Nope (2022)
Just so, so bad
The first 45 minutes were probably the slowest 45 minutes of my life. Slow dialogue, scenes that were completely not needed, a TERRIBLE CGI monkey, in 2022 I couldn't quite believe how bad the graphics were. There was some promise in the middle of the movie with some fairly tense scenes and good mood shots, but quite frankly it fell flat and I wish I hadn't wasted my money and time.
The main 'scare' is supposedly a UFO, which turns out to be an other-worldly animal, but this also holds no fear factor and isn't particularly good CGI.
Overall the movie is a miss. Get Out was excellent, Us wasn't great, and this is terrible. Afraid Jordan Peele may be the victim of starting too well because his fall from grace is really something to behold.
Friday Night Dinner: The Au Pair (2020)
Just a really unfunny episode
Friday night dinner is one of those really easy to watch programmes that actually feels realistic to watch, and I've enjoyed it for the first 5 series. This series started okay with the first ep, the second wasn't great but had its moments, but this episode was some of the worst TV I've seen in years. There isn't 1 funny moment, it's become increasingly unrealistic, the new character introduced wasn't funny, wasn't likeable, the only actually 2 gags she had was she needed the toilet a lot and liked cream teas? Where's the humour in either of those things? I hope the writers pick it up or this has to be the last season, truly dreadful attempt at an episode which I can't quite believe made it to air.
The Walking Dead: Bury Me Here (2017)
And now we truly are rising up
FINALLY. I have loved this show with all my heart since I saw the first episode, and until season 7, have very rarely found an episode I have not enjoyed with every bone in my body. Season 7 started well, but I do feel it has gone downhill, and although I have no disliked episodes this season, I haven't felt the same buzz as in previous seasons. Until now.
This episode may not have the show's favourites such as Rick, Daryl and Michonne in it, but I feel it is probably the best episode to date in which we have not seen the main cast. Benjamin's death was excellent although expected, and Morgan appears to have reverted back to his former self with a brutal killing of Richard (thank God, what an annoying plonker he was).
I also found it fairly heart-wrenching as Carol learned of Glenn and Abraham's deaths, it was like re-living it once more.
+ Acting was sensational from Morgan and great from Richard too
+ Richard's death scene
+ Carol is back and s++ts about to go down
+ The last episodes have been set up excellently
- Although I enjoyed this episode, I do prefer the whole cast together
- Great but still not on the level of past seasons
My rating is an 8.5/10
The Walking Dead: The Same Boat (2016)
The tension grows
This episode of The Walking Dead attributes both the things that make it truly great, and the things that make it truly frustrating.
Following on from last week's episode, we see who Maggie and Carol have been kidnapped by, a dreadfully annoying woman that is designed to irritate us from the start, and her death at the end of the episode was incredibly welcome.
This episode is arguably a character-building episode for Carol, and somewhat for Maggie also. We see them take centre-stage and prove that they are strong enough to take down a group such as the saviours. The final 10 minutes is fast, exhilarating and you can't take your eyes off it, but the first half an hour is very slow, talkative and I found myself just saying COME ON ALREADY before the inevitable conclusion.
POSITIVES:
+ We saw more of Maggie and Carol + The plot thickens and I can tell it's moving to greatness + Last 10 minutes were great + Daryl hugging Carol was reminiscent of Season 5 Ep 1 and pulled on my heartstrings some more + Lauren Cohan is flawless
NEGATIVES:
- Acting of Alicia Witt is good but frustrated me - I know Carol was a weak character to start off with, but I thought she was a badass now? Why so tearful and weak in this episode? - As for season 6, this is a very slow episode
I'm so in love with The Walking Dead, that my 9/10 is actually quite low. Most of my reviews are simply 10/10, or at least 9.5+/10. Despite this, can't wait for next week's episode!
