a shinny B movie
14 March 2019
Action, medium light nothing to fancy or exciting story, weak mindless entertainment that had more potential. script, decent acting, fine like most netflix stuff everything is simplified to keep the budget down. simple entertainment, this quality of film gets boring fast. I liked the few songs they used. not bad and not good

fantastic music
18 August 2012
I saw this film at off 2011 (Okanagan film fest) in Kelowna B.C Kevin came and played before the film which was a real treat, it was very cool how the whole thing was presented. As a Documentary, Kevin is very well put together, the right questions are asked and answered, Kevin's story is interesting and inspiring to watch. As a lover of unknown musicians I really appreciated the filmmakers dedication to the music of Kevin Gant.

The music Kevin played is really something, He blends some styles of guitar playing that you will be hard pressed to find elsewhere. I bought and love the CD and strongly recommend that music lovers check out this film.

OIFF review
30 September 2009
I had the pleasure of viewing this film earlier today. I am screening films for next summers Okanagan International Film Festival, this was on of the entries we have received thus far. It is a graphic film. Sex Violence and crack smoking well acted. Nice script, genuine dialogue. Good story well executed. I give it a 9.5 and will definitely be recommending it to play at our fest.

I love getting to screen short films, and the good ones like this are why. I just wish these things would make it to DVD in compilations or something, its to bad so much work goes into something so few get to see.

Yeah. better-n-Average
15 February 2009
I screened this film for the Okanagan International Film Fest in kelowna B.c. I also own kelowna's largest Independent video store. When comparing this film to the multitude of Zombie films I have seen over the years it actually fairs pretty well. The story had many original angles and ideas. The acting was not great but good. the writing also good. The gore was reminiscent of classic zombie films, they sometimes did not show the wounds being inflicted but there was plenty of blood and lots of people and zombies die in satisfying ways. the quality of filming was also good. If I compare it the 10-15 zombie films that I have seen from this last years releases there were only 2-3 that were better. So all in all for a $25,000? film it holds up very well. I will be recommending it for our late night feature this year.

B grade fun

Sexina Pop Star P.I What a great title. I had the pleasure of previewing this wonderful film as an entry into the Okanagan International Film festival in kelowna B.c. I am going to recommend it for a late night showing. I found it to be a tone of fun with a wonderfully cheesy yet witty script all based around a profoundly amusing story. I find it funny had much better indie B movies are then the Hollywood ones. The bottom line for this film is that most people are not made for this kinda thing but for those of us that are it is well worth the admission price. based on the type of film this is I give it a 9/10

Kepping mum meets wit
24 February 2008
I have been previewing indie films for the upcoming Okanagan International film fest 2008. I have seen around 20 indies so far and the whole time I was just looking for that one movie that really stood out. The French Guy is that movie I loved every moment of it, from the very serious dramatic beginning to the strange and dark comedy that ensues. I found that as a dark comedy The French Guy was far more serious than most at the same time it never let up with its sens of humour. The acting from every actor and actress was flawless, the directing and writing were perfect original and creative. I believe that if given the chances this could have a very successful DVD release, I hope it gets the attention it deserves. i could write and endless list of praises but Then you would just stop reading so make an effort to find this and take the time to watch it and you Will not be disappointed. May 7/08 the film fest is now over. I was very happy to get the chance to meet Ann Marie Flemming (she is a very Sweet little lady). After having watched this film in a theatre with 50 or so others I am pleased to say I now give it an even more enthusiastic 10/10, it is so much funnier than I had remembered. Nov 14/14. I am so glad that I still have the screening copy of this so I can watch it from time to time (This summer I threw out ever screener I had, over 1000, from my film fest days, except this one) Still no DVD available. Every viewing I am surprised to find that its still a 10/10

Best film for families in a long time!!!!
14 February 2008
Today I had the pleasure of screening this film for an upcoming film fest. We are in the proses of picking films and I have watched many duds. This one I through in with no idea what I was watching and was amazed. The story was a lot of fun. The characters very natural and well acted. The script also natural and witty. The Directing was great. The production value was better than most Hollywood family films. A lot of people will compare this to such films as spy kids or catch that kid but this one has far more real characters. It is not a totally clean G rated film it defiantly hits a PG mark but in the same way that Second hand lions did for some realistic fist fights as well as a few people shot. If I have my why this will head up the family portion of our festival.

1st place award for most useful information
8 February 2007
I own a Video store with hundreds of documentaries. I have seen loads of them and love all of the great info out there. Only a small handful though even come close to offering info as important as this one. I have been reading through other peoples reviews of this film and can't help but notice that the main things people are criticizing are irrelevant. Such as "It is very one sided" Such a pathetic criticism, every where in society that you look you will see the other side, and if you still need help go to globalpublicmedia.com. "It is the same people over and over" Uh one might be led to believe that these people are the experts, so maybe they are the best people to interview. "filming style is all the same, head shots with few exceptions" If you want flash and dazzle watch Micheal Moore if you want info watch real docs such as this one. As you can plainly see none of these complaints have any relevance to the information contained. My guess is that these people are just missing the point and don't wanna give up there SUV's.

