Firefly Lane (2021)
Love this!
The acting, the perfect flow between flashbacks to present day, and the story line all had me hooked and wanting more. It was a fast and easy watch for me. Highly recommend.
Outer Banks (2020)
I was surprised I liked this!
Looking at the characters and the image on Netflix, I originally thought this was something like the OC and not something I'd be into. I'm so glad I read the description because it was so good. The kids are following in the lead character's late father's footsteps, looking for treasure. There's a mixture of good and bad fortune, which makes this all very believable. I could have easily binge watched, but I found it had good stopping points as well. Looking forward to season 2 (hopefully).
Wir sind die Welle (2019)
Wasn't what I hoped it would be
Having loved the Third Wave novel, I was really excited for this show. Unfortunately, it fell flat. I couldn't tell if the voices were dubbed or if the audio didn't consistently match the video, which was distracting as I was trying to figure this out. I couldn't connect with the characters. They were too extreme stereotypes to feel real.
Schitt$ Creek (2015)
Comedy doesn't get much better
I enjoyed this show. I thought the characters were endearing and the comedy was on point. I wish there were more seasons to come.
If you're debating watching, watch the pilot (The whole thing) and then decide. The show is consistent and the pilot is one of my favorite episodes.
Tiger King (2020)
Watched for the hype, wasn't that great
I caved to the hype and decided to watch Tiger King. The filmmaking style and the odd characters made for an interesting story, but I do not understand what is so wonderful about this. If I wasn't quarantined, I would have been disappointed I wasted the time. The memes are better than the show. Overall: I gave a score of 5 because I stuck with it and the style was done well. Not a fan of Joe Exotic or that b*tch Carole Baskins.
When They See Us (2019)
Such an important story
I was not familiar with the Central Park 5 prior to this series. The script, acting, and storyline worked together to make a great series that serves to inform my generation about this injustice. Watching the series, my heart broke for each of these boys/men. The backstory, but also the acting is what brought forth this emotion in me. I would be interested to know if I would have been presented with the same evidence and been on the jury, what I would have thought and it makes me question how many times our justice systems gets it wrong. As much as I despise the actual killer, I am so grateful he came forward and confessed. The final scenes about where these men are now brought on even more tears. I can't imagine this is something you ever "get over" but I am so happy to see them thriving.
The Society (2019)
Hopeful for season 2
I was interested enough that I kept watching episodes of the society, but it wasn't until episode 9 and 10 (the last two of the season) that I really cared about what happened. The first few episodes are really slow and I didn't care for the main character, Cassandra.
There is a persistent use of profanity, most of which was not necessary. It seemed like poor script writing and didn't serve any real purpose.
I am hopeful for season 2's storyline.
