The Village (2004)

Surprisingly perfect in its own right
1 July 2006
This film was visually beautiful. It's emotion was deep and provoking. The score by Ottman was fitting. The storyline was full of subtle twists, and also direct. I liked Night's technique in this film, and i'm glad i watched this film. I can see why people would dislike this film. Example one: You go into the video store or movie theater expecting a "horror" movie, full of monsters and/or gore violence etc. In this film, you will not be getting that. This is storytelling, with a dark atmosphere. I've encouraged others to see this film, reminding them to go into it expecting not a "thriller", "horror", "fantasy", or any other label you want to tack onto it. In general people could do themselves a great favor by looking at films, art, and music, with a clear mind, and taking it in slowly. This is an updated modern fairytale, and fairy tales have no boundaries. Sometimes, you need to shut off the logical side of your brain. Give it a chance.

Silent Hill (2006)

A work of Art !!!

For all horror fans completely underwhelmed by most of todays horror films...You are in for a big surprise, and a total treat with this film. From start to finish this film penetrates your senses with amazing atmosphere & Visuals, Sound, and story. The soundtrack is nothing short of amazing completely in sync with the emotion of the film.

I was entirely prepared to not like this film, and didn't have high expectations. I never get scared, or even moved by horror films, but this one tickled all my deepest buttons that needed pressing. This movie never at one moment appeared or seemed "Cheesy". I give it an absolute "Zero" on cheese factor (thank god). This film is intense and comes off with an extremely serious and severe tone, it is completely stark and hopelessly lost in its own dark world :) . I could even be understating how much i approve of this film. People kept running out of the theater, and one girl threw up! :)Ah, the joy! :)

This movie exceeds all my expectations and makes a top 10 favorite horror movie of all time. I'm rating this 10/10, but if i could i'd give it 20/10! Be prepared to make your own judgments, and openly disagree... Enjoy!...

Absolutely awful!

Oh!...I am in awe of how terrible this movie is. I am a huge horror movie fanatic. And i finally got a chance to see this. It is one of the worst i have ever seen, next to "Troll 2" (that might even be better). I could barely make it through. The directing was awful, the storyline is SO awful, characters are 2d, special effects are worthless. It was so bad, i wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. The story is about a Nerdy boy who lives with his Christian "mommy", who gets picked on at school by bullies in the bathroom. They spend a lot of time in that bathroom it seems. The cousin of this infamous nerd is a bad ass motor cycle riding 80's boy toy who's reckless with the "babes". They all seem to tamper with this phone-line 976-evil, that tempts them into doing naughty things, via "satan". After some time, the main character (nerd), gets obsessed and the evil takes him over. Wow. Then the tension builds!...He goes on a minor rampage taking foes out. I wouldn't want to spoil the terrific ending in case your tempted to see this (note the sarcasm). If i could rate this below a 1, i would.

It is a waste of anyone's time. You will actually kill brain cells by watching it.