My recommendation: Watch it. Learn from it, and continue your education about such subjects. It is very important stuff for EVERYONE.

dismiss all 1/10 ratings they are not valid!!
3 October 2006
I had no intention of reviewing this children's flick but after all of the negative reviews and poor ratings I just have too.

So what if they changed the voices the new ones while being different were still really good (you have to ask yourself if there had not been an original would you still give it such a bad review. No would probably be the answer) Don't get me wrong I love British films and generally find them better than most others. I thought that the animation was amazing the story was great all of the dialog was well written and the characters were fun while being somewhat childish at times (this film is geared at young kids) I am 27 and male and enjoyed it. My niece (3 years old) has seen this many times and loves it. And for those who compare this to films like shrek, this is a kids film intended for kids not a childish adult film disguised as a kids flick. Please people give good movies a fair chance. Anyone who is pathetic enough to give a movie like this a 1/10 your opinion is not remotely valid and you should stop rating films and grow up. I could accept a 3,4 or 5/10 but a 1/10 should be reserved for films with no redeeming quality's.

Best use of $35,000
2 October 2006
I saw this the other night at the okanagan fall film fest and it ruled. This is the kinda movie that $200,000,000 would not necessarily make better. The script was awesome very smart very funny and very witty. The acting was all spot on, not one weak character. The directing, cinematography and special effect were all perfect. (just so you know I do not know anyone involved so this IS not a biest review). The beauty of Canadian films is due to lack of budget they have to be exceptional films in order to get picked up and maple has picked this one up so you should see it in your local independent video store come mid November, and I strongly recommend it. All I have to say about this film is that it was well worth the $8 movie ticket and I will stock several copy's in my store.

yay...not too shabby

8/10 I often enjoy the silly antics of the jackass boys and this film was no exception. It dose not go as far as jackass or steve-o's solo stuff. This film is made up of a bunch of Paradise of real t.v. show such as CRIBS AKA PADDS or things like Mexican cops. Mostly just a bunch of immature silliness, perfect for a late night chuckle with a bunch of your best budds and a um vase (yes mom thats a vase or is it a lamp). There are some 2/10 segments but also lots of 10/10s as well. If you are a national lampoons fan or a fan of jackass or just a happy little stoner looking for a laugh you most likely will enjoy this film.

if it were American u would have hated it too
8 July 2006
I will never understand why people think crappy foreign films like this one are so great. Seriously if this were an American film nobody would watch it but for some reason unbenonst to me it has a very high rating. Now don't get me wrong I do really like foreign flicks but they have to be good to get me to like them.

The acting was not bad at all the script was flat but not unrealistic the plot? not to exiting (and I love slow drab films) basically I think the director did not shine in this one and as great as his other films are supoed to be I hear this is his big classic. I doubt I will watch another of his.

not so exciting
11 December 2005
Warning: Spoilers
this film has its good points: hot chicks people die

the problem... the hot Chicks barley get nude and you don't get to see many of the people dieing, mostly just lots of fast movements and screaming though there were two good kill scenes.

also for those of you watching this for JENNA JAMESON she is just a side chearator with a very small role and Minor nude scenes.

What this film needed.. script and story would be nice but I will not complain about that.. simply put it needs more nudity and better kill scenes cuz lets face it that is why we watch these flicks...

I wouldn't waste my money on it...and if you must, wait until it's on the OLD shelves at your local video store

It was just that good

I am not a big fan of Billy Bob, but damn he's good in this film so is Lisa Blount.

All around a good film well acted well written and well directed. I love the old school bluegrass country music, and deep south accents.

This is one of those great white trash dramas that kary so much power comparable to UNDERTOW, HOMEGROWN, AND ILL FATED I love these films and this was the best like it that i've seen.

It is so nice to see actors/actresses look haggard and old instead of perfect in all situations.

Though so much about this story is a little far fetched, they did a great job of picking up on neat little quirks and mannerisms of the characters that made them so real.

uummm...crap!!!
6 December 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I own a video store so I got a screener of this film..

I am sorry to insult the gentleman who made this film...but what the hell.. I have seen many poorly done serial killer flicks, and some have been worse than this one but, boring..

for those who just wanna see some boobs and girls getting strangled during long unexciting sex scenes maybe this one is for you. this film was full of long slow montage shots of unimportant crap.. the acting was okish the script could have used a little more useful dialog... I did like the interview parts with the real killer (asuming that that was the real killer) and the general setup was OK...

I think they just needed to spend a lot more time and energy on this one..

needless to say I will not be bringing in a copy for my store.

a bunch of teens get there asses kicked by a guy with a baseball bat with a saw blade stuck in it
29 July 2005
So, I got a screening copy of this film a few days ago. The story wasn't bad. The script was a little silly. the acting was a mix of really good and somewhat poor. my big complaint with this movie is that a lot of people die but most of them are killed in the classic horror fashion-lots of screaming and some blood spray but really you don't get to watch them die, and lets face it that is what we watch movies like this for-now getting on towards the end there are some really good death scenes as well as some very well choreographed fights which is what made the movie.

If only the whole movie had the quality of the end it would have been an easy 7 or 8 out of ten. What I fail to understand about a lot of horror movies is the way they so often don't actually show the people dieing...I just don't get it..
