Good, but kind of "over the top"
9 August 2005
This movie was really funny. It is great for those kids who are just starting junior high. I just had one problem with it: it was sort of over the top. Everything, the story, the characters, and even the way some of the people represented their role. Alex kind of put too much effort in showing how he was feeling, so it ended up looking like he didn't really mean what he was saying. When Max says one of his lines, they sometimes sound like a speech. Oh, and there could have been a little more romance between Max and Megan. She really liked him, so they should have done more than just talk to each other, be friends and hold hands. Sure, they're only in 6th grade, but after all, they were twelve-year-olds. Disney movies sometimes show younger kids in romance, so there should have been a little more of that in this movie, too. But the rest was great. The bullies, the principal and the food1 fight!!!!!!!!! I know anyone will like this movie.

Horrible!

How can I say this? Rodriguez disappointed me. This was going to be a family film, but I think of it more as a... waste of family money. The actors were pretty bad (especially the kids), and sometimes, the kids would have this whole "encouraging and make-you-feel-better" speech. Kids won't understand what the point of the speech is if you take them to see this movie. They'll probably like the action and all, but they will think the whole speech thing is a snore. All I'm saying is that maybe we should try not to make that many kid action movies again for a while, because this is a perfect example of getting carried away with the fact that the main characters are supers. Kids, trust me, when you see this movie twenty years from now, you'll hate it.

Nice movie, but definitely not a classic
30 May 2005
I know that, when people make a Barbie movie, they are probably thinking "This movie is going to be a classic" or "They will probably like it so much, it will become as famous as Annie". But when I saw this movie, I was sort of disappointed. I thought it actually would be a classic, but it didn't have enough songs to become a classic, and there needed to be more emotion in the story line. Still, the movie itself was nice. The only problem with it was that it didn't have the potential to be better than those smash hit Broadway movies. Broadway type movies are usually emotional and have a very very very good cast. This movie had a cast that I would give five out of ten stars, and there were only like nine songs. I hope that the next Barbie movie actually does "make it to the top".

Not perfect, but very good.

I think it was a good movie, but it wasn't your average Sound of Music type thing. It wasn't that exciting, but was enjoyable. I wasn't an American Girl fan when I watched this so American girl fans must have enjoyed it more than I did. American girl fans have a different point of view, so I guess they were the ones who mostly enjoyed this movie. American girl fans see everything related to American girl as a big thing, but people who aren't that interested in American girl just think of stuff related to American girl as something that happens, well... very often. That is exactly why this movie would be enjoyed mostly by American girl fans.
