I KNOW vampire movies. Hammer Films have always been my favorites. Christopher Lee will always be the best Dracula.

Vampire Effect is a fun movie from the beginning to the end. The dubbing is not great, but I also like Godzilla movies, so I am used to badly dubbed movies. Anyway, I liked this movie very much. The SFX are great. Even though Jackie Chans part in the movie has nothing to do with the plot and seems to be added to sell the movie, he is enjoyable in it. The Fang work is excellent. The acting is not great, but this could have something to do with the bad dubbing. Maybe the actual language would sound better with the movie if I could understand it. I am sure the movie Gone With The Wind sounds worse in another language.

I own this on DVD and would not part with. I have it sitting on my bookshelf next to my Hammer Films DVDs.
