Bringing down the man
6 August 2005
What do you do when one month after you break up with your boyfriend, you find nude pictures that he took whilst you were dating posted on the net? You recruit his current girlfriend in bringing the scumbag down, thats what you do.

Beyond our Ken is unlike most films coming out of Hong Kong these days, that is...it was actually a good movie put together beautifully with a very satisfactory ending.

Gillian Chung (one half of pop group Twins) did really well in this film, straying away from her normal perky, happy go lucky roles playing the ex, and Daniel Wu as Ken shines as the sleazy character.

I highly recommend this movie if you're sick of the typical Hong Kong films, it was a refreshing change, smart, slick and put together great with a good ensemble cast.

another cop movie from hong Kong
2 June 2005
Moving Targets...wasn't so much disappointed, it was actually an o.k movie, lets put it this way, its what I've come to expect of Hong Kong movies these days.

Kit (Nicholas Tse) is raised by his mum after his dad shoots her and deserts them, he grows up to become a cop alongside his best friend Fit (Edison Chen). After a successful mission, Kit finds himself being placed in a team headed by his father, his father that hes grown up hating and has a lot of resentment towards.

While trying to bring down the biggest drug lord in Hong Kong, it appears Fit has been tempted by the dark side, unable to resist the lure of the money he needs to help support his pregnant wife (Gil from Twins).

As I said this movie is watchable, the story wraps up neatly with everyone having redeemed themselves in one way or another.

this movie was cool
2 June 2005
he was cool, another movie from Korea that involves a teenage boy who can fight and a somewhat sassy girl.

however, that being said this was a really funny and cute story, i wasn't expecting much but i found myself throughly enjoying this movie. the storyline isn't anything new, but i really fell in love with the characters.

if you liked my tutor friend you'd probably enjoy this movie too, however i hated my sassy girl (especially CD 1, could that have been a bigger waste of my time?), and i know there is a huge fan base for my sassy girl out there, so watch this movie and judge for yourself.

great anime...too bad about the ending
4 May 2005
His and Her Circumstances was one of the finest pieces of anime I have ever seen, its definitely among my favourites with Fruits Basket and Inital D.

The story centers on over-achiever Yukinon, loved by all for her looks, intelligence and all around niceness...well thats not the Yukinon we the viewers we see, it is all an act to be loved, thats all she cares about is being loved by people (oh and raking in the dough), she doesn't care how hard she has to work to hide her somewhat crazy side haha. That is until she meets Arima...equal to her in looks and intelligence...but something dark lurks within Arima.

The love story is developed beautifully, and the sidekicks are hilarious as well, including Yukinon's family and Arima's best friend (can't remember his name) and Tsubasa is so evil and cute haha.

The only thing that lets this anime down is the ending or lack thereof...it never concludes and all viewers are left hanging for more. Apparently there was an argument between the writers of the anime and the creator of the manga or something.
