Signora Volpe (2022– )
10/10
Best Brit Series Ever
29 February 2024
A clever introduction of this show. The premise is exciting and the plot doesn't get dull. MI6 will miss her enthusiasm and her gusto for the job at hand. The switch from broody London to exquisite Italy is without a doubt fresh air to us many detectiphiles, loving intrigue, scenery and rapid fire action is what we crave. Signora Volpe is breathing freedom of the multiple layers of bureaucracy that is stifling her life and her team. She no longer needs or wants the attention of her peers to use her skills. The upcoming episodes will undoubtedly be fresh and exciting with the Captain of the Italian Police.

I've just completed episode three and once again I am excited that it was or is as good or better than 1 and 2.

The scenery of the Italian countryside is breathtaking.

Please rate this show with an excellent number.

The cast is wonderful and the lighthearted romantic looks are amazing. Look past what others are criticizing it for just sit back with a Negroni and a loved one and get enchanted by the story and of course Italy.

True Detective (2014– )

A mystery Excellence
26 January 2024
Well how do you start saying that this True Detective starring Jodie Foster is very dark when you are in Alaska without any sunlight. The premise is that our heroine is in a land that is a snow globe with a murder that isn't proportional to the total inhabitants of this town. It's cold in this abyss where our Jodie has been sent as a penance for some wrong doing which is at this point not known. The bizarre deaths and Indigenous peoples of the Arctic meld into a story that is dark, mysterious and dangerous. Without further ado I strongly recommend this program but don't turn off the lights as it delves into the world of "science" or does it?

Spade
17 January 2024
Spade is a digger into the soul of a past that was both pleasurable and dangerous. Here is Spade in France to do as he is paid to do without question.

Obstacles so what, he is "Spade". The iconic hero of olden times not some costumed character out of a comic book. Spade is a man who has faults but he overcomes them with sarcasm and fearlessness.

Episode 1 of 6 defines a Spade of a different caliber, a man that wants and wants nothing but to be loved and respected and alone. This trilogy of emotions is a nothing more than a celery stalk in a Bloody Mary to be eaten at the end of a hard fast drink, wait just throw the celery away.

I watched all 6 episodes and was happily surprised when it ended. The quagmire of the ending was imaginative even though it was a thick muddled muddy finish.

I won't give anything away but you will be whistling a tune that soon won't leave you to sleep.

I hope there is a season 2 or maybe I don't want a season 2.

Excellent
10 December 2023
Excellent movie on PEACOCK. The movie states it's PG 13 but I found it more to an adults taste in horror.

The theme was fascinating as it was meant to be lovable. The stars are relatively unknowns but they held my attention with their acting skills. Most of the film is in one area but that's to be expected in a horror movie.

The horror comes across suddenly and to my amazement I was shocked by it.

Overall I enjoyed this movie and would have given it a TEN except for the having to write SIX hundred words to make a point. The movie, story, film was good. But really this volume of words is stupid.

It's Good but Canceled
6 October 2023
Boo hoo another good series canceled because the ratings were low. Really Netflix why do you constantly cancel shows. You don't advertise them very well. But you cancel them because you don't care. Listen I like Netflix but you are pushing me to a limit I don't want to reach. Another show that wasn't full of gore but did have an excellent premise. My grandson son enjoyed the premise and the hidden meanings and danger involved. The specters were interesting but not overly frightening.

Well no matter it was canceled so we will never know what the outcome of the hidden door hides. Also the future of the cast and possible love links.

Well Netflix you are certainly making many customers unhappy once again.

Just to be clear
25 September 2023
Just to be clear I enjoyed this Hallmark movie. I don't usually like them as they are so predictable. This mystery was fun and in my opinion the acting was superior to many hallmarks other films. I enjoyed Ireland scenery and it was a breath of fresh air. The vistas were amazing and the quaint village was a wonderful place. The Easter egg at the end of future collaborations was inspiring to me and the future shows. It wasn't a girly movie as many Hallmarks are. What more can be said without giving anything away is difficult in 600 words. The fine Irish actors certainly brought this film up to a nine of ten.

Keep up the excellent work Hallmark.

