The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: All Alone (2018)
Season 2, Episode 10

The last scene was perfect
12 May 2019
I always enjoy the scenes with the family, and I am starting to enjoy the comedy routines more as the season progressed, but the last scene of Season 2 was perfect to me. That was a scene that said something I had never seen before, and something to which I completely understood, for I made the same sort of decision and had that similar delayed realization. When the piano started as they walk toward each other, well... just perfect. Well done by actors and director! And the editor! Now I am looking forward to Season 3, but... will watch the last scene of All Alone over and over!

Good film, great acting
15 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this film because my husband and I are fans of Jamey Sheridan as well as some of the other actors. It was great to see John Savage, as always! We both enjoyed the film. The beginning stumbled a little for me; some of the dialog was stilted and stiff in its exposition and the opening few scenes were, overall, bland with nothing new. My other problem was with the editing of the sequences. I could not tell where Harry was, literally, in a number of the scenes. I didn't know whether he was driving far or near. But that's a small problem. The acting, as previously stated, was very good and it's a testament to the writer, director, and producer that they were able to get this impressive cast together and get this small film made in these precarious times. Once the opening scenes in Harry's adopted home town were over, the movie picked up and became interesting. Jamey Sheridan was quite wonderful in the role. It made me think of his role in "The Ice Storm" which was also wonderful. If you like small intimate dramas, then this is something you can really enjoy. It's a shame that it is not seen more, but hopefully, it will have a new life on Pay Cable.

Up in the Air (I) (2009)

Liked it, thought I would love it.
1 December 2009
I attended an industry screening in LA on Nov 24, a small group, 30-40 people. I was surprised by the lack of excitement at the end of the screening. It didn't seem like anyone was bowled over with the film. I enjoyed it, always enjoy George Clooney, and I think he did an excellent job on this film, particularly when he portrayed some vulnerability. I didn't particularly care for the two female leads. Competent actresses, but I didn't spark to them or their characters. I enjoyed the plot and appreciated how the subject matter fit into today's economy even though based on a book and with a script that was written prior to the economic free-fall. I guess I just expected to SUPER LOVE this film, and I merely liked it. Maybe on second viewing, I will like it more. So far, Thank You For Smoking remains my favorite Jason Reitman film. I know I'm the odd man out on that!