A film that opens eyes and minds
23 July 2023
This is a movie that while destined to the trash heap is not garbage. It is an enlightening film that portrays people, because of legal issues, carefully. If you can read between the lines you will see similarities to today's headlines. The actors portray(many people) in character and do well. You must listen and understand the time frame of the 1930's. Extrapolate the nuances and forge thoughts of the current events of the USA in the current events pages of history. After seeing this film go to your computers or laptops or cellphones and look up Major General Smedley Darlington Butler "retired" an learn the truth of the movie and why it's important in today's society. If you aren't impressed or otherwise concerned then you are destined to have history repeat itself.

Spectacular story and scenery
2 July 2023
What can be said of this genre, the fascinating story from start to end. Let's take one by one:

Acting - the leads were great for their interactions with each other and the supporting cast.

Plot - an intricate story of murder and mayhem and comedy. The twist and turns lead you many ways down alleyways with dead ends. You start to wonder where you went awry in solving this complex mystery.

Scenery - the visuals of Spanish countryside are beautiful.

What more does one want in a murder mystery comedy.

Well the supporting cast they help make the episodes sing and dance through the hour.

Enjoy a romp with the cast and try hard to eliminate the cast of questionable murders.

Crying over cancellation
11 July 2022
Amazon had a hit here but it needed better advertising. The cast was superior to many other shows. Also the story line needed more time to develop.

Oh! Well guess I need to buy the book from Barnes and Nobel not Amazon.

Outstanding story and cast

Outer Range is the super super fictional story of the 21 first century. If Amazon dosen't make a part 2 they're crazy. I am all in on the story line. Josh Brolin is truly a major star.

10 episodes done
14 April 2022
Before I decide my rating I waited for 10 episodes. The story line has climbed and piqued my attention. The backstory is interesting and I can't wait to find out where the night crawlers are from.

Season 2 will have a lot of living up standard.

A delightful film. Easy to follow. The acting was above mediocre. It's unfortunate that the next 2 books weren't made. Trying to find them to purchase is difficult.

Wonderful experience
20 February 2022
Each episode is fantastic. There isn't any way that Hollywood could reproduce the courage and tenacity of the pioneer spirit. But this epic does make it real. It's about people wanting a life of freedom and to prosper or fail on their terms. When 1883 concludes I will be looking forward to the next generation in 1935.

If you like high flying adventure then sit back and buckle your seat belts. A grand fun movie. Entertaining from start to end. On edge of my seat and held my breathe. Wonderful cast, great story that has made me delve further into the history of early ballooning. Enjoy this film.

Fun filled movie. Kate Beckinsale is a powerful force to reckon with. Bad guys, good guys and crazies all succumb to a JOLT in the end. Each character is well defined.

A tale of anger, frustration, depression and love
4 February 2022
We, my wife and I, sat through this thoughtful movie and it brought genuine emotions to the surface. So many pieces in this maze fit into our reality. One line that hit home was by Jack that maybe he didn't know how to grieve.

I blurted out need more alcohol, I've been there. May people who in pain from loss see this and understand the symbolism of family and getting the anger to surface.

I have upped my rating to a Ten
28 January 2022
This is one of the finest shows made. Helen Hunt is a visual genius in execution of her character. There is scheduled 6 seasons hopefully the pandemic allows it to be fulfilled.

I have now finished Season 2. It remains for me a riveting story. It shows the fierce determination of both sides. The British resolve vs the German people that look at Hitler as a god. The youth of Germany were wasted and in the end they fall from grace in the world's eyes.

Regardless of some literary license the show is mainly about people not understanding the meaning of WAR.

It does show the weakness of humans and the obscurity of conflict.

Today we see it in the Ukraine where civilians are nothing but collateral damage so the politicians can wash their hands and sleep at night. While the damaged need to find food and shelter and medical assistance.

Israel and Hamas have both contributed to the word ATROCITIES. Hopefully it doesn't arrive on our shores because cowardice will rear its ugly head.

I look forward to season 3.

Interesting period piece

I liked it, even the repetition of scenes. The 3 acts made it feel like a play. The artistry and the seasonal changes helped create 14th century France. Again I liked it.

Morgan Freeman and Virginia Madsen played well off each other. Wishing I would have seen it in 2012. The movie is a playful feel good film. It represents what we are sorely missing in society today, RESPECT.

Warning: Spoilers
It was an excellent thiller. Using Tippi Hedren as a come on with the birds in opener was just a shill come on. Other than that it held my attention.

Jonathan Pryce was perfect for his role.
